Definitions
- the invention relates to DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting) technology, and consists of the programmed self-zapping of a decoder due to the identification of the chosen TV event, by using DVB technology and coding by MPEG. It touches the different domains of the DVB:
- This invention is beneficial to all viewers who wish to watch a television event scheduled in the near future, and who have a fear of missing it by forgetfulness or distraction in the zapping of other programs.
- the decoder puts the TV event in question in the field of view of the viewer, without the latter raising a finger.
- the table resulting from this invention given its active nature of executing a previously programmed order, in this case zapping on a preselected event, from its announcement spot or the EPG, represents a bargain for the viewer in view of the distress he is experiencing in the management of his TV programs, at a time when the number of channels continues to increase and the quality of the programs continues to excel.
- DVB is a standard for streaming signaling (DVB tables), which allows any DVB decoder to retrieve received programs.
- the different digitized television channels are multiplexed.
- a TV program consists of the video component stream, the audio component stream, the French subtitle stream, the English subtitle stream, and so on.
- Each of these flows is transported by transport packets that carry the same number for each stream; the Identifier Package (PID).
- PID Identifier Package
- DVB tables are used to determine what a transport packet stream carries with the same PID. The same time reference allows the synchronization between the elementary streams.
- Our project consists in the development of a new DVB table providing an additional service to those already existing.
- This table is supposed to inform the decoder of the beginning of each event of each channel that can be received by the latter, while being stalled on a single channel, so that it can compare its identity with those events captured by the viewer, in a previous time, in order to look at them. Also, this table is supposed to provide the decoder course on screen throughout its broadcast, to allow the seizure.
- the decoder takes the initiative of zapping on the TV channel broadcasting this event automatically. So the viewer will not have to worry about missing the TV events that he likes to watch, this task will be left to the decoder. Like a secretary who manages the appointments of his boss.
- each TV event or event announcement must have an encrypted identity so that upon reception at the decoder, each event or event announcement will be individually identified.
- This identity will be carried by the NEIT table (Network Event Identity Table) which will include (will bear) the identity of each event of each program that can be received by the decoder.
- the NEIT table will be part of the set of tables in each program; in other words, the Program Map Table (PMT) for each program must include the NEIT PID in addition to the PIDs of the other tables that make up the program.
- NEIT is unique for all programs. For example, a TV program consists of the video component stream, the audio component stream, the French subtitle stream, the event identity and event announcement stream, etc. etc.
- the decoder recognizes the packets associated with the identification corresponding to the selected program and ignores the others.
- the selected program includes among its tables the NEIT, which informs the decoder of the identity of the events being broadcast and those just coming from compare the identity of each event that has just started with the identity of the events that were entered to be viewed. If any of these freshly received events are identified as such, the decoder automatically zaps to the channel where this event is broadcast.
- the viewer can enter the identity of the selected TV event from the identity of the ad spot of the same event, available on the decoder at the time of the broadcast of this ad spot.
- the viewer can enter the identity of the TV event chosen during the broadcast of the same event so that it is then recognized and auto-zapped by the decoder at the beginning of a subsequent rebroadcast.
- the viewer can enter the identity of the TV event selected from the descriptive box of this event, available on the electronic program guide (EPG).
- EPG electronic program guide
- the first condition is that the identity of the announcement spot of the event must contain the identity of the same event, in order to allow the entry.
- the second condition is that the identity of the announcement spot of the event, must have a prefix that identifies as much as the announcement of the event, not the event itself.
- the EPG in addition to the information it provides on the programs, to also provide the identity code of each TV event, in order to allow it to be entered.
- the NEIT table (Network Event Identity Table) is a DVB table defined in the MPEG standard, which is supposed to convey the identity of each broadcast TV event or event announcement. This identity is unique for each event or event announcement. It must also include the identity of the channel on which this event is broadcast so that the decoder can zap on the event.
- the identity code of a TV event must indicate if it is its first broadcast, first rebroadcast, second or third. For example, if a viewer follows a TV series, and can only be at home after work at 18H00 and he sleeps at 23H00. In this case, it captures the replay of the TV series that passes in this time slot, for example if the second rebroadcast goes to 21H00, it only captures the latter, so that the decoder only zap on the second replay, in ignoring others broadcast.
- the viewer can enter the identity of the newscast of a given channel, which the decoder can have it zap daily on an automatic basis.
