Abstract

There is described a sink grid (10), provided with a deodorant and/or fragrant substance which covers smells released by debris and sink waste pipe, in which the deodorant and/or fragrant substance is preferably scented into a solid tablet (22) applied on the lower side of the grid central portion (18) plugging the sink waste hole.

Description

  • The present invention relates to sink grid having noticeable usefulness and comfort in operation since it adds to conventional function of preventing pass of debris dragged by water towards waste pipe of the sink, thus being capable to obstruct the pipe, further innovative function of releasing a deodorant and/or fragrant substance which covers unpleasant smells of debris, also emitted from the waste pipe.
  • For such an aim, the grid, on the lower side of central portion thereof which plug the sink waste hole, is provided with a seat for inserting a solid tablet filled with a deodorant and/or fragrant substance which while contacting hot water will release the pleasant smell of such a substance, by covering or eliminating bad smells of debris and waste pipe.
  • In order not to obstruct in any way the water downflow, the tablet is provided with a set of through holes corresponding to holes of the grid central portion, and in order to obtain the exact correspondence of the two hole sets, the tablet is-provided with a central hole able to engage a corresponding attachment protrusion provided at the middle of the lower side of the grid.
  • Since the hot water pass causes the gradual, slow consumption of the deodorant and/or fragrant substance, the tablet during time undergoes a little narrowing, reason for which through holes thereof are sized a little greater than the corresponding holes of the grid.
  • In a normal daily use of the sink, the charge of the deodorant and/or fragrant substance of the tablet will be consumed within an expected time between one and two months, after which it would be obviously replaced.
  • Though its specific use regards the application onto the sink grid, the tablet can also be placed simply in the dish washer rack, which often has the same problems about bad smells.
  • Moreover, instead of providing a plastic or metal grid and a separate tablet to be applied thereon, a grid could also be provided formed with the same material of the tablet, for which reason the same grid would release directly the deodorant or/and fragrant substance, and therefore it would be replaced every time such a substance is consumed.
  • As a material particularly suitable for forming the tablet or the whole grid, due to its impregnability, strength and flexibility features, besides workability and molding, the plastic known by the abbreviation as EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate) has turned out, but obviously every other material having analogous features and being suited for the aim can be equally proper.
  • The features, objects and advantages of the grid in hand will become even more clear and evident from the following detailed description of its preferred embodiment, givens as illustrative and not limiting, with reference to the annexed drawings, in which:
    • Fig. 1 is a plan view of the lower side o rear side of the grid;
    • Fig. 2 is a plan view of the tablet scented with a deodorant and/or fragrant substance; and
    • Fig. 3 is an exploded view showing grid and tablet before application of the tablet into the respective seat provided in the lower side of the grid.
  • Referring now to the drawings, the grid 10, formed as said with metal, plastic material or even the same material of the tablet, is provided as usual with a set of holes 12 on the sink supporting circular crown 14, and with a second set of holes 16 in its central portion 18 which plug the sink waste hole. Moreover innovatively the lower side of the grid is provided with a circular edge 20 defining the central portion 18 and at the same time forms the housing seat of the tablet 22. In the middle of the central portion 18 there is a engaging protrusion 24 in order to engage the tablet 22 which for this aim is provided with a corresponding slot 26. The tablet 22 is provided with a set of holes 28, with the same shape and corresponding number of holes 16 of the central portion 18, such that by engaging the tablet 22 the holes 28 thereof will be exactly corresponding to said holes 16 6 and therefore they will not obstruct at all the water flow. As just mentioned, the holes 28 are slightly greater than the holes 16 in order to balance the little narrowing thereof occurring little by little when the deodorant and/or fragrant substance is going to be consumed, which could be any one of the perfumes normally used to scent environments and colored depending on the used substance. As just noticed, the whole grid might be formed with scented plastic material which therefore would be one piece and replaced every time the charge of deodorant and/or fragrant substance is consumed.
  • Obviously all those changes, modifications and/or additions, which fall into the technical knowledge field of a man skilled in the art, could be provided for the grid and tablet without diverging from the scope as defined in the appended claims.

Claims (7)

  1. A sink grid, characterized by the fact that it is provided with a deodorant and/or fragrant substance which covers the smells released by debris and sink waste pipe.
  2. The sink grid according to claim 1, characterized by the fact that the deodorant and/or fragrant substance is scented into a solid tablet applied on the lower side of the central portion of the grid that plugs the sink waste hole.
  3. The sink grid according to claim 2, characterized by the fact that the solid tablet is provided with a set of through holes corresponding to holes of the central portion of the grid, and with a central hole engaging in a corresponding engagement provided in the middle of the lower side of the grid, in order to assure the exact correspondence of the two sets of holes so as not to obstruct in any way the water downflow.
  4. The sink grid according to claim 3, characterized by the fact that the through holes of the tablet are sized slightly greater than the corresponding holes of the grid in order to balance the little narrowing during time of the tablet.
  5. The sink grid according to the preceding claims, characterized by the fact that the tablet is formed with the EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate) plastic material.
  6. The sink grid according to the preceding claims, characterized by the fact that the tablet may be placed also in a dish washer.
  7. The sink grid according to claim 1, characterized by the fact that it is formed with plastic material as EVA, scented by the deodorant and/or fragrant substance, so as to eliminating need of the solid applied tablet.
