Abstract

Crossed bottom bag comprising a paper outer bag and a synthetic inner bag. (3) The outer bag has a closable opening and situated opposite therefrom a bottom having four folded corners (6, 7, 8, 9). The outer bag has a first side (10) and a second side (11), each having an opening side and a bottom side (14, 15). The first side at the location of its bottom side is folded down and forms two of the four folded corners (8, 9). The bottom sides are attached to each other and form the bottom of the outer bag. The first and the second side near their opening side form the closable opening of the outer bag. The inner bag is provided with a closable opening and with a closed bottom side (17) situated opposite the opening. This bottom side is attached to the bottom side (14) of the first side (10) of the paper outer bag. The synthetic inner bag is spaced apart (D' ) from at least one of the two folded corners of the first side.

Description

Crossed bottom bag
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The invention relates to a crossed or hexagonal bottom bag comprising a paper outer bag and a synthetic inner bag, wherein the paper outer bag has a closable opening and situated opposite therefrom a closed folded bottom, which bottom has four folded corners, wherein the paper outer bag has a first side and a second side, wherein the first and the second side each have an opening side and a bottom side, wherein the first side at the location of its bottom side is folded down for forming two of the four folded corners and the second side at the location of its bottom side is folded down for forming the other two of the four folded corners, and the bottom sides are attached to each other for forming the closed folded bottom of the paper outer bag, and the first and the second side near their opening side form the closable opening of the paper outer bag, wherein the synthetic inner bag is provided with a closable opening and with a closed bottom side situated opposite the opening, wherein the bottom side of the synthetic inner bag is attached to the bottom side of the first side of the paper outer bag.
Such a crossed bottom bag (also called open mouth bag) is generally known and is among others used for packaging foodstuffs and other (powdered) products. In such cases one- or multiple-layer paper is used for the outer bag. Particularly for foodstuffs and other bulk goods that need to be protected well against moisture, oxygen, odour, etc. the use of the synthetic inner bag is particularly advantageous.
It is among other things an object of the present invention to provide an alternative, improved crossed bottom bag.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION For that purpose a crossed bottom bag of the type mentioned in the preamble is according to the invention characterised in that the synthetic inner bag is spaced apart from at least one of the two folded corners of the first side.
The present invention is among others based on the recognition of the problem that when manufacturing the known crossed bottom bags the synthetic inner bag is enclosed in the bottom fold at the location of the corners formed by the first side. This results in the synthetic inner bag not being able to move freely in the paper outer bag when the bags are being filled. As a result the bottom does not unfold sufficiently resulting in the filled bag not being able to stand stably. This also forms an increased risk when closing the filled bag, as in the generally automated packaging lines, the position of the opening side of the bag is not sufficiently constant, because of which the upper side of the bag may tend inwards instead of standing upright. As a result disruptions may occur in further processing the filled bag. As according to the invention the synthetic inner bag is spaced apart from at least one of the two folded corners of the first side, the synthetic inner bag at said side is not fully enclosed by the folded corner, because of which the bottom is able to unfold sufficiently, which at least diminishes the above- mentioned problems.
In one embodiment of a crossed bottom bag according to the invention this is easily realised because a corner (which as regards this application also includes the corner or a point close to the corner) of the bottom side of the inner bag is attached to a corner (which as regards this application also includes the corner or a point close to the corner) in question of the bottom side of the second side of the paper outer bag. It is noted here that in the known crossed bottom bag the synthetic inner bag, at the location of the bottom, is not attached to the second side. Attachment can advantageously be realised by means of glue.
It is particularly advantageous when the synthetic inner bag is spaced apart from both folded corners of the first side. This is easily realised because each of both corners of the bottom side of the inner bag is attached to a corner in question of the bottom side of the second side of the paper outer bag.
SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The invention will be elucidated on the basis of a number of exemplary embodiments shown in the attached drawings, in which:
Figure 1 shows a schematic top view of a crossed bottom bag;
Figure 2 shows a schematic exploded view of a part of a crossed bottom bag according to the state of the art; and
Figure 3 shows a schematic exploded view (analogous to figure 2) of a part of a crossed bottom bag according to the invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Figure 1 shows a schematic top view of a crossed bottom bag 1 . The crossed bottom bag 1 comprises a paper outer bag 2 and a synthetic inner bag 3. The paper outer bag 2 has a closable opening 4 and situated opposite therefrom a closed folded bottom 5. The bottom 5 has four folded corners 6, 7, 8, 9.
The paper outer bag 2 has a first side 10 and a second side 1 1 . The first side 10 and the second side 12 each have an opening side 12, and
13, respectively, and a bottom side 14 and 1 5, respectively, wherein the first side 10 at the location of its bottom side 14 is folded down from forming two corners 8, 9 of the four folded corners. The second side 1 1 at the location of its bottom side 1 5 is folded down for forming the other two corners 6, 7 of the four folded corners. The bottom sides
14, 15 are attached to each other for forming the closed folded bottom 5 of the paper outer bag 2. The first side 10 and the second side 1 1 at their opening side 12, 13 form the closable opening 4 of the paper outer bag 2.
The synthetic inner bag 3 is provided with a closable opening 16 and a closed bottom side 17 situated opposite the opening 16 (Figures 2 and 3). The bottom side 17 of the synthetic inner bag 3 is attached to the bottom side 14 of the fist side 10 of the paper outer bag 3, for instance by means of a glue strip 18 or alternatively a number of glue points.
In figure 2 an exploded part of the known crossed bottom bag is depicted, which clearly shows that when folding the first side around folding line 8, 9 the. enclosure of the synthetic inner bag 3 arises at the corners 8 and 9. As the synthetic inner bag is not attached to the second side 1 1 , folding down about the folding line 6, 7 will not give rise to problems in that respect. The far end of the synthetic inner bag 3 then at least comes to lie almost parallel to the line B-C, and a fold in the inner bag 3 comes to lie on the line A, B.
In figure 3 an exploded view comparable to figure 2 is shown of a crossed bottom bag according to the invention. The synthetic inner bag 3 in this case is spaced apart (see point D') from the corner of the first side 10. In the exemplary embodiment shown this is realised because a corner C of the bottom side 17 of the inner bag 3 is attached to a corner in question of the bottom side of the second side 1 1 of the paper outer bag. Said attachment can be formed by a glue point. In that way the far end of the inner bag 3 comes to lie along the line B'-Cr and the fold in the inner bag along the line A-B'. At the location of the corner 8 the inner bag (D') therefore is spaced apart from the corner 8, so that when folding about folding line 8, 9 the inner bag is not enclosed.
Although figure 3 shows the situation for only one corner 8, it will be clear that in a further embodiment the synthetic inner bag is spaced apart from both folded corners of the first side. In that case each of both corners of the bottom side of the inner bag is attached to a corner in question of the bottom side of the second side of the paper outer bag.
