Description

    Object of the Invention
  • This present invention refers to a fire door, being of the type which is made up of a fireproof canvas for closure to prevent the passage of the flames in the event of a fire.
  • Background to the Invention
  • Various firefighting systems are known, see eg NL 1025507C , wich include some curtain elements that prevent the passage of the fire passing from one room to another in a building or industrial unit.
  • For example, lateral sliding doors are known, made from a screen or rigid panel, using fireproof materials which in the event of a fire slide along a guide, closing the door opening, thus preventing the heat and fire from passing from one side to another. However, these doors are heavy, therefore their activation requires a great deal of energy and are slow, in addition an over-sized installation is required so as to have the door in the opening position and parallel to the wall.
  • Another type of fire door is made up of a fireproof canvas, rolled in a drum fitted above the door opening. In the event of a fire, this canvas drops to floor level, preventing or delaying the passage of the flames from one room to another.
  • Description of the Invention
  • The fire door, object of the invention, has some technical peculiarities aimed at achieving an effective perimeter closure of the fireproof canvas in the door closure position, and consequently a greater isolation against the fire and the heat, using a simple and safe working mechanism for this, that occupies minimal space.
  • In effect the fire door mainly includes:
    • A fixed frame formed from two vertical profiles and an upper horizontal one in the form of a doorway,
    • A moving gripper frame, likewise formed from two vertical profiles and another upper horizontal one in the form of a doorway, appreciably parallel to the fixed frame and moving between a non-operational position, in which said moving gripper frame is at a distance from the fixed frame, said frames jointly demarcating an intermediary space for the passage of the fireproof canvas, to the opening or closing positions, and an operational position, in which said moving gripper frame presses the fireproof canvas against the fixed frame, thereby making a perimeter seal for the door.
    • A second frame formed by two vertical profiles, appreciably parallel to the fixed frame, serving as a support element for the moving gripper frame, in an opposite position, and
    • An actuating device for shifting the moving gripper frame to the operational position when the fireproof canvas is moved into the closure position.
  • Hence in this way, the existence of perimeter grooves or gaps are eliminated for the passage of the flames or smoke around the sides and across the top of the fireproof canvas, achieving an effective and lasting seal when the fireproof door is closed.
  • The actuating device for the moving gripper frame is mainly formed from:
    • Some pivoted rods, hinged to the moving gripper frame and a support element, just like the second fixed frame, said rods forming some means of guiding the movement of the moving gripper frame between the operational and non-operational positions.
    • At least a lower actuation activation lever, hinged to the moving gripper frame and a support element and,
    • An actuator element fitted to the lower edge of the fireproof canvas for the activation of the lower activation lever and the movement of the moving gripper frame to the operational position when the fireproof canvas reaches the closure position.
  • The actuation lever is aimed towards the inside of the fixed frame, and fitted in the path of the fireproof canvas. Likewise, the actuating device is formed from a weight or bar, fitted to the lower end of the fireproof canvas. This weight or bar has three functions: The first is to make a force for the dropping of the canvas exercising a force that gives rise to the dropping of same; the second is to push the actuating lever when the closure of the door occurs and to guarantee that the moving frame presses the fireproof canvas against the fixed frame; and third, to adjust the fireproof canvas to the floor or lower edge of the opening of the door completing the isolation.
  • The moving gripper frame has a frontal rebate or bevel on the lower edge for the housing of the actuator device. For example, if this actuator device is a bar or something similar, on reaching the lower part of the door, it fits into said rebate, allowing the moving gripper frame to be completely applied onto the fixed frame and without any obstructions.
  • The actuating lever is connected to a spring that tends to hold it in the position corresponding to the non-operating position of the moving gripper frame, thus the mechanism remaining armed, in the absence of the dropping of the fireproof canvas actuator device occurring, for example, by means of the activation of an external sensor or the setting off of a fire prevention alarm.
  • The door can have a second fixed frame, parallel to the first frame that acts to support the moving gripper frame by means of the previously stated actuating device. This second fixed frame and the first fixed frame can be formed from two separate profiles or a single integrated profile, for example of folded sheet metal.
  • The arrangement of the fireproof door equally allows for the incorporation of at least one conventional quick closing canvas in the provisioned for multiple door device, with its technical fireproof characteristics contributing towards the improving of the functionalities of said multiple door.
  • The fixed frame and the moving gripper frame have some arrangements on the sides that face each other which combine for the trapping and sealing of the perimeter of the fireproof canvas. These combined arrangements can be in the form of convex or wedge shape sections, for example, and some 'U' shaped protruding lips that face each other, arranged respectively on both frames.
  • The fireproof canvas has some longitudinal thickening or rows of rivets near to the two vertical sides so as to guide it along the vertical housings of the fixed frame and the moving gripper frame. Likewise, the vertical housings of the fixed frame and the moving gripper frame have some grooves or guides for the movement and holding of the fireproof canvas thickening or rivets. In this way, when the fireproof canvas falls or rises between the fixed frame and the moving gripper frame, it is kept taut and correctly guided, preventing the appearance of possible creases, which bring about a poor adjustment and isolation in the closure position.
  • Description of the Figures
  • In order to complete the description that is being made and for the purpose of providing a better understanding of its characteristics, a set of drawings is attached to this present description in which the figures being by way of illustration and are not by way of limitation on the invention, in which the following is shown:
    • Figure 1 shows a partially sectioned diagrammatic view of a profile of the fire door, and in its non-operational position.
    • Figure 2 shows a partially sectioned view of the fire door in an operating or closure position.
    • Figure 3 shows a transversally sectioned view of the vertical housings of the fixed frame, the moving gripper frame and the fireproof canvas in a non-operational position.
    • Figure 4 shows a transversally sectioned view of the vertical housings of the fixed frame, the moving gripper frame and the fireproof canvas in an operational or closure position.
    • Figure 5 shows a transversally sectioned detailed view of the upper cross members of the fixed frame and the moving gripper frame in a non-operational position, allowing the fireproof canvas to pass.
    • Figure 6 shows a transversally sectioned detailed view of the upper cross members of the fixed frame, the moving gripper frame and the fireproof canvas in an operational or closure or blocked position.
    • Figure 7 shows a transversally sectioned detailed view of an alternative embodiment in which the fixed frame and the moving gripper frame support element are integrated into a single combined profile.
