Abstract
Description
- This invention refers to a cleaner designed for use on pieces of jewellery, to the cleaning procedure and to the cleaning kit.
- The object of the invention is both its composition and a method and a kit which cleans effectively to be used with jewellery, while at the same time ensuring that the pieces are not damaged by the cleaning product itself, and ensuring that the cleaning procedure may be easily carried out by the user.
- For this purpose the present invention essentially includes a formulation based on non-ionic, anionic, alcanolamine, glycol ether and polyacrylate surfactants in concentrations which permit the previously enumerated objectives to be attained. Another object of this invention is the method for cleaning the jewellery parts using the previous formulation which permits optimum results.
- Products are known which are adequate for use in cleaning pieces of jewellery, however, their composition and handling does not permit a non specialised user to carry out in his own home the type of cleaning which is similar to that which would be obtained by a professional achieving a satisfactory result.
- Cleaning products are also known which could be used for cleaning jewellery parts, but the components of which are not formulated for home use with this type of element, thus they do not achieve either effective cleaning or a satisfactory result.
- The jewellery cleaner which is the object of this invention and the procedure for applying the product are particularly indicated for immersion cleaning of jewellery. It permits cleaning of precious metals, such as gold, gold plate, platinum or silver.
- The objective of this invention is to achieve a jewellery cleaner which cleans, cares for and conserves the pieces in a simple procedure.
- The formula which is the object of the invention is characterised in that it comprises:
- ● non-ionic surfactants, from the family of ethoxylated fatty alcohols with a concentration from 1% to 25%, with a chain of between 8 to 20 ethoxylated carbon atoms and with between 6 and 10 ethylene oxide moles.
- ● anionic surfactants, with a concentration between 0.1% and 5% comprising from among the following: sodium lauryl sulphate, sodium lauryl ether sulphate, magnesium lauryl sulphate, calcium lauryl sulphate, ammonium lauryl sulphate, lauryl ether sulphate of ammonium or a mixture of the foregoing.
- ● Alcanolamines, between 0.1% and 5% from among the following: monoethanolamine, diethanolamine, triethanolamine or a mixture of the foregoing.
- ● Glycol ethers, with a concentration between 1% and 10%.
- ● Polyacrylates and polyacrylate derived polymers with a concentration between 0.1% and 5%.
- The jewellery cleaning procedure is also the object of this invention using the previous formulation, which permits a satisfactory finish in the cleaning process. The aforementioned procedure is characterised by the fact that it consists of the following steps:
- ● Dissolution of the jewellery cleaning formula in water with concentration of 1% -50%.
- ● Temperature elevation between a range of 40°C and 70°C.
- ● Immersion of the piece for some minutes.
- ● Removal of the piece.
- ● Rinsing of the piece.
- A jewellery cleaning kit is also the object of this invention containing all the elements required for correctly carrying out the aforementioned procedure, as well as the composition which is the object of the invention.
- For this purpose the kit includes a recipient for preparing the dissolution, an element for carrying out mechanical cleaning, an element for polishing and shining the pieces, an element for handling the pieces and a container for the cleaning product.
- The present descriptive report is complemented by a set of plans illustrating a preferred embodiment of the invention, but which is in no way restrictive.
-
Figure 1 is an example of an embodiment of the cleaning kit. - In an example of an embodiment, and in order to obtain a formulation which will permit an effective finish, the ethoxylated fatty alcohol could possess a concentration of between 5% and 15% of a chain of between 12 and 18 ethoxylated carbon atoms with between 6 and 9 ethylene oxide moles.
- In addition, it may also contain non-ionic surfactants, from the family of ethoxylated fatty alcohols with a concentration from 1% to 10% , with a chain of between 8 to 20 ethoxylated carbon atoms and with between 2 and 6 ethylene oxide moles. Or more specifically, it may possess a concentration of between 1% and 5% of a chain of between 12 and 18 atoms of ethoxilated carbon with between 2 and 6 ethylene oxide moles.
- In addition to the previous compounds, the formulation may also contain in an example of an embodiment a hydrotope of the family of aryl sulphates or alkyl sulphonates , with concentrations between 0.1% and 5%. This hydrotope, for greater effectiveness could be selected from among the following: sodium cumene sulfonate, sodium xylene sulphonate, sodium toluene sulphonate, C4-C10 sodium sulphonate or a mixture of the foregoing.
- Additionally, and in order to improve both the aroma of the cleaning product and also its appearance it may also include perfume and/or a colouring agent.
-
Figure 1 shows an example of an embodiment which includes all the elements required to carry out the cleaning of the jewellery as described above. - For this purpose it comprises a box (6) or similar which consists of a recipient (1) for dissolving the cleaning product in water, a brush (2) which permits mechanical cleaning of the jewellery, a cloth (3) for polishing and shining, tweezers (4) for handling the jewellery pieces and ampoules (5) containing the formula which is the object of the invention.
