impeller 17 is disposed inside thecavity 14a and thesuction pipe 11 so as to be supported rotatably (seeFigs. 2 and3 ). As shown inFigs, 2 to 4 , theimpeller 17 is formed in such a manner that a bearingportion 18 is integrated withblade portions portion 18. - A fixing
hole 18a opened upward is formed in the bearingportion 18. - The
blade portions portion 18. Each of theblade portions suction blade 20 protruding downward from the bearingportion 18 and afeed blade 21 protruding laterally from the bearingportion 18. - Each
feed blade 21 is configured by abase portion 21a continued to the bearingportion 18 and atip portion 21b continued to thebase portion 21a. The length of eachbase portion 21a in a laterally extending direction is set to be larger than that of acorresponding tip portion 21b. - As shown in
Figs. 3 and5 , eachbase portion 21a is shaped to have a gentle curve such as a substantially circular arc which is convexly curved toward a direction of rotation of the impeller 17 (a direction P1 shown inFigs. 3 to 5 ). As shown inFigs. 3 and5 , eachtip portion 21b is shaped to have a gentle curve such as a substantially circular arc which is convexly curved toward a direction opposite to the direction P1 of rotation of theimpeller 17. - In the
impeller 17, thebase portions portion 18 are tangential to extensions Q, Q and Q of thebase portions base portions - The
impeller 17 is fixed in such a manner that a lower end portion of thedrive shaft 15a of thedrive motor 15 is inserted into the fixinghole 18a of the bearingportion 18. The bearingportion 18 and thefeed blades cavity 14a while thesuction blades suction pipe 11. Accordingly, theimpeller 17 is rotated inside thecavity 14a and thesuction pipe 11 by driving force of thedrive motor 15. - In a state that the
impeller 17 is disposed inside thecavity 14a and thesuction pipe 11, respective tips (outer ends) of thefeed blades circumferential surface 8c of the lower-half case 4 forming thecavity 14a (seeFig. 3 ) while respective tips (outer ends) of thesuction blades suction blade 20 and the inner surface of thesuction pipe 11. - As shown in

motor pump 1 configured as described above, when thedrive motor 15 is rotated, theimpeller 17 is rotated by driving force of thedrive motor 15. When theimpeller 17 is rotated, cleaning liquid is suctioned from a not-shown tank into thecavity 14a through thesuction pipe 11 by thesuction blades ejection pipe 10 by thefeed blades - When cleaning liquid is fed from the
cavity 14a toward theejection pipe 10 in accordance with rotation of theimpeller 17, cleaning liquid temporarily stored in thecavity 14a is forced out into the inside of theejection pipe 10 by thefeed blades cavity 14a. - On this occasion, because the
base portion 21a of eachfeed blade 21 is shaped to have a gentle curve which is convexly curved toward the direction of rotation of theimpeller 17 as described above, flow resistance is so low that cleaning liquid can flow easily from the bearingportion 18 side to thetip portion 21b side, and that the flow rate of cleaning liquid increases as the cleaning liquid moves from thebase portion 21a side to thetip portion 21b side. - Moreover, because the
tip portion 21b of eachfeed blade 21 is shaped to have a gentle curve which is convexly curved toward a direction opposite to the direction of rotation of theimpeller 17, the direction of a rotation-direction side surface 21c (seeFig. 3 ) of eachtip portion 21b approaches a tangential line in the direction of rotation compared with the direction of a rotation-direction side surface of acorresponding base portion 21a. Accordingly, increase in flow rate of cleaning liquid and improvement in liquid pressure for feeding the cleaning liquid can be attained. - Moreover, because the
tip portion 21b of eachfeed blade 21 is shaped to have a gentle curve which is convexly curved toward a direction opposite to the direction of rotation of theimpeller 17, eddy currents of cleaning liquid which has flown from thebase portion 21a side to thetip portion 21b side are adjusted so that velocity energy is efficiently converted into pressure energy in the vicinity of thetip portions - Moreover, since the
motor pump 1 is formed so that the respective tips of thefeed blades impeller 17 are located near the innercircumferential surface 8c of the lower-half case 4 forming thecavity 14a, greater increase in flow rate of cleaning liquid in accordance with improvement in liquid pressure for feeding the cleaning liquid can be attained. - In addition, the
motor pump 1 is formed so that the axial direction of theejection pipe 10 coincides with a direction tangential to the innercircumferential surface 8c and that theportion 10b of theejection pipe 10 coincides with a line tangential to the innercircumferential surface 8c. Accordingly, increase in flow rate of cleaning liquid and improvement in efficiency of liquid feeding operation can be attained. - The
motor pump 1 is formed so that theimpeller 17 is configured by threeblade portions blade portions 19 is reduced to three as described above, resistance of cleaning liquid to the rotatingimpeller 17 can be reduced so that the load imposed on thedrive motor 15 can be reduced. - Since the number of the
blade portions 19 is reduced to three, the volume of cleaning liquid in thecavity 14a can be increased. - However, the number of the
blade portions 19 used in theimpeller 17 of themotor pump 1 may not be limited to three. The number of theblade portions 19 may be chosen in accordance with a desired pump design. - In the above description, it is assumed that the
motor pump 1 is used for a headlamp cleaner for ejecting the cleaning liquid to the headlamp of a vehicle.
