Definitions
- the invention relates to an electrician face shield for protection against arc fault with a lens for working on or near electrical equipment and resources.
- the electrician's face shield is a personal protective equipment that is worn in front of the face, usually in combination with a headgear. It consists of a transparent protective screen which is either connected to a support body or edged in textile materials.
- the electrician's face shield serves to protect against injuries to the face and neck of the wearer when an arc occurs, which can be triggered, for example, by damage to the equipment or incorrect operation of electrical systems. He should protect against glowing metal splashes, the hot plasma cloud and the radiant heat.
- visors which cover by an elongated disc or a flame-retardant bib the neck of the wearer with and thus in front of the metal splashes and the hot plasma cloud that can strike under the visor and thus injured neck and chin protect.
- the latter is for example in DE 20 2005 009 226 U1 described.
- UV ultraviolet
- IR infrared
- a major influence on the degree of injury of the electrician has the UV and IR radiation, which can transmit almost unimpeded in transparent discs with a transmittance near 100%.
- goggles and protective shields made of transparent, flame-retardant and electrically insulating thermoplastic film and plate materials are known, on whose front sides a thin gold layer is deposited, which serves as a filter, for example in DE 1862 554 U ,
- this metal layer is electrically conductive.
- a heat-reflecting face shield described with a vapor-deposited on a mirror mirror layer.
- Such metal layers are not suitable for electric sirens, as metal layers are conductive.
- the visors are checked with electrical voltages and must not be conductive.
- an applied metal layer due to the thickness in the micro range, very vulnerable.
- the light transmission and the color rendering index are significantly reduced by the metal layers.
- EP 0698 225 B1 describes a protective device whose viewing window can be put into at least two light transmission states by electrically exciting liquid crystal cells. This solution requires a lot of effort during production and maintenance.
- ski or sunglasses whose glasses are coated with special protective layers are also provided with a UV protection provided ski or sunglasses whose glasses are coated with special protective layers. Most of these are very strong colored and unsuitable as a face mask.
- a sunscreen for transparent or translucent glazings with at least one metallized and / or unmetallized carrier film is EP 1 666 927 A1 described.

- the face shield should be simple and inexpensive to produce.
- the basic idea of the invention is that by coating a transparent pane with a special foil which does not distort the normal, visible light spectrum, the UV and IR radiation of the arc is reflected and absorbed, thereby avoiding injuries to the wearer of the faceguard.
- the face mask according to the invention for electricians consists of a shield attached to a supporting body or in textile materials.
- the protective shield consists of a transparent plastic plate of a thickness between 1 and 10 mm, whose color rendering index according to EN 410 should be greater than 90, preferably close to 100. Thickness and nature of the plastic plate are chosen so that in a fault arc no breakdown can occur.
- the plastics are flame retardant and have an electrically insulating effect.
- plastics of polycarbonate and / or acetate are used.
- a thin, flexible plastic film is applied, whose thickness is selected between 0.01 mm and 0.5 mm.
- This plastic film has a visual transmission according to EN 410 of at least 40%, better still more than 65%, in order to ensure a good view through the visor. Furthermore, it has a color rendering index according to EN 410 of greater than 90. This ensures that no color distortions can occur, which could lead to serious confusion, especially with electricians.
- the solar reflectance of the film according to ISO 13837 is greater than 23% and the solar transmission according to ISO 13837 is less than 55%. This special selection of a minimum solar reflection and a maximum solar transmission ensures that in the event of a fault arc, not so much heat gets through the visor to the face.
- the plastic film is a self-adhesive film, which is selected from commercially available window film films and on the outside of the plastic plate, so the arc-facing side, is applied.
- the plastic film can also be laminated on the plastic plate or it is inserted between two partial plastic plates, either self-adhesive or laminated.

Description
The invention relates to an electrician face shield for protection against arc fault with a lens for working on or near electrical equipment and resources. The electrician's face shield is a personal protective equipment that is worn in front of the face, usually in combination with a headgear. It consists of a transparent protective screen which is either connected to a support body or edged in textile materials.
The electrician's face shield serves to protect against injuries to the face and neck of the wearer when an arc occurs, which can be triggered, for example, by damage to the equipment or incorrect operation of electrical systems. He should protect against glowing metal splashes, the hot plasma cloud and the radiant heat.
Commercially available transparent visors made of a transparent plastic usually meet the protection against glowing metal splashes and the hot plasma cloud.
In the case of the occurrence of an arc fault in electrical installations also produces radiant heat similar to the solar spectrum in the visible and non-visible area. The electrician is thus exposed to high ultraviolet (UV) and infrared (IR) radiation, which can lead to injury or burns of the skin.
In tests of the visors, which are carried out in Germany by the professional association of energy textile electrical according to the test principle GS-ET-29 "electrician's face protection", a calorimetric heat measurement is carried out on a probe during the action of an arc fault. The additional requirements described therein apply to an electrician's face shield worn during work involving the risk of an arc fault.
A major influence on the degree of injury of the electrician has the UV and IR radiation, which can transmit almost unimpeded in transparent discs with a transmittance near 100%.
Currently discs for electrician protection visors are known in which the plastic discs are dyed through, for example, green, red or yellow. These discs have a reduced light transmission of about 50 to 75% and also meet the protection against UV or IR radiation. But they only pass through the part of the light spectrum in which they are colored. This has the consequence for the wearer that he no longer perceives other colors correctly or falsified. This impairs working ergonomics and can even lead to confusion in the electrical engineering of the colors of wires, wires, cables or lines and thus to a higher accident risk.

Furthermore, there are in the welding glass panes that are specially coated and relatively colorfast. Visors with these discs are very heavy and reduce the field of vision. In addition, these visors contain conductive parts which are not approved for activities in the field of electrical engineering. They are therefore not usable. The same applies to the glass sighting points, which darken in the event of an arc occurring.
Are also provided with a UV protection provided ski or sunglasses whose glasses are coated with special protective layers. Most of these are very strong colored and unsuitable as a face mask.

The object of the invention is the development of an effective face protection for electricians, in which the view through the face shield is little affected or falsified. The temperature increase behind the protective screen in the event of an arc fault should be kept low. The face shield should be simple and inexpensive to produce.
According to the invention the object is achieved by the features of claim 1. Ausgestaltende features are described in the
The basic idea of the invention is that by coating a transparent pane with a special foil which does not distort the normal, visible light spectrum, the UV and IR radiation of the arc is reflected and absorbed, thereby avoiding injuries to the wearer of the faceguard.
The face mask according to the invention for electricians consists of a shield attached to a supporting body or in textile materials.
The protective shield consists of a transparent plastic plate of a thickness between 1 and 10 mm, whose color rendering index according to EN 410 should be greater than 90, preferably close to 100. Thickness and nature of the plastic plate are chosen so that in a fault arc no breakdown can occur. The plastics are flame retardant and have an electrically insulating effect. Preferably, plastics of polycarbonate and / or acetate are used.
On the plastic plate, a thin, flexible plastic film is applied, whose thickness is selected between 0.01 mm and 0.5 mm. This plastic film has a visual transmission according to EN 410 of at least 40%, better still more than 65%, in order to ensure a good view through the visor. Furthermore, it has a color rendering index according to EN 410 of greater than 90. This ensures that no color distortions can occur, which could lead to serious confusion, especially with electricians. The solar reflectance of the film according to ISO 13837 is greater than 23% and the solar transmission according to ISO 13837 is less than 55%. This special selection of a minimum solar reflection and a maximum solar transmission ensures that in the event of a fault arc, not so much heat gets through the visor to the face.
Preferably, the plastic film is a self-adhesive film, which is selected from commercially available window film films and on the outside of the plastic plate, so the arc-facing side, is applied.
The plastic film can also be laminated on the plastic plate or it is inserted between two partial plastic plates, either self-adhesive or laminated.
In one embodiment, the shield is pivotally attached to the shield bracket so that the electrician can flip the shield upward when not in use.
The shield should completely cover the face and neck area.
The invention has the advantage that light plastics, as can be used with already used visors and the field of view of the wearer is little affected or distorted. The temperature and radiation exposure behind the protective screen in the event of an arc fault is greatly reduced by the high reflection and absorption of UV and IR radiation.
The face shield is simple and inexpensive to produce.
