- a flat screen has three major differences with a simple tablet. It is heavier and bulkier. Its size and weight are equivalent to those of a laptop. Typically, the screen size is rectangular, of the sheet type "A4". On the other hand, the screen generally includes power and communication cables that do not facilitate handling. Finally, it is more fragile and a much higher cost. It is therefore essential that when the user manipulates this screen for use or storage, these operations are simple, do not require special efforts for the user and can be done safely for the screen.
- this type of tablet can be used either in the cockpit or in the passenger cabin.
- the screen provides additional information to the display screens arranged in a fixed manner on the dashboard. It can be used especially in certain phases of flight or on the ground. Indeed, certain information needs to be displayed only temporarily and can be displayed on retractable screens. Generally, these retractable screens are stored under the dashboard, which necessarily limits their size and weight.
- the screen may allow the passenger to inquire, communicate or distract.
- the screen is traditionally stored either in the back of the previous seat or in the armrest.
- the current systems have simple vertical movements that do not allow the use or storage of large screens, the retraction can not be complete.

- the armrest comprises a damper system integral with the armrest and the carriage, the damper system may comprise a cable passing through at least one movable pulley secured to a return spring.
- the articulated support arm comprises a hinge integral with the arm and the movable carriage arranged so that the screen can switch from the second high position in which the screen is in position. substantially vertical position at a third high position in which the screen is in a substantially horizontal position. It may also include a ball joint for rotating the screen 90 degrees in a horizontal plane from the third position to a fourth position.
- the screen comprises a movable protective cover allowing the screen to be used as a tablet, the screen may also include at least one handle.
- the seat may include motorization means ensuring at least the carriage movement, said means controlled by a user sitting on the seat.

- the screen comprises either control buttons, a touch surface or a transparent touch screen disposed on the display surface. It is preferable, since the screen can be used as a tablet, that the screen has a certain tightness to the dust and liquids.
- the screen comprises a support arm 22.
- One end of the arm is articulated by means of a hinge 23, itself mounted on a movable carriage 24.
- the carriage is integral with said rail and movable in translation, causing the screen between a first low storage position and a second high position of the screen.
- the carriage comprises three drive rollers located on either side of the rail.
- the other end of the arm is linked to the screen 2 by means of a mechanical ball 25.
- the screen may comprise a mobile cover 21 as shown in FIGS. 2 and 4 to 8. It may also comprise handles 27 allowing to facilitate the manipulation of the screen.
- the mechanical parts are made of lightweight materials and the articulated arm may include grooves or cells so as to lighten the mechanical assembly as much as possible;
- the damping system is made by means of a cable 42 passing through seven pulleys 45. Four of these pulleys are fixed and integral with the armrest 4. The other three pulleys are secured to movable rods 44. connected to the return springs 43 so that when the carriage slides along the rail, the cable pulls on the movable pulleys, causing the extension of the return springs. This dampens the weight of the screen.
- a stop 46 located on the armrest limits the stroke of the screen.
- other damping systems are conceivable.
- the display screen can adopt four different positions shown in Figures 1 to 8.
- the screen is in the low position of storage or retracted position, it is pressed vertically against the armrest and completely clears the space in front of the seated person.
- the safety stop limits the stroke of the screen.
- the screen is shown without its protective cover 21 and in Figure 2, the cache is shown.
- the display screens are rectangular. It is interesting to be able to use the screen either in “portrait” or “text” mode, or in “landscape” mode.
- the support arm comprises a ball joint 25 for rotating the screen and the cover of 90 degrees in a substantially horizontal plane of the third use position called “landscape” to a fourth use position called “portrait” or " text "as shown in Figure 7.
- Figure 8 shows a bottom view of the screen in the horizontal high position. This view shows the arrangement details of the ball joint 25 and two handles 27 consisting of angled cylindrical rods. As seen in this view, the cover 21 may include holes 26 in which the cups may be disposed when the cover is used in a meal tray holder.
- the rail then comprises a rack and the carriage a wheel or a pinion gear integral with this rack.
