Abstract
A riding device includes a crank device rotatably attached to a base, and a rider support supported on a carrier and movable relative to the base for supporting a rider, the carrier has a front portion pivotally coupled to the base and a rear portion coupled to the cranks for moving cyclically relative to the base and for allowing the carrier to be moved in an elliptical action relative to the base by the crank device, and a motor or motorized rotating device for rotating the crank device relative to the base in the cyclic action to actuate the carrier and the rider support to move relative to the base in an elliptical action.
Description
- The invention relates to a rodeo or riding device.
- Typical riding or rodeo devices comprise a drive mechanism having a crank arm coupled to a rider support to simulate the bucking and/or spinning motions of a rodeo animal attempting to unseat its rider.
- However, the drive mechanism is solidly coupled to the rider support with the crank arm such that the rider support may not be moved relative to the crank arm and the drive mechanism in an elliptical action and in different moving stroke.
- The invention is to provide a rodeo or riding device including a rider support supported on a carrier which is movable relative to a base by the user or by a motorized driving or rotating device.
-
FIGS. 1 ,2 are perspective views of a riding device; -
FIGS. 3 ,4 are partial exploded views of the riding device; and -
FIGS. 5 ,6 are side plan views of the riding device. - Referring to
FIGS. 1-5 , a riding device comprises an I-shaped base 10 including acolumn 11 extended from one orfront end 18, astud 12 extended from the other orrear end 19, acrank device 13 or one or more (such as two)cranks 13 attached to thestud 12 with anaxle 14, apole 15 is attached to the free end of eachcrank 13. Acarrier 30 includes one or more (such as two)levers front end 33 coupled together with a barrel which is coupled to thecolumn 11 with alink 16 and apin 17, in which thelink 16 may be directly or indirectly coupled to thecolumn 11, abar 34 is coupled between thelevers carrier 30 includes arear end 35 coupled to thepoles 15 of thecranks 13 directly or indirectly with apendulum 39 for being moved by thecranks 13 or for swinging relative to thecranks 13 with thependulum 39. Ahousing 36 is disposed on thebar 34 for supporting arider support 37 and a rider, therider support 37 may be adjusted up and down relative to thehousing 36 and thecarrier 30. - The
rear portion 35 of thelevers carrier 30 may move cyclically relative to thebase 10 with thecranks 13, and may swing with thependulum 39, and thefront end 33 of thecarrier 30 is pivotally coupled to thebase 10 with thelink 16 and thepin 17 for swinging relative to thebase 10 such that thecarrier 30 may be moved relative to thebase 10 in an elliptical action by thecranks 13 and by the rider. A driving or rotatingdevice 20 is disposed on thebase 10 and coupled to thecranks 13 in order to rotate thecranks 13, and includes apulley 21 attached to thestud 12 with ashaft 22, and amotor 23 disposed on thebase 10 and having a spindle 24 (FIG. 3 ) coupled to thepulley 21 with a coupling belt ordevice 25, for rotating thepulley 21, and afly wheel 26 attached to thestud 12 with theaxle 14 and coupled to theshaft 22 of thepulley 21 with another coupling belt or device 27 (FIGS. 5-6 ), for allowing thepulley 21 and thecranks 13 to be driven by themotor 23. Abrake device 28 may be engaged with thebelt 27 for braking thefly wheel 26 of the motor driving or rotating means ordevice 20. - An
arm 40 may be coupled to thecolumn 11 with apin 41, and thelink 16 has anupper portion 44 coupled to thearm 40 with apole 45 which is spaced from thepin 41, and anactuating lever 42 is coupled to one of thecranks 13 and coupled to thearm 40 with arod 43 which is spaced from thepin 41 and thepole 45, and thepole 45 is disposed between thepin 41 and therod 43, such that thearm 40 may be moved by thecranks 13, and thepole 45 or theupper portion 44 of thelink 16 may be moved in a curve around thepin 41 and may be moved up and down relative to thecolumn 11 for allowing thecarrier 30 and therider support 37 to be moved in a changing or increased or different moving strokes. - The
link 16 may be directly coupled to thecolumn 11 and may swing relative to thecolumn 11, but may not be moved up and down relative to thecolumn 11. The pivotal coupling of theupper portion 44 of thelink 16 to thearm 40 with thepole 45 allows thepole 45 or theupper portion 44 of thelink 16 to be moved up and down relative to thecolumn 11 and allows therider support 37 to be moved in the changing or increased or different moving strokes.
