Definitions

  • Another object of the invention is that of achieving a door lock of the above-described type that is extremely simple, safe, reliable, durable and low cost.
  • the lock in accordance with the invention is advantageous since it is capable of combining therein both the characteristics of a panic door and those of a fire door.
  • the second rod 6 is supported by the second plate 19 moveably respect to the second plate 19 in the translation direction of the second plate 19.
  • the pin 48 is threaded, as are the holes 49 and 50 in a manner such that the mutual engagement occurs by means of screwing.

Description

  • The present invention refers to a door lock of the type comprising a kinematic mechanism for actuating a first vertical rod with upper push rod and a second vertical rod with lower push rod reversibly vertically moveable for the releasable door block.
  • DE 34 17 054 A1 and EP 1 681 413 A2 describe a door lock of the type comprising, inside a box of the lock, a kinematic mechanism for actuating a first vertical rod provided with an upper push rod and a second vertical rod provided with a lower push rod reversibly vertically moveable for the releasable door block.
  • Such locks mainly find application in the field of panic doors and fire doors.
  • Generally, such locks suffer from a poor flexibility of use, due to their limited field of use. Futhermore, they are not reversible. In other words, they are not suitable for hand changing, if not by means of a complicated and burdensome multiplication of the elements constituting the kinematic mechanism for actuating the rods.
  • The technical task proposed by the present invention is therefore that of achieving a door lock of the above-described type that allows eliminating the lamented technical drawbacks of the prior art.
  • In the scope of this technical task, the object of the invention is that of achieving a door lock of the above-described type which offers an improved flexibility of use in different fields of application with an extremely simplified transportation, storage and assembly logistics. Furthermore, a additional object of the invention is that of achieving a door lock of the above-described type which allows the hand changing with a reduced number of constituent elements of the kinematic mechanism for actuating the rods which have the push rods for blocking the door.
  • Another object of the invention is that of achieving a door lock of the above-described type that is extremely simple, safe, reliable, durable and low cost.
  • The technical task, as well as these and other objects according to the present invention are attained by achieving a door lock according to claim 1.
  • Preferred embodiments of the present invention are also defined in the subsequent claims.
  • The lock in accordance with the invention is advantageous since it is capable of combining therein both the characteristics of a panic door and those of a fire door.
  • Furthermore, by providing a degree of translational freedom for each rod with respect to the relative plate, with the possibility of eliminating such degree of freedom for one of the rods in an extremely quick and easy manner in accordance with the hand selected, one can have a reversible lock with an extremely reduced number of elements constituting the kinematic mechanism for actuating the rods.
  • The warehouse stock and the logistics from the standpoint of the lock producer can be appreciably reduced, due to the fact that the lock has a small number of elements constituting the kinematic mechanism for actuating the rods.
  • Also the warehouse stock and the logistics from the standpoint of the lock distributor can be appreciably reduced due to the fact that the lock is reversible, i.e. adaptable to functioning with the right or left hand.
  • Even from the standpoint of the window/door fitter, there is the undoubted advantage of being able to decide directly in the building yard if the door is to be installed on a panic door or fire door in accordance with the specified need.
  • Further characteristics and advantages of the invention will be clearer from the description of a preferred but not exclusive embodiment of the door lock according to the finding, illustrated as indicative and non-limiting in the enclosed drawings, wherein:
    • Figure 1 shows a side elevation view of the lock in accordance with a first preferred embodiment of the invention, with the kinematic mechanism in the rod extraction position for the door block and with a side demarcation wall of the box removed for the sake of clarity;
    • Figure 2 shows a side elevation view of the lock of figure 1 in which the kinematic mechanism is actuated by the handle board;
    • Figure 3 shows a side elevation view of the lock of figure 1 with the manual control lever partially extracted from the front side of the box of the lock, into position in which it has not yet begun to move the rocker arm; and
    • Figure 4 shows a side elevation view of the lock of figure 1 in which the kinematic mechanism is actuated by the manual control lever.
  • With reference to the cited figures, a door lock is shown, indicated overall with the reference number 1.
  • The lock 1 is of the type comprising, inside a box 2 of the lock 1, a kinematic mechanism 3 for actuating a first vertical rod 4 equipped with upper push rod 5 and a second vertical rod 6 equipped with lower push rod 7.
  • The first rod 4 and the second rod 6 are reversibly vertically moveable for the releasable door block.
  • The kinematic mechanism 3 can be independently actuated both by a handle board 8 and by a manual control lever 9 accessible through the front demarcation wall 10 of the box 2.
  • The box 2 has an essentially parallelepiped shape and comprises, in addition to the front demarcation wall 10 (from one window 11 thereof, the manual control lever 9 is extractible), also an upper demarcation wall 13 (from one opening 12 thereof, the first rod 4 passes), a lower demarcation wall 14 (from one opening 15 thereof, the second rod 6 passes), a rear demarcation wall16, and two side demarcation walls 17, 17.
  • The kinematic mechanism 3 comprises a first plate 18 vertically moveable for the actuation of the first rod 4 associated therewith, a second plate 19 vertically moveable for the actuation of the second rod 6 associated therewith, and a rocker arm 20 to which the first plate 18 and the second plate 19 are operatively connected.
  • The rocker arm 20 is set to vertically actuate the first plate 18 in the opposite direction with respect to the second plate 19.
  • The rocker arm 20 is hinged to the box 2 with a pivot axis 21 orthogonal to the side demarcation walls 17.
  • In particular, for the transmission of the motion between the rocker arm 20 and the plates 18 and 19, a pin 22 present on a first arm of the rocker arm 20 is engaged in a slot 23 provided on the first plate 18, while a second pin 24 present on the second arm of the rocker arm 20 is engaged in a slot 25 made on the second plate 19.
  • The rocker arm 20 advantageously also has a cam 39 for ejecting a spring latch (not shown) from a seat provided for the latter in the box 2 behind the window 11.
  • The first plate 18 and the second plate 19, respectively, have a first vertical slot 26 and 27, respectively, partially superimposed and slidable along a first guide pin 28 fixed to the case 2, orthogonally to the side demarcation walls 17. The first plate 18 also has a second vertical slot 29 and 30, respectively, partially superimposed and vertically aligned with the vertical slots 26 and 27 and slidable along a second guide pin 31 vertically aligned with the first guide pin 28, it too fixed to the case 2, orthogonally to the side demarcation walls 17.
  • The guide pins 28 and 31 present in the box 2 ensure the vertical movement guiding of the first plate 18 and of the second plate 19. Also the manual control lever 9 is hinged to the box 2 with a pivot axis orthogonal to the side demarcation walls 17 and preferably coinciding with the pivot axis 21.
  • Since pivot axis 21 is superimposed on the plates 18 and 19, in order to be able to vertically move such plates have a further slot 40, 41 that is vertically slidable along the pivotaxis 21.
  • In the figures, two handle boards 8 are illustrated since the lock is prearranged for a reversible use, but of the two only the upper one is actually associated with an actuation handle or bar handle.
  • Each handle board 8 has a direct actuation cam 32 of the plate 18 or 19 to which it is associated.
  • In particular, each plate 18, 19 has a respective flange 33, 34 engageable by the cam 32.
  • The flange 33, 34 is bent orthogonally to the main surface plane of each plate 18 and 19, which is parallel to the side demarcation walls 17.
  • The control lever 9 has a direct actuation cam 35 of the rocker arm 20.
  • The control lever 9 can be actuated in contrast with a return spring 36 coupled in 37 to the control lever 9 and in 38 to the box 2 and has an initial idle stroke in which it extracts from the front demarcation wall 10 of the box 2 without actuating the rocker arm 20.
  • Advantageously, the first rod 4 is supported by the first plate 18 moveably with respect to the first plate 18 in the translation direction of the first plate 18.
  • Analogously, the second rod 6 is supported by the second plate 19 moveably respect to the second plate 19 in the translation direction of the second plate 19.
  • The first rod 4 and the second rod 6, respectively, have respective bases 42, 43 elastically supported in a retractable way, e.g. by means of helical springs 46, 47, in respective sliding guides 44, 45 provided in the first plate 18 and respectively in the second plate 19.
  • The lock 1 comprises a device for the hand changing necessary for actuating the lock 1 itself.
  • The device for hand changing the lock comprises a pin 48 to be selectively inserted into a diametric through hole 49 of the base 42 of the first rod 4 or into a diametric through hole 50 of base 43 of the second rod 6, respectively, to make jointly translatable the first rod 4 with the first plate 18 or the second rod 6 with second plate 19, respectively.
  • In the figures, the first rod 4 is made integral in translation with the first plate 18.
  • The front demarcation wall 10 of the box 2 has an access opening 51 to the hole 49 and an access opening 52 to the hole 50.
  • The pin 48 operates by means of its protruding part from the hole 49 or from the hole 50, respectively, which is engaged with a flange 53 of the first plate 18 or respectively with a flange 54 of the second plate 19 for blocking the retraction of the first rod 4 with respect to the first plate 18 or of the second rod 6 with respect to the second plate 19, respectively.
  • The flange 53 and the flange 54, respectively, are orthogonally bent with respect to the main surface plane of the first plate 18 and second plate 19 from which they are extended.
  • Preferably, the pin 48 is threaded, as are the holes 49 and 50 in a manner such that the mutual engagement occurs by means of screwing.
  • The adaptation of the lock to the hand changing occurs by simply unscrewing the pin 48 from one of the holes 49 and 50 in order to screw it back into the other.
  • Such operation can be carried out directly in the building yards and is simple and immediate, since it only requires a screwdriver to be inserted through the openings 51 and 52 for screwing or unscrewing the pin 48.
  • The hand changing device is intended to prevent that a retraction of one of the push rods, induced in a fraudulent manner when the door is locked, could automatically lead to the retraction of the other push rod and consequently the unlocking of the door. One of the most important aspects of the invention is that the lock is perfectly suitable both for a panic door and for a fire door.
  • The functioning of the lock according to the invention appears evident from that described and illustrated, and in particular is substantially the following.
  • In the case of installation in a panic door, the rotation of the board 8 for the opening of the door causes the thrust of the cam 32 on the flange 34 of the second plate 19; by vertically translating upward, such plate actuates the rocker arm 20 in anticlockwise rotation due to the engagement between the pin 24 and the slot 25. The rotation of the rocker arm 20 in turn induces the downward translation of the first plate 18 due the engagement between the pin 22 and the slot 23. The vertical translation in the opposite direction of the plates 18 and 19 causes the retraction of the push rods 5 and 7 from the seats (not shown) on the ceiling and floor, where they are inserted. The door can thus be opened.
  • In the case of installation in a fire door, the anticlockwise rotation of the manual control lever 9 is initially idle in order to facilitate its extraction from the case 2, and subsequently cause the thrust of the cam 35 on the rocker arm 20. The latter is also rotated in the anticlockwise direction, causing the upward vertical translation of the second plate 19 due to the engagement between the pin 24 and the slot 25, and the downward vertical translation of the first plate 18 due to the engagement between the pin 22 and the slot 23. Also in this case, the vertical translation in the opposite direction of the plates 18 and 19 causes the retraction of the push rods 5 and 7 from the seats (not shown) on the ceiling or floor, where they are inserted. The door can thus be opened.
  • The door lock thus conceived is susceptible to numerous modifications and variants, all falling within the scope of the invention, as defined by the appended claims; in addition, all the details can be substituted by technically equivalent elements.
  • In practice, the materials used, as well as the size, can be of any type in accordance with the requirements and the state of the art.
