Abstract

The invention relates to a blister dispenser for products like medicaments or food supplements. The blister dispenser comprises a housing with four sidewalls, a bottom, a lid with cavities for the reception of single portions of a product, whereas the openings of the cavities are oriented towards the inside of the housing when said lid is closed; and an opening in the sidewalls or the bottom of the housing for dispensing of a single portion of the product.

Description

Blister Dispenser
The invention relates to a blister dispenser for products like medicaments or food supplements.
EP 0 759 403 A2 discloses a device into which a blister pack for products like medicaments can be fed. The device has a keyboard. Upon pressing a key the product from the respective blister of the blister pack is removed from the blister pack and can be gathered at an opening in the side wall of the device.
DE 199 38 298 Al discloses a blister dispenser and an accordingly modified blister pack for medicaments. The blister dispenser contains a sensing mechanism, a controller and a communication unit such that a signal is generated if a medicament is not removed from the blister pack within a predetermined time interval.
The problem to be solved is that the state of the art blister dispensers require blister packs which are adapted for the specific dispenser and the blister packs have to be fed into the dispensers in a certain direction.
The solution of this problem is to provide a blister dispenser with integrated blister pack, comprising a housing with four sidewalls, a bottom and a lid. The lid comprises cavities for the reception of single portions of a product. The cavities have openings on one side, which are oriented towards the inside of the housing when said lid is closed. One of the sidewalls or the bottom of the housing comprises an opening for dispensing of a single portion of the product.
In one embodiment of the invention each of the cavities is closed by a sealing foil.
The product can be a medicament or food supplement. A single portion of the product can be in the form of powder, granules, chewable tablets, swallowable tablets, soft gel capsules or pills.
The cavities in the lid can be incised from the outside of the housing to break the sealing foil and push the product contained in said cavity into the inside of the housing.
Preferably the lid is connected to one of the sidewalls by a hinge. The lid and the other parts of the housing can be connectable via crimping dots or similar means.
In a preferred embodiment the housing of the dispenser has been manufactured as one single piece.
The cavities in the lid are made of blister material such as PP, COC, PVC, PE, PVDC, ACLAR™. They are manufactured by thermoforming, cold forming or plastic-injection technology. In a preferred embodiment the side walls and/or the bottom of the housing form a gutter towards the opening in said side walls or bottom. The gutter can be designed such that a specific move is required to guide a single portion of the product from the inside of the housing to the opening in said side walls or bottom. The single movement has a certain degree of difficulty such that the blister pack with integrated dispenser is child resistant.
Figures and Examples
Fig. 1 Blister dispenser open
Fig. 2 Blister dispenser closed
Fig. 3 Blister dispenser with child-resistant gutter open
Fig. 4 Blister dispenser with child-resistant gutter closed
Fig.l shows the blister dispenser 10 with its lid 2 open. The blister dispenser 10 comprises a container with a lid 2, a bottom wall 3 and sidewalls 4a, 4b, 4c, 4d. Lid 2 is connected to sidewall 4a by hinge 7. Lid 2 has cavities 1 for the reception of single portions of a product. Cavities 1 can be closed by a sealing foil (as an aluminum foil with a heat seal lacquer). Sidewall 4d comprises an opening 6 for dispensing a single portion of the product and forms a gutter 5 towards opening 6. When being closed the lid 2 can be fixed to the other parts of the housing with the crimping dots 8 and their counterparts 9 at the lid 2. The blister 10 can be thermoformed or cold formed or injected all at once. Once the cavities 1 have been filled they can be sealed with a lid foil in a second step.
Fig. 2 shows the blister dispenser 10 with its lid 2 closed.
Fig. 3 shows the blister dispenser 20 with child-resistant gutter 25 with its lid 2 open. The blister dispenser 20 comprises a container with a lid 22 and a bottom wall 23 and sidewalls 24a, 24b, 24c, 24d. The lid 22 is connected to sidewall 24b with hinge 27. Lid 22 has cavities 21 for the reception of single portions of a product. Cavities 21 can be closed by a sealing foil (as an aluminum foil with a heat seal lacquer). Sidewall 24d comprises an opening 26 for dispensing a single portion of the product. Sidewalls 24a, 24c and 24d form a gutter 25 towards opening 26. The Hd 22 can be fixed to the other parts of the housing with the crimping dots 28 and their counterparts at the lid 29. The blister 20 can be thermoformed or cold formed or injected all at once. Once the cavities 1 have been filled they can be sealed with a lid foil in a second step.
Fig. 2 shows the blister dispenser 20 with its lid 2 closed.
