Description
DEVIATOR/MIXER DEVICE FOR MIXING WATER AND DETERGENT WITH AIR TO FORM FOAM, FOR EXAMPLE FOR SHOWERS OR SINKS
*****
The present invention relates to the hydronic and sanitary-water sector, and in particular refers to a water-mixer/flow-deviator device for taps or showers.
The main purpose of the invention is to provide a mixing device that enables mixing, upon command by the user, of a dispensed amount of detergent and air with the water at the temperature of use.
This has been obtained, according to the present invention, by providing a flow-deviator device with at least one reservoir containing the detergent liquid, designed to be installed upstream of the outlet of the water from the tap or shower head.
A better understanding of the invention will emerge from the ensuing detailed description and with reference to annexed figures, which illustrate some preferred embodiments thereof purely by way of non- limiting example.
In the drawings :
Figure 1 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view of a first embodiment of the invention;
Figure 2 is a 3D view of a second embodiment of the invention;
Figure 3, which is similar to Figure 1, regards, however, the second embodiment illustrated in Figure 2 and, for reasons of clarity of illustration, does not show the reservoir for the detergent;
Figure 4 is a front view of a third embodiment of the invention, which is similar to the first embodiment
illustrated in Figure 1;
Figures 5 and 6 are, respectively, a left-hand side view and right-hand side view of the third embodiment illustrated in Figure 4; Figure 7 is a view from above of the third embodiment illustrated in Figure 4;
Figures 8 and 9 show sections along the plane of trace A-A of Figure 7, and along the plane of trace B-B of Figure 4, respectively; Figure 10 is a front view of a fourth embodiment of the invention, similar to the second embodiment of Figure 2;
Figures 11 and 12 are, respectively, a left-hand side view and right-hand side view of the fourth embodiment illustrated in Figure 10;
Figure 13 is a view from above of Figure 10;
Figures 14 and 15 show sections along the plane of trace A-A and the plane of trace B-B, respectively, of Figure 13. With reference to Figure 1, a first embodiment of the invention envisages a deviator/mixer device D, which can be operated by the user via a purposely provided lever L, comprising mixing means M for mixing the water with the detergent and with air in order to generate soapy water preferably in the form of foam.
In this case, the body of the deviator device D is particularly suitable for being screwed to the wall as a common outlet for the water.
In the example of embodiment that is described, a top reservoir S is provided, constituted by a hopper that is advantageously separable from the body of the
device, which is fixed to the latter by means of a thread or with means of slightly forced slidable coupling.
As may be seen, the first embodiment that is described is provided with two male threads: one for inlet of the water to be wall-mounted and one for outlet of the water - soapy or otherwise - to which the hose that takes to the tap or shower head is to be screwed. According to the invention, the incoming water passes through mixing means M, which comprise: a nozzle, a venturi tube, and a pipe for intake of the air and of the detergent, opening/closing of which is governed via a purposely provided lever L, which, in the example illustrated, controls a needle with corresponding tapered-coupling seat, said needle being displaced axially by the rotation of the lever itself. When the lever L is in the position of opening of the intake duct, the negative pressure generated by the passage of the water in the venturi tube takes in the detergent from a purposely provided intake hole F connected to the reservoir S, whilst the air is taken in through the seat, in which the opening/closing needle of the intake duct described above moves. A second embodiment of the invention, illustrated in Figures 2 and 3, is particularly suitable for being installed upstream of the hose.
In this case, the deviator/mixer device D has a body substantially shaped like a sleeve with a female thread for inlet and a male thread for outlet.
As in the previous case, the incoming water passes
through mixing means M, which comprise: a nozzle; a venturi tube; and a duct for intake of the air and of the detergent, opening/closing of which is governed by a purposely provided lever L, which, in the example illustrated, controls a needle with corresponding tapered-coupling seat, said needle being displaced axially by the rotation of the lever itself. When the lever L is in the position of opening of the intake duct, the negative pressure generated by the passage of the water in the venturi tube takes in the detergent through a purposely provided intake hole F connected to the reservoir S, whilst the air is taken in via the seat in which the opening/closing needle of the intake duct described above moves. A peculiar characteristic of this second embodiment consists in the fact that the reservoir or hopper S is set laterally with respect to the body of the deviator/mixer D and can turn with respect to the axis of said deviator D in order to enable its positioning in a point where it occupies less space.
According to the invention, the reservoir S is connected to the intake hole F via an annular intake groove G coaxial to the body of the deviator/mixer D, whilst tightness is guaranteed by two annular gaskets of the 0-ring type located in respective grooves provided above and below the annular groove G, within which the detergent coming from the reservoir S passes.
Advantageously, to install the device in this second embodiment it is sufficient to unscrew the hose temporarily and then screw it back on the outlet thread of the invention, after screwing the latter on the
thread where the hose was initially fixed.
Actuation of said lever L preferably requires a rotation through 30°.
The advantages of the invention are evident. Amongst these, it should be pointed out that the device so far described can emulsify also oils for the body or perfumed essences, enabling the user to soap himself or herself whilst remaining under the jet of the hot water, as well as reducing the consumption of water and detergent.
With reference to Figures 4 to 9, a third embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the lever L of the first embodiment is replaced by a control ring GC and in that the reservoir S is equipped with a purposely provided channel CA for inlet of the air that is to be mixed with the detergent and water via the venturi tube.
With reference to Figures 10 to 15, as in the previous case, a fourth embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the lever L of the second embodiment is replaced by an outer body CG that can turn together with the reservoir S, and in that the side reservoir S is equipped with a purposely provided channel CA for inlet of the air that is to be mixed with the detergent and water via the venturi tube.
It may also be noted that, unlike the first two embodiments, the third and the fourth embodiments envisage that the air is taken in via the purposely provided duct CA, which is separate and distinct from the one for intake of the detergent.
Finally, it should be noted that in a variant that
applies to all the embodiments the detergent reservoir S can be replaced by a disposable element of corresponding shape, which is designed to be opened at the moment of installation in its own seat. The present invention has been described and illustrated in some of its preferred embodiments, but it is clear that any person skilled in the branch may- make technically and functionally equivalent modifications and/or replacements thereto, whilst still remaining within the sphere of protection of the present industrial patent right.
