Abstract

The present invention refers to a protection and startup integrated combo for airtight refrigeration compressor, which may accommodate in a sole product, different functions such as: cable press, fastening base (fence), fence cover, among others. This combo (1 ) comprises at least one motor startup device (2) and at least one motor overload protection device (3), the motor startup device (2) being associated with the overload protection device (3), characterized in that it comprises at least one cable press element (15), or at least one fastening base (25), or at least a cover (35), or further the combination thereof, so as to form an integrated part associated, in the manner of fitting, with at least one airtight compressor feed terminal.

Description

Title: "PROTECTION AND STARTUP INTEGRATED COMBO FOR AIRTIGHT REFRIGERATION COMPRESSOR".
The present invention refers to a protection and startup integrated combo for airtight refrigeration compressor which may accommodate in a sole product, different functions such as: cable press, fastening base (fence), fence cover, among others.
Additionally, the present solution provides a system for fitting the combo to the airtight compressor housing, which is simple and effective compared with the previous techniques. Background of the invention
Protection and startup combo is a product performing functions of startup relay and overload protection in sole assembly.
Usually, combos commercialized at present add the following functions:
• overload protector;
• startup relay;
• electrical connection terminal assembly for connection to the network, grounding, startup capacitor, speed capacitor and other ones intended to connect refrigerator devices;
• 3 terminals for connection with the airtight terminals (fusite);
• strap for fastening to the fence; and
• capacitor support.
Current combos do not add cable press functions. Additionally, the current combos adopt different types of connection blocks, as listed below:
• frontal access (terminals at 90° regarding fusite pine);
• side access (terminals in the same direction as fusite pins);
• frontal access with RAST-5 standard; • side access with RAST-5 standard. In the current combos, the platforms where connector blocks are mounted, regardless of the type, are extensions of the own combo body, that is, they are molded in plastic in the same combo body.
Combos of the prior art techniques present the following disadvantages: a) extended time of installation for the cover with terminals, as it requires that the protection and startup components are connected via cable; b) they do not allow to fasten connection cables directly to the combo through cable press, as it is not firmly anchored to the compressor and would not be approved in a 100N cable traction test (the product would be drawn out from the airtight terminal, as required by IEC standard); c) they require a protection cover throughout the assembly (fence, airtight terminal and electrical components) to prevent electric component and connections thereof from wetting, thereby avoiding short circuit or electrical shock; d) extended number of discrete components; cover (with or without terminal blocks), overload protector, startup relay, cable press (1 or 2), cable press screws (1 or 2); making the mounting and component logistics more complicated and costly; e) require fastening plate (fence) welded to the compressor holding in order to allow anchorage of cable press and cover.
In order to overcome above-mentioned problems, the present solution provides a complete and integral combo, unlike solutions typically provided separately, usually by the compressor's manufacturer. The use of such solutions may be either partial or total.
Thus, the present invention offers a groundbreaking solution for protection and startup combo for airtight compressor, compared with the previous techniques, providing a complete and integral product, unlike previous solutions which typically are provided separately, in general by the compressor's manufacturer. Object of the Invention
This invention has for object to propose a protection and startup integrated combo for airtight refrigeration compressor, which may accommodate in a sole product, different functions such as: cable press, fastening base (fence), fence cover, among others. Brief Description of the Invention
The objective of the present invention is reached through the provision of a protection and startup combo for airtight refrigeration compressor, comprising at least one motor startup device and at least one motor overload protection device, the motor startup device being associated with the overload protection device, the combo comprising at least one cable press element or at least one fastening base, or at least a cover, or further the combination thereof, so as to form an integrated part associated, in the manner of fitting, with at least one airtight compressor feed terminal. Brief Description of the Drawings
The present invention will be described in more details in respect of the attached drawings, in which:
Figure 1 - represents a perspective view of the integral combo under the present invention, in a first embodiment; Figure 2 - represents a perspective view of the integral combo, under the present invention, in a second embodiment;
Figure 3 - represents a perspective view of the integral combo under the present invention, in a third embodiment;
Figure 4 - represents a second perspective view of the integral combo under the present invention, in a fourth embodiment;
Figure 5 - represents a perspective view of the combo now proposed, highlighting the fit thereof into the compressor housing; and
Figure 6 - represents a perspective view of the combo, highlighting the fit terminals of the combo herein proposed. Detailed Description of the Drawings
As previously mentioned, solutions of the previous technique for airtight compressor protection and startup combos present varied problems for production thereof.
Figures from 1 to 6 show possible embodiments for the modular combo now proposed.
The protection and startup combo for airtight refrigeration compressor 1 , according to teachings of the present invention, comprises at least one motor startup device 2 and at least one motor overload protection device 3, the motor startup device 2 being associated with the overload protection device 3.
The present protection and startup combo comprises at least one cable press element 15, or at least one fastening base 25 or at least one cover 35, or further the combination thereof, as illustrated in figuresi to 3, so as to form an integrated part associated, in a fitting manner, with at least one feed terminal of the airtight compressor.
For an optional embodiment, figures 4 and 5 show that the fastening base 25 is provided with a lock ring 40 which may provide mechanical coupling with a fastening flange 50 of the compressor.
Figure 4 shows that the lock ring 40 is provided with a sealing ring 8.
Said fastening base 25 provides mechanical coupling to the fastening flange 50 of the compressor through rotation connection terminals 9 arranged in the fastening base 25. Figure 6 shows details of the rotation terminals herein proposed.
Rotation connection terminals 9 are associated with at least one feed terminal of the airtight compressor through a first fitting movement and a second fitting movement in a direction substantially angular regarding the first movement.
Those rotation terminals 9 have been created specifically to make feasible the connection of combo with the compressor through the compressor fastening flange 50. This type of terminal allows to fit into the pins of the rotation airtight terminal, while the conventional connectors (pin- connectors) serve only for connection in axial direction regarding fusite pins. Rotation connection terminals 9 may be provided with rotation terminal extensions, in an optional embodiment. Said terminal extension serves to allow a direct connection of protectors and relays in their original configurations to the rotation connection terminals.
The present combo comprises at least one electrical connector platform, either lateral or frontal.
Based on the foregoing, the present solution adds to the protection and startup combo the following functions:
1. integrated cable presses: usually they are integrated in the connection box, fence cover or even as an independent part specifically intended for that purpose, which are fastened to the fence. The proposal is to cause the cable press function to be an integral part of the combo;
2. integrated fence or fastening base: it is always an integral part of the compressor and serves as a fastening base for combos, covers, cable press or startup and speed capacitors. The proposal is to integrate it to the combo; and
3. integrated fence cover: usually it is manufactured in plastic and overlapped to the fence to protect the protector and startup relay, as well as connections thereof. The proposal is to integrate it to combo, overlapped to the integrated fence. Moreover, the present invention offers as advantages, compared with previous techniques, the following characteristics: a) simplification and cost reduction for mounting of electrical components and connections to the compressor; b) cost reduction through reduction in the number of items, inventory and logistics simplification by manufacturers of compressors and refrigerators; c) possibility of fastening cables directly to combo, as the same, with the integrated fence, begins to be firmly anchored to the compressor; d) no additional cover, as the new assembly begins to provide all mechanical, electrical and sealing protections required; and e) cost reduction by elimination of the traditional steel fence welded to compressor housing. Finally, aiming to meet requirements of the object now claimed, the following devices have been added, as previously mentioned:
1. a system to fasten combo to the compressor: as the proposed system aims at elimination of the welded steel fence or fastening base to the compressor, alternatives for fastening between the new integrated plastic fence combo and the compressor have been created.
2. fastening flange: this alternative consists in fastening a welded steel flange to the compressor, around airtight compressors (fusite), acting as a socket for combo fastening. The combo, in turn, is provided with a structure which fits into the fastening flange;
3. lock ring: this alternative for fastening consists in a steel ring fastened to the combo fence, around connection terminals. This ring is fitted under pressure to the metallic structure of the compressor airtight terminals (fusite), thus preventing the combo to be removed from the compressor; 4. sealing ring (o-ring) in "fusite": the use of a sealing ring between the airtight terminal structure (fusite) and the combo assures the sealing of the system, thus preventing humidity to enter the region of fusite. In the conventional systems, this protection is provided by the fence;
5. cable press: there are several alternatives for anchorage of cable press to combo: a. integrated to the cover: the cable press can be an integral part of the combo cover. b. integrated to combo base: in this case, cable press would be an integral part of the combo. c. integrated to the combo base and anchored to the conventional fence: this cable press alternative is used in combo versions which do not use integrated fence and therefore the conventional fence is present.
Some preferred embodiments having been described, it should be understood that the scope of the present invention embraces other possible variations, being limited only by the contents of the accompanying claims, which include the possible equivalents.

Claims

1. Protection and startup integrated combo for airtight refrigeration compressor (1 ), comprising at least one motor startup device (2) and at least one motor overload protection device (3), the motor startup device (2) being associated with the overload protection device (3), characterized in that it comprises at least one cable press element (15) or at least one fastening base (25), or at least a cover (35), or further the combination thereof, so as to form an integrated part associated, in the manner of fitting, with at least one airtight compressor feed terminal.
2. Combo (1 ) according to claim 1 , characterized in that the fastening base (25) is provided with a lock ring (40) which can provide mechanical coupling with a fastening flange (50) of the compressor.
3. Combo (1) according to claim 2, characterized in that the lock ring (40) is provided with a sealing ring (8).
4. Combo (1) according to claim 2, characterized in that the fastening base (25) provides mechanical coupling with a fastening flange (50) of the compressor, through rotation connection terminals (9) arranged at the fastening base (25).
5. Combo (1 ) according to claim 4, characterized in that the rotation connection terminals (9) are associated with at least one feed terminal of the airtight compressor through a first fitting movement and a second fitting movement in a direction substantially angular regarding the first movement.
6. Combo (1) according to claim 4, characterized in that the rotation connection terminals (9) are provided with rotation extension terminals.
7. Combo (1 ) according to claim 4, characterized in that it comprises at least one electrical connector platform.
