Abstract

A support for plastic bottles containing tempera paints, finger paints, acrylic paints or other semi-paste paints, characterised by consisting of a hollow body (2) provided upperly with a substantially semicircular band (6) for engaging the bottle neck, and lowerly with a resting band (8) with its perimeter greater than the perimeter of the bottle neck.

Description

  • The present invention relates to a support for plastic bottles containing tempera paints, finger paints, acrylic paints or other semi-paste paints.
  • Plastic bottles are known containing semi-paste paints. These bottles are generally made of PET and present an externally threaded neck for engagement by a cap provided with an openable (flip-top) portion exposing a passage hole for the liquid.
  • Below the collar an annular portion is provided, known as the underneck, the function of which is to stiffen the structure of the bottle neck.
  • As the liquid is consumed, the part remaining in the bottle generally tends to sediment, so that to expel the remaining liquid the bottle has to be inverted and compressed, to deform it.
  • Because of the small bottle thickness, this method of expelling the liquid has the drawback of possibly tearing the bottle, with consequent liquid leakage.
  • The object of the invention is to eliminate this drawback by providing a bottle support which enables the bottle to be maintained in an inverted position in a simple and comfortable manner.
  • This object is attained according to the invention by a support for plastic bottles containing tempera paints, finger paints, acrylic paints or other paints as described in claim 1.
  • The present invention is further described hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
    • Figure 1 is a perspective view of a support of the invention,
    • Figure 2 is a perspective view of the bottle engaged by the support of the invention, and
    • Figure 3 is a side view thereof.
  • As can be seen from the figures, the support 2 of the invention is made of rigid thermoplastic material and is in the form of an interrupted hollow frusto-conical portion 4 retained by an upper band 6 and a lower band 8.
  • The support has a height greater than the height of a cap 10 of a traditional bottle 12 for semi-paste paints, and has stiffening ribs 14 provided on its lateral surface.
  • The upper band 6 has a radius of curvature slightly greater than the radius of curvature of the threaded neck of the bottle 12 and a length slightly greater than half the perimeter of the neck.
  • The support of the invention is used by snap-fitting the upper band 6 about the bottle neck between the neck ribs 16 and the bottle shoulders 18, utilizing the yeldability of the material.
  • The bottle is then rested inverted on a surface via the lower band 8, which forms a rigid support for the bottle.
  • In this manner the liquid descends by gravity and is ready to be poured into other containers at the time of need.

Claims (6)

  2. A support as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that the hollow body (2) is of frusto-conical configuration.
  3. A support as claimed in claim 2, characterised in that the lateral surface of the body presents an opening which also involves the lower band (8).
  4. A support as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that the upper semicircular band (6) is in contact with the hollow body.
  5. A support as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that the lateral surface is provided with a plurality of ribs (14).
  6. A support as claimed in claim 1, characterised by being made of rigid thermoplastic material.
