Definitions
- the present invention belongs to the field of machinery, namely to internal combustion engines, in particular to construction details, parts and accessories thereof.
- the purpose of the invention is to create a high-pressure pump bearing member of an internal combustion engine, which should be, when compared with known bearing members of such kind, essentially improved in the technical sense, and could moreover be economically manufactured by die-casting of aluminium or appropriate alloys on the basis of aluminium and by means of relatively simple die- casting equipment i.e. molds, by which the static strength of such product should could essentially correspond to the static strength of the known product, while the dynamic strength of the improved product would have to be essentially improved.
- a filter bearing member of an internal combustion engine is used in recently manufactured engines of the French manufacturer PSA (Peugeot Citroen Automobiles SA), and is therefore known to the public due to commercial use, although the part as such seems not be mentioned in patent documents. Of that reason and also for better understanding of the proposed invention, such bearing member is separately shown in the attached drawing (Figs. 1).
- the known bearing member 1 comprises a flange area 2', which is formed by a wall 20' furnished with a central bore 200' adapted to receive a not-shown pump shaft, wherein said wall 20' is furnished with appropriate seats 21', 22', 23', 24', which are appropriately machined and arranged around said bore 200' and adapted for resting a not-shown pump housing on said bearing member V, and wherein each of them is equipped with at least one throughout opening 210', 220', 230', 240'.
- said wall 20' of the flange area 2' is reinforced by a circumferential rib 25' and moreover also with a pair of transversal ribs 26', 27', which extend tangentially with respect to the central bore 200'.
- the purpose of said ribs 25', 26', 27' is to establish a required rigidity of the bearing member 1' despite to a relatively thin wall 20', and moreover also capability of withstanding permanently repeating dynamic stresses, to which the bearing member is exposed during the use thereof.
- the known bearing member 1 ' is furnished with two attaching eyes 3', 4', which are arranged in the bottom area thereof and extend along the plane, which is perpendicular with respect to the plane of the wall 20'. Said eyes 3, 4 are located on different sides of the wall 20' and protrude apart from each other and are intended for attaching the bearing member 1 ' as such onto each available support, namely either to appropriate seat on the engine bearing support or in any other location within a motor vehicle.
- each eye 3', 4' comprises at least one opening 30, 40' as well as two machined resting surfaces 31 ', 32'; 41', 42.
- the bottom surfaces 32', 42' serve for the purposes of reliable and uniform resting of the bearing member 1 ' as such onto each available support, while the opposite top surfaces 31', 41 ' serve for resting of not-shown elements of a screw assembly, by means of which the bearing member 1' is attached to said support.
- machining of said surfaces 31', 41 '; 32', 42', in particular of the top surfaces 32', 41 ' leads to discontinuity of the surface layer of the casting of the bearing member 1 ', which normally leads to increasing of the risk of cracking, so that by permanently repeating dynamic stresses initial cracks are then followed by a break.
- the bearing member 1 ' is furnished with a seat 5', which is adapted to receive a not-shown bolt of a positioning bush.
- Said seat 5' is conceived in the form of a cavity 50', which extends - when observed in the direction downwardly — parallel to the plane of the wall 20' and comprises a top wall 51 ' and a bottom wall 52', which are located apart to each other and between which a throughout opening 53' is extending. Mounting of said bolt together with corresponding bush into said opening 53' is extremely complicated, since in the absence of any rest the bush is often shifted outwards from the cavity 50'.
- the present invention refers to a high-pressure pump bearing member of an internal combustion engine, which is preferably manufactured by means of die- casting of aluminium or any other alloy on the basis of aluminium into at least two- part mold, said member comprising
- a flange area formed by a wall furnished with a central bore as well as with preferably subsequently machined seats, which are appropriately arranged around said bore and each of them comprising at least one throughout bore, by which also reinforcing ribs are foreseen on said wall, and by which one of said ribs extends approximately along the circumference of said wall, and moreover
- each eye comprises at least one opening, further a bottom resting surface adapted for precisely resting of the bearing member itself on each particular support, and still further a top resting surface adapted for resting of elements of appropriate screw assembly as required for the purposes of attaching the bearing member onto each disposable support, and moreover also
- At least one seat which is adapted to receive corresponding complementary parts, in particular a bolt of a positioning bush and which is available in the form of a cavity, which extends - when observed in a direction downwards — perpendicularly with respect to the plane of the wall of the bearing member and comprises a top wall and a bottom wall, which are arranged apart from each other and extend parallel to each other and between which said throughout bore is located.
- said seat is conceived in such a manner that within the cavity, which extends - when observed in a direction downwardly - perpendicularly with respect to the plane of the wall of the bearing member, namely adjacent to an opening in the area of said cavity, a reinforcing rib is foreseen, which is located between the walls and is adapted to form a rest of a positioning bush during assembling.
- two additional reinforcing ribs are foreseen, which extend approximately perpendicularly with respect to each other, wherein the first rib extends tangentially with respect to said central bore in the wall and approximately in a vertical direction, while the second rib extends at least approximately in the horizontal direction and is located below said bore and apart of it, preferably within the same plane as the attaching eyes, which are furnished with mechanically unprocessed top surfaces.
- FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a known pressure-pump bearing member according to prior art
- Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a pressure-pump bearing member according to the present invention
- Fig. 3 is also a perspective view, however from the opposite side, of a bearing member according to Fig.2;
- Fig. 4 is a front view of a baring member according to Fig. 3;
- Fig. 5 is a cross-section along the plane V - V according to Fig. 4.
- a bearing member 1 according to the invention is conceived in such that it can be manufactured by means of die-casting of aluminium or also of any other alloy on the basis of aluminium into a simple two-part mold without lateral cores or other additional parts.
- the bearing member 1 according to the invention which is shown in Figs. 2 - 5, comprises a flange area 2, which is formed by a wall 2 furnished with a central bore 200 adapted for inserting a not-shown pump shaft there-trough.
- the wall 20 is furnished with appropriate seats 21, 22, 23, 24, which are appropriately arranged around said bore 200 and each of them comprising at least one throughout opening 210, 220, 230, 240. Said seats are correspondingly machined and adapted for resting a not-shown pump casing onto said bearing member 1.
- said wall 20 of the flange area 2 is reinforced by a circumferential rib 25, and moreover also with two auxiliary ribs 26, 26 extending approximately perpendicular with respect to each other, wherein the rib 26 extends approximately in a vertical direction and tangentially with respect to said central bore 200, while the rib 27 is located below the bore 200 and extends essentially in a horizontal direction apart from it.
- the purpose of said ribs 25, 26, 27 is to establish, despite to its relatively thin wall 20, appropriately rigid and strong bearing member 1, which should be able to withstand permanently repeating dynamic stresses, to which it is exposed during the use.
- said bearing member 1 is furnished with two attaching eyes 3, 4, which are located in the bottom area within a plane extending perpendicularly with respect to the plane of the wall 20, namely on different sides of said wall 20 and protruding apart from each other, by which said eyes 3, 4 are intended for attaching the bearing member as such onto each support, namely to appropriate surface either on the engine housing or on any other area within the motor vehicle.
- each eye 3, 4 is furnished with at least one opening 30, 40 as well as with resting surfaces 31m 32; 41, 42, namely a bottom surface 32, 42 adapted to rest the bearing member 1 as such to each disposable support, and a top surface 31, 41 adapted for placing appropriate elements of each screw assembly serving to attach the bearing member 1 to said support.
- said bottom surfaces 32, 42 are machined, while the top surfaces 31, 41 remain unprocessed, by which the risk of cracking is essentially reduced, and the resistance of the bearing member 1 against periodical dynamic stresses is essentially increased.
- the bearing member 1 is furnished with a seat 5, which is foreseen to receive a not-shown bolt of a positioning bush.
- Said seat 5 is conceived like a cavity 50, which however in this particular case - when observed downwardly - extends in a direction perpendicularly with respect to the wall 20 of the bearing member 1 and comprises a top wall 51 and a bottom wall 52, which are located apart from each other and a bore 53 is extending throughout both of them.
- a positioning rib 54 (Fig. 5) is foreseen between said walls 51, 52, which is located adjacent to said bore 53 and serves exclusively for the purposes of forming a rest for said positioning bush during the assembling.
- the bearing member 1 can be manufactured by means of a simple mold, wherein several castings can be processed simultaneously, which essentially improves economic efficiency of such manufacturing.
- the rigidity is regularly higher than the rigidity of known bearing members, and at the same time also the rib 54 may be easily realized, by which all problems related to mounting of complementary parts are eliminated, and by which thanks to rationally conceived surfaces 31, 41 on both attaching eyes 3, 4 also the resistance of such bearing member 1 against permanently repeating dynamic stresses is essentially improved.
