Description

    Technical field
  • The invention pertains to medical equipment, namely, to means of self-massage of back or training of back muscles.
  • Prior art
  • Massage is widely used in medicine means of treatment and prevention of diseases, which is used, in particular, for prevention and treatment of diseases of spinal column as well.
  • The spinal column serves as support for the whole housing. It protects the spinal cord, which sends messages from brain to other parts of the housing. If the muscles and ligaments of spinal cord grow weaker, the prolapse of intervertebral discs takes place, blood flow is disturbed in perivertebral area, innervation of the organs and physiological systems is affected. The diseases of internals, signs of lumbago, palsies and reduction of functions of various parts of housing appear.
  • The spinal column forms curvatures, two of which are faced with their convexities forward, and two - backwards. But majority of people as they become older have their normal position of vertebral column impaired. Additional anteroposterior and lateral curvatures are formed - kyphoses and lordoses (backward curvatures). As a result the intervertebral muscles are in static stress and pinch blood vessels and lymphatic vessels passing through them. Therefore many functions of vertebral column of majority of people are affected, especially the function of nervous trophism of visceral organs. In case of strong degree of manifestation of disorder of these functions there is development of premature aging, weakening of vision, hearing, headaches, stomach and duodenal ulcer, hepatitis, diabetes, prostatitis, prostate adenoma, gynecological diseases of women, impotence of men, effects of osteochondrosis and radiculitis.
  • In spite of general acknowledgement of leading role of classical (manual) method of massage and its wide practical use in medical, cosmetic and sport practice, the last years device-based method of massage begins to be introduced in everyday life of human being.
  • Device-based massage is used not only with the purpose of treatment of people after traumas or in case of diseases, but also as efficient hygienic and preventive means.
  • The mechanism of action of device-based massage is very simple. Local pressure of contact elements, among which the rollers are most widespread, creates the effect of point massage, which relaxes long muscles of back and makes healthier the organs of cardiovascular system digestive apparatus and endocrine glands. When moving along human housing the rollers, like hands of massager, create in muscles internal pressure, which pushes blood through vessels, cleansing and toning up vessels, efficiently removing waste products and salts from tissues of organism. Such method of massage was known as far back as in antiquity - thus, for example, in ancient China for achievement of therapeutic effect of massage wooden or bone spheres were used.
  • The massager ( SU 1404077 , MITK A61H 15/00, published on 23.06.1998) is known, which contains housing, rollers, axles, on which the rollers are placed, bracket and handles for fixation of the massager on common wall or on sport apparatus «wall bars», clamps. The housing, bracket and handles are made with grooves. The axles are placed in such a manner that they form conventional arch. The rollers are made in such a manner that they have concave surface in central part, working lateral part of the rollers is made in form of two cylinders and with different surface - a part of the rollers working lateral part has smooth surface and the other part of the rollers working lateral part has the surface with protrusions.
  • The imperfections of this massager are as follows: complicacy of execution of the device; inconvenience of use; low efficiency of the device due to the fact that when making self-massage not all rollers but only part of them exert influence upon the muscles of the back.
  • The roller massager ( RU 2040924 C1 , MΠK A61H15/00, published on 09.08.1995) is known, containing the rod with attachment fitting, which is placed in the middle part of the rod, the rollers, which are placed on the rod symmetrically regarding longitudinal axis of the massager and are made with possibility of swinging, weight installation unit, designed for dosing of load, handle for displacement, where the weight installation unit and handle for displacement are attached to the attachment fitting under right angle, both with respect to each other and to the rod. The claim of invention indicates that the rollers placed on the rod may be made of various thicknesses. The massager is destined for fulfillment of segmental massage with dosed load for influence upon deeply located paravertebral muscles of back. Different thickness of the rollers is necessary only for simultaneous fulfillment of massage of both superficial and deep layers of back muscles.
  • The imperfection of this massager is as follows: impossibility of independent fulfillment of the massage of back, there is need of another person who would perform massage using the given massager; small surface of the area of influence of massager on the back muscles leads to reduction of prophylactic and medical effect of back muscles massage, increases the time of fulfillment of the massage procedure in case of need of massage of significant surface or the whole surface of the back; relatively big weight of the massager (in the description is indicated possible weight of the massager with the load of up to 5 kg) for fulfillment of deep massage of back muscles requires from a person who makes massage certain physical efforts for lifting and displacement of the massager.
  • The closest to the invention is the prophylactic massager (UA 6265 U, MΠK A61H7/00, published on 15.04.2005), which has supporting board, massage rollers, which are fixed to supporting board, rests for hands or feet. The supporting board has several slits, where massage rollers are placed, and the slits are located along conventional longitudinal axis of supporting board. The utility model is designed for self-massage of the back.
  • The claim of utility model indicates that massage rollers may be of both equal and unequal dimensions, forms and surface configuration, but the description of the document does not give examples of concrete fulfillment of indicated features.
  • The imperfection of this prophylactic massager is as follows: complicacy of execution; low efficiency of the device; there are no examples of concrete realization of such features as inequality of massage rollers by dimensions and forms, it is not revealed how exactly these features exert influence on technical result and what in general medical and prophylactic effect has self-massage of back using the device with such features.

The housing is made in form of Π-shaped frame, the elements of which are two lateral elements 3 and 4, placed in parallel to each other, and crosspiece 5, placed transversely to lateral elements. Lateral elements are made equal in form of boards, which are placed in such a manner that one of two longitudinal edges of each of the boards is lower supporting side of lateral element, and two wide longitudinal edges of lateral elements are oriented vertically. On one end lateral elements are connected with the crosspiece, on the other end lateral elements are connected with the rest for hands, owing to which closed bearing structure of the device appears. Thanks to such technical decision bearing structure of the device is enough tough and strong towards loads, prevalent part of which exert influence on lateral elements of the housing, and, at the same time, consists of minimum quantity of elements.
  • On upper narrow longitudinal edge of each lateral element the grooves 6 are made (Fig. 2), in which the axles are inserted. The grooves and axles by their dimensions are made in such a manner that the axles can be freely extracted from grooves and inserted in grooves. In case of necessity of fixing the axles to the housing the devices may contain additional elements of any known structure, by means of which the axles are fixed to the housing.
  • In the grooves in lateral elements the axles 7 are inserted (Fig. 1, 3), on which massage rollers 8, 9, 10 are placed - on each axle are placed the rollers, which are equal by diameter and thickness. Massage rollers 8, 9, 10 are made with different diameters - the massage rollers 8 have the smallest diameter, the massage rollers 9 have medium diameter, the massage rollers 10 have the biggest diameter. With such variant of the device's housing implementation massage rollers spatially are placed between lateral elements 3 and 4.
  • The invention's peculiarity is simultaneous use in the device of massage rollers with different diameters. It is possible to use massage rollers with two different diameters, three or more diameters. But the most optimal is the use in the device of massage rollers of three different dimensions, such a variant of device implementation is shown on the Fig. 1 - the device has two pairs of massage rollers of the smallest diameter 8, two pairs of massage rollers of medium diameter 9 and one pair of massage rollers of the biggest diameter 10.
  • As the experience of use of the prophylactic massagers for self-massage of the back has shown, the devices that create superficial massage of the back on substantial area of the back, but at the same time create deep massage of the back muscles on certain problematic area of the back, are most efficient. Such effect of combination of superficial massage of substantial area of the back and deep massage of certain small zone is provided by the device with massage rollers having different diameters. The use in prophylactic massagers of massage rollers with two different diameters - bigger diameter for deep massage of small area of the back muscles and small diameter for superficial massage of substantial area of the back muscles may create abrupt drop of loads on the back muscles between two areas of massage, which diminishes therapeutic effect of the prophylactic massager. The use of massage rollers with three or more different diameters allows smoothing the drop of loads on the back muscles between the zones of deep massage and zones of superficial massage. But the use of massage rollers of four different diameters makes the device more complicated and makes its production more expensive. Therefore, the use in the device of massage rollers having three different diameters is the most optimal one.
  • The massage rollers are made with central axial bores. In order the massage rollers could rotate around the axles and there would be possibility to move the massage rollers at will from one axle to another, the axles for massage rollers may, for example, be implemented with external diameter, which is a little bit lesser than the diameter of central axial bores of massage rollers, or to implement simultaneously the axles and central axial bores in massage rollers with small conicity - in both variants of implementation of axles the availability of permanent small gap between the axle and walls of central axial bores in massage rollers is secured.
  • On each axle a pair of massage rollers is put, between which detachable disk 11 (Fig. 3, 4, 5) is placed. Detachable disks are made in such a manner that they are freely put on and removed from the axles, and allow adjusting the distance between massage rollers - for the cases of use on one axle of massage rollers with equal thicknesses (Fig. 4) and for the cases of use on one axle of massage rollers with different thicknesses (Fig. 5) the detachable disks of different thickness are used.
  • The Fig. 4 shows the most widespread variant of massage rollers arrangement, when on one axle equal massage rollers are placed. Such a variant of arrangement of massage rollers fits the majority of cases of massage - for example, if loin is problematic area of the back. In this case the axle with massage rollers of the biggest diameter is placed in the area of the loin muscles, owing to which during self-massage deep massage of the loin muscles and respective therapeutic effect are achieved.
  • The Fig. 5 shows the variant of arrangement of massage rollers, when on one axle are placed massage rollers having different diameter and thickness - the massage roller 12 has bigger diameter and lesser thickness, the massage roller 13 has lesser diameter and bigger thickness. Such a variant of arrangement of massage rollers may be used in case of necessity of treatment of spinal curvature, for example, kyphoses and lordoses. In case of treatment of spinal curvature there is need of creation of uneven (unequal) load on the back muscles, which are placed symmetrically with respect to vertebral column. Such inequality of load is created by means of massage using massage rollers with different diameters and thickness, placed on one axle. The possibility to change the position of massage rollers, availability of massage rollers with three different diameters and different thickness allows choosing for every person necessary individual spatial combination of massage rollers and gives a lot more therapeutic effect during the treatment of spinal curvature as compared with usual massage of the back.
  • Besides, the use of the prophylactic massager with massage rollers with different diameters gives sport effect too - during massage substantial static load on separate muscles of the back occurs, which during regular use of this device results in increase of the weight of these muscles. Therefore this device may be used also for purposeful training of certain back muscles of sportsmen, for whom it is very important to have correctly developed certain back muscles.
  • Depending on the needs and age of a person the device may have three to ten axles. The diameter of massage rollers may vary within the limits of 80 to 200 mm, the thickness - 20 to 100 mm. The distance between massage rollers may be 10 to 60 mm.
  • For production of the device the following materials may be used: wood, metal, polymeric materials - for the housing, rest for hands and axles, as well as wood and polymeric materials - for massage rollers. The most optimal variant of the material for production of the devices, which contact with human skin, is natural material - wood, which combines at the same time the best hygienic properties among the mentioned materials and esthetical appeal.
  • Depending on the purposes, for which the device is used, the rollers may be made both with smooth working surface, which contacts with the skin of the back, and with rough working surface. In case of training of the back muscles, as well as in prevailing majority of cases of self-massage of the back the influence on the back muscles only is necessary, and therefore it is expedient to use the rollers with smooth working surface. In separate cases, for example, for therapeutic purposes, additional influence on biologically active points, which are located on the skin of the back, is necessary too. The influence on such active points during self-massage of the back occurs thanks to additional friction of rough working surface of massage rollers against the surface of the skin of back.
  • Besides, influence on active points during self-massage of the back is possible also due to use of external layer on massage rollers, which is made, for example, from elastic material. The example of such implementation of massage roller is shown on the Fig. 6 - on the housing of the massage roller 14 external layer 15 is located. The influence on active points during self-massage of the back is possible also due to the use of massage rollers with working surface having corrugation, convexity or cavities. The example of implementation of massage roller with convexity is shown on the Fig. 7 - on the housing of massage roller 16 external layer 17 with convexity is located. The example of implementation of massage roller with cavities is shown on the Fig. 8 - on the surface of the housing of massage roller 18 the cavity 19 is located.
  • The second variant of implementation of the housing of the prophylactic massager is also possible. According to the second variant the housing of the device (Fig. 9) is made of the board 20, to which the rest for hands 2 is attached. Longitudinal slit 21 is made in the board. On upper working surface of the board around two long sides the grooves for axles 6 are made. In this variant of implementation of the housing of device the massage rollers spatially are placed in longitudinal slit in the board. This variant of implementation of the housing requires also obligatory presence of supporting elements. As supporting elements may be used any known structures, which allow installing or fixing prophylactic massager horizontally, vertically or in tilted position. The example of implementation of the device with supporting elements is shown on the Fig. 10. On the board 20 supporting elements 21 are placed, on which the board rests in horizontal position.
  • The examples shown only illustrate the invention, but do not limit it.
