Abstract

Verfahren zum Bestimmen des Zeitpunkts des Erlöschens eines Zündfunkens einer Zündeinrichtung (1) für einen Verbrennungsmotor (2), wobei die Zündeinrichtung (1) einen Hochspannungsüberträger (3) mit einer Primärseite (4) und einer Sekundärseite (5) aufweist, von denen die Primärseite (4) mit einer Hochspannungsquelle (6 - 9) und die Sekundärseite (5) mit einer Funkenstrecke (10) zur Ausbildung des Zündfunkens verbunden ist, wobei der zeitliche Verlauf des auf der Primärseite (4) fließenden Primärstromes gemessen und zumindest in eine Funkenbrennphase und eine anschließende Freilaufphase des Hochspannungsüberträgers (3) unterteilt wird und der Übergang von der Funkenbrennphase in die Freilaufphase mit dem Zeitpunkt des Erlöschens des Zündfunkens gleichgesetzt wird, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der zeitliche Verlauf des Primärstromes in der Funkenbrennphase durch eine erste Funktion und in der Freilaufphase durch eine zweite Funktion abgebildet wird und der Schnittpunkt der beiden Funktionen mit dem Zeitpunkt des Erlöschens des Zündfunkens gleichgesetzt wird.
