- each coupling element 22 and 32 is preferably associated with an antiextraction device, to thus prevent the possibility of an accidental lifting of the cabinet that could cause it to become uncoupled and its consequent fall from the wall support plate 26.
- the antiextraction device consists of a simple grub screw 64, or similar element, that screws into the block housing the coupling element and operates in relation to both the horizontal and vertical adjustment of the coupling element. Consequently, the blocks can be fastened in position before the installation of the device and before the cabinet is hung on the wall.
Abstract
Description
- The present invention refers to a device for wall mounting a hanging cabinet, which can be provided with a backside or without one.
- In wall mounting a hanging cabinet, a known method is to use devices of concealed type consisting substantially of a plate and a structural strip fastened on the back of the cabinet and of coupling elements that connect to the plate and to the structural element. The coupling elements can be adjusted both vertically and horizontally with respect to the plate by means of screws that are accessed through suitable openings on the back of the cabinet. The coupling elements are suitable to engage respective support means (hooks or a channel bar) fastened to the wall.
- A solution of this type is described, for example, in Patent
EP 0 636 328 . - A serious drawback with these devices lies in the necessity of supporting heavy loads concentrated on few coupling points, normally two and arranged near the sides of the cabinet.
- A further problem lies in the necessity of preventing possible accidental uncouplings of the cabinet by using relatively simple devices that do not complicate any operations of removing the cabinet.
- Further, it is always necessary to ensure that any required adjustments can be carried out both horizontally and vertically with the cabinet mounted in position.
- A main objective of the invention is therefore to provide a device for wall mounting a hanging cabinet that overcomes the drawbacks of the known devices.
- In particular, the device proposed herein is a device of concealed type, that distributes the weight of the cabinet over a larger surface, be it on the wall or on a support panel, and that uses a larger number of coupling elements on which the load is more uniformly distributed.
- Another objective of the invention is to provide a means of antiextraction of the cabinet that acts on every coupling point to guarantee a better functionality.
- These and other objectives will be achieved with a device for wall mounting a hanging cabinet according to the present invention, as defined by the concluding claims appended to this patent.
- Additional characteristics and the advantages of the present invention will become more evident from the following description of an embodiment provided, by way of non-limiting example, with reference to the attached drawings, wherein:
-
figure 1 illustrates a device according to the invention, in a perspective view taken from the side of the device facing the wall; -
figure 2 illustrates in an enlarged partial perspective view a detail of the device offigure 1 seen from the side facing the back of the cabinet; -
figure 3 illustrates in an enlarged partial perspective view a detail of the device offigure 1 seen from the side facing the wall; -
figure 4 illustrates in a schematic perspective view a device according to the invention applied to a cabinet; -
figure 5 illustrates in an enlarged perspective view the internal part of the detail of the device according to the invention; -
figure 6 illustrates in an enlarged perspective view the internal part of a further detail of the device according to the invention, and -
figure 7 illustrates the details of the device offigure 6 , in an enlarged perspective view taken from outside the same device. - With reference to
figures 1 to 4 , the device for wall mounting a hanging cabinet according to a general characteristic of the invention includes: at least onecabinet attachment plate 20 suitable to be fastened to the internal surface of eachside 21 of the cabinet, for example by means of screws; a coupling element 22 (figure 1 ) associated with eachplate 20 and adjustable in position both horizontally and vertically with respect to the same plate; and astructural strip 24 connecting the entire device to asupport plate 26 that is fastened to the wall, through any known fastening means, and with which it is suitable to engage everycoupling element 22. In particular, thewall support plate 26 is provided with holes for the fastening elements (in general, screws) both above and below the cabinet coupling line (figure 3 ). - The
structural strip 24 can replace the structural element, called "chain", that often connects the hanging cabinet to the base elements, in particular in kitchen environments. - In addition, in the
structural strip 24 it is possible to accommodate one or more longitudinal seats that can guarantee the positioning and the passage of conduits for fluids and electrical cables. - It should be noted that the
structural strip 24 may extend continually from one end to the other of the hanging cabinet (figures 1 and4 ), but it may also be limited to two separate sections adjacent to the respective sides of the cabinet (figures 2 and3 ). - According to a specific characteristic of the invention, the
structural strip 24 has substantially a C-shaped cross section, open toward the rear of the cabinet, and the central recess of the structural strip forms a rectilinear andhorizontal guide 28 wherein at least oneblock 30 is allowed to slide. Eachblock 30 contains anauxiliary coupling element 32, the head of which protrudes from the block. Preferably, eachblock 30 is made up of two suitably shaped half shells coupled by means of corresponding dry joints. One of the half shells is simply a closing element, while the other (figure 5 ) contains theauxiliary coupling element 32. - Each
auxiliary coupling element 32 typically has a circular or mushroom-shaped head, with a threadedstem 40 that engages a corresponding threaded hole on ashaped body 42. The end of thestem 40 opposite the circular head has anaxial seat 44 in which can be inserted a grub screw to rotate thestem 40 and adjust the extent of projection of the coupling head from theblock 30. - The
body 42 also has a furrowedseat 46 that engages anelastic means 48 that is coupled to apin 50 formed from a solid piece with the half shell containing thecoupling element 32. This very simple solution makes it possible for thecoupling element 32 to position itself and adapt automatically according to the weight of the hanging cabinet and to any imperfect alignment of the connectingstructural strip 24 and of thewall support plate 26. Naturally, theelastic element 48 can be any type of spring and may be connected inside theblock 30 to any other equivalent technical means. - The
lateral coupling elements 22, connected to theattachment plates 20 at thecabinet sides 21, and theauxiliary coupling elements 32, inserted in thestructural strip 24, engage the respective circular heads in a rectilinear andhorizontal guide 34 formed on the surface of thewall support plate 26 facing the backside of the cabinet. - With this solution, the main objective of the invention is achieved, as the number of elements coupling the
structural strip 24 is increased, with one or moreintermediate elements 32 being added to thelateral elements 22; in addition, the possibility of sliding the intermediateauxiliary coupling elements 32 makes it possible to evenly distribute the weight of the cabinet. - In particular, the adjustments of the
coupling elements openings plate 20 and in the structural strip 24 (figures 2 and4 ), through which the respective adjusting screws can be accessed. - Preferably, the
lateral coupling elements 22 can be adjusted vertically, as will be described below, while one horizontal adjustment is possible both for the lateral coupling elements and for the auxiliaryintermediate coupling elements 32. In addition, as already said, the latter are made so as to also allow a self adjustment means of elastic type. - According to a further characteristic of the invention, each
lateral coupling element 22 is housed in ablock 51 suitable to slide vertically within a suitably shaped seat 52 (figure 6 ) that is formed integrally with the respectivecabinet attachment plate 20 and that is closed by a shell 54 (figure 7 ) through respective insertion joint means of known type. - The
shell 54 is shaped so as to be inserted into an end of thestructural strip 24 to support the latter.Screws 56 are provided to rigidly fasten theshell 54 and the structural strip together. - The circular head of each
lateral coupling element 22 is supported on a threadedstem 58 that passes through theblock 51 and theshell 54, so as to be threaded by means of a grub screw that can be inserted into the opening 36 (figure 2 ). In this manner, an adjustment of thecoupling element 22 can be carried out in a horizontal direction. The threadedstem 58 also screws into anut 59 that is contained with a certain play in a recess formed in theseat 52. This solution contributes to aligning the coupling elements with thestructural strip 24 and makes it easier to adjust the coupling in a horizontal direction. - The vertical adjustment of each
lateral coupling element 22 is on the other hand achieved by means of a pair ofbevel gears bevel gears figure 6 ) and can be operated by means of a grub screw that can be inserted, through theopening 36, into the hollow body of thegear 60, the axis of which is horizontal and parallel to the axis of thestem 56 of thelateral coupling element 22. - Lastly, it should be noted that each
coupling element wall support plate 26. The antiextraction device consists of asimple grub screw 64, or similar element, that screws into the block housing the coupling element and operates in relation to both the horizontal and vertical adjustment of the coupling element. Consequently, the blocks can be fastened in position before the installation of the device and before the cabinet is hung on the wall.
