Definitions
- the present invention relates to the field of double lever fulcrum lever corks and especially to adaptations to facilitate their manufacture and use.
- the lever-type corkscrew (also called sommelier) with a double point of support, such as that described in document EP0041026, is a corkscrew composed of a handle on which a pigtail and a preformed lever of two notches forming two points of support allowing the effortless extraction of the stoppers in two stages.
- corkscrew offers a single lever with two notches preformed in the latter.
- This embodiment has the disadvantage that the first support or notch is not retractable, the latter used first abuts on the plug when the second support or notch is to be used.
- Another embodiment provides two separate levers hinged in clevis on the same axis integral with the handle, a small lever having the notch corresponding to the support of the first step s' retracting inside a larger lever for the second step. Nevertheless, the stroke of the small lever out of the first is not controlled then requiring some practice so that this embodiment can be used effectively.
- a double lever with first retractable support has been proposed in the document FR 2873108.
- the corkscrew described in this document comprises two separate levers articulated clevis on the same axis integral with the handle, the small lever having the notch corresponding to the support of the first step squeezing inside the big lever for the second stage.
- a spring equips the joint and keeps in retracted position the first lever inside the second, in the absence of pushing the user.
- a tab secured to the small lever cooperates with integral parts of the second lever to limit the rotation of the small lever inside the large lever.
- This lever has the disadvantage of requiring a spring to retract the first lever inside the second which strike the cost of this corkscrew.
- Another disadvantage noted by the applicant relates to the handling of the folding blade conventionally integrated with the handle and articulated along the same axis as the levers.
- This blade is deployed before the use of the pigtail, for cutting the material covering the neck to provide access to the cap. Once the cap is accessible, this blade is folded in the handle, the levers and the pigtail are deployed and the pigtail is screwed into the cap. Because of its small size and constraints on its pivot axis, the deployment and folding of this blade are difficult operations.
- the corkscrew of the invention is of the type comprising a handle on which a pigtail is articulated and two separate levers hinged to a clevis on the same axis integral with the handle and preformed to provide the two notches or two surfaces of support required for the two-stage extraction of a plug engaged in the bottleneck of a bottle.
- the first lever comprises two parts:
- the second lever also comprises two parts: a first part close to the axis of rotation and linked to the latter,
- a second portion connected to the first and having a U-shaped profile whose distal end forms a bearing surface serving as second notch or bearing surface against the neck of the bottle for the second step,
- said second portion of the first lever being preformed so that it fits into said second portion of the second lever and forms a bearing surface against the cylindrical surfaces of the neck of the bottle when the corkscrew moves from the first notch at the second notch so that said first notch is not projecting relative to the second and said first notch does not interfere with said passage.
- This feature is particularly advantageous in that it avoids the presence of a spring for the return of the first notch by exploiting the contact with the bottle to ensure that the first notch will retract inside the second or at least has a smaller projection than the one formed by the second when the corkscrew passes from the first support phase to the second. This lack of spring reduces the cost of such a corkscrew.
- the first part of the second lever is part of the u-shaped profile of the first part of the first lever
- said branches of the U-profile of said first part of the first lever and those of the U-profile of the second part of the second lever are coplanar two by two
- said second part of the first lever consists of a flat profile whose deformation makes it possible to create a projecting projection beyond the plane of the bottom of the U formed by the two levers and inserted between the parts forming this U
- said second portion of the first lever protrudes in length from said second lever
- said U-shaped profile forming the first part of the first lever is preformed with a window having the shape necessary for a bottle opener function.
- the corkscrew of the invention is also remarkable in that it comprises a folding blade articulated on the same axis as the two levers and whose side opposite the cutting edge cooperates with a mechanical stop defined on one of the levers of so that the unfolding of this lever ensures the folding of the blade.
- This feature is particularly advantageous in that it allows the folding of the blade by the deployment of the levers, which corresponds to the following operation in the extraction process.
- the invention also relates to the method of using such a corkscrew which is remarkable in that it consists, during the passage of the first support to the second, to bring into contact by action of the user on the projection c above described, the second part of the first lever against the neck of the bottle to roll back the first part of the first lever relative to the second part of the second lever and ensure that the first notch does not interfere with the use of the second notch.
- Figure 1 is a schematic drawing in side view of an embodiment of a corkscrew according to the invention at the beginning of the first phase of support;
- Figure 2 is a schematic drawing of the end of the second support phase in side view of an embodiment
- Figure 3 is a schematic drawing of the beginning of the second support phase
- Figure 4 is a schematic drawing of a side view of the two levers arranged in the rest position
- Figure 5 is a schematic drawing of a front view of the same position
- Figure 6 is a schematic drawing of a view from above
- Figure 7 is a schematic drawing of a side view of the two levers with the first lever projecting from the second;
- Figure 8 is a schematic drawing of a side view of the two separate levers.
- the corkscrew referenced T as a whole is of the type comprising a handle 100 on which a pigtail 200 is articulated and two separate levers 300 and 400 hinged together. clevis on the same axis integral with the handle 100.
- the pigtail 200 is screwed into the plug B pressed into the neck G of the bottle.
- a first lever 300 is preformed to provide a bearing surface 310 corresponding to a first extraction step illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2.
- the first bearing surface 310 is replaced once the first extraction step is completed, by a second bearing surface 410 preformed in the second lever 400.
- the first lever 300 is divided into two parts 320 and 330:
- a first part 320 close to the axis of rotation A which, having a U-shaped profile, is connected to a first end of said axis A and forms on its second end said bearing surface 310 serving as first notch or first surface; supporting the corkscrew T against the top of the neck G of the bottle, namely against the planar circular ring defined on the top of this neck G,
- the bearing surface 310 defined at the end of the first portion 320 of the first lever 300 is rounded to provide an optimum bearing surface regardless of the angular position of the lever.
- the second lever 400 which is larger than the first, also has two parts:
- a first part 420 close to the axis of rotation A linked to the latter and consisting of two parallel arms which fit into the U formed by the first portion 320 of the first lever 300, are preformed at a first end of an orifice cooperating with the axis of rotation A and at a second end meet on the second part,
- a second portion 430 which is connected to the first, has a U-shaped profile whose distal end forms the bearing surface 410 serving as a second notch or bearing surface against the top of the neck G of the bottle.
- said second portion 330 of the first lever 300 is preformed so that it is housed in said second portion 430 of the second lever 330 and forms a bearing surface 331 against the surfaces cylindrical bottleneck of the bottle when the corkscrew T and said levers pass a first notch to the second notch so that said first notch is not protruding from the second and does not interfere with said passage illustrated by said figures.
- said second portion 330 of the first lever 300 protrudes in length from said second lever 400 ensuring its contact with the neck before that of the second lever 400.
- the lower end of this second portion is equipped with a tongue forming a spatula facilitating the sliding of this portion of the first lever on the cylindrical body of the neck.
- said second portion 330 of the first lever 300 consists of a flat profile, the deformation makes it possible to create a projection 332 projecting beyond the plane of the bottom of the U formed by the two levers 300 and 400 and interposing between the two parts 320 and 420 taking the shape of the U.
- This projection 332 is made by means of a rounded folding of the plane profile forming said second portion 330 of the first lever 300.
- the first portion 420 of the second lever 400 is inscribed in the first portion 320 of the first lever 300 and the second portion 330 of the first lever 300 is disposed in the second portion 430 of the second lever 400.
- the action of the user on the projection 332 makes it possible to project the first bearing surface 310 with respect to the second lever 400.
- the contact between the stop 331 and the cylindrical surface of the neck during the raising of the second bearing surface 410 ensures the retraction of the first bearing surface relative to the second.
- said U-shaped profile forming the first part of the first lever is preformed with a window 340 having the shape necessary for a bottle opener function.
- the corkscrew T further comprises a folding blade 500 articulated on the same axis A as the two levers 300 and 400 and whose side opposite to the cutting edge cooperates with a mechanical stop 350 defined on one of the levers and according to the non-limiting embodiment illustrated on the first part of the first lever so that the unfolding of the lever ensures the folding of the blade.
