Definitions
- the present invention relates to the field of mosquito screens.
- mosquitoes are one of the most widespread and annoying insects and, to limit damage and, of course, annoyance thereof, a number of measures, both direct (chemical or natural insecticides) and indirect (disinfestation of areas subject to the presence of larvae and/or insects), have been adopted.
- Mosquito screens are essentially composed of a frame (which is fitted to the opening to be protected by means of appropriate, optionally removable fastening means) and by a net with a very fine mesh capable of sliding from one side of the frame to the other through appropriate tensioning and return means present in or on this frame to prevent the entry of insects through the opening (door or window) in which the frame is fitted.
- the net can slide either vertically (from the top towards the bottom and vice versa) or horizontally (from right to left or vice versa).
- one upright is fastened to the jamb of the opening to be screened (fixed upright) while the other (moving upright) is free to slide pulling the net during extraction or pushing it during retraction against the fixed upright; the net in this case is normally pleated to minimize the space occupied thereby during retraction.
- All horizontal sliding mosquito screens are particularly suitable not only to screen the openings of buildings but also, for example, to screen the doors and/or windows of caravans, camping vans, etc..
- they have the defect of occupying space in the opening in which they are positioned even when retracted, which is of significant importance especially when the dimensions these openings are limited (such as the door of a camping van).
- the present invention relates to a horizontally sliding mosquito screen in which one of the two uprights is provided with a hinge capable of allowing rotation thereof and therefore of minimizing the space occupied thereby.
- Figure 1 shows a view of an upright of a mosquito screen according to the invention with relative hinge respectively closed (a) and open (b).
- the present invention overcomes the aforesaid problems by providing a horizontally sliding mosquito screen in which one of the uprights has a hinge which allows rotation of the upright about its vertical axis, thereby minimising the space occupied by the mosquito screen.
- the mosquito screen 10 has a hinge 11, attached integrally, by means of the relative pivots 12, to the upright which is normally fastened to the jamb of the opening to be protected against entry of insects.
- the hinge is in turn attached to the jamb of the opening so that its two pivots 12 (only one of which is shown in the figure) coincide with the outer edge of the opening.
Abstract
Description
- The present invention relates to the field of mosquito screens.
- As it is known mosquitoes are one of the most widespread and annoying insects and, to limit damage and, of course, annoyance thereof, a number of measures, both direct (chemical or natural insecticides) and indirect (disinfestation of areas subject to the presence of larvae and/or insects), have been adopted.
- However, a means that is always efficient and above all has none of the contraindications often found in the (at times indiscriminate) use of chemical products, is constituted by mosquito screens installed to protect doors and windows to prevent insects from entering in homes.
- Among horizontally sliding mosquito screens, screens have recently become available in which the frame is composed of two uprights parallel and mutually joined by means of two flexible rails, which in the retracted position are housed inside one of the two uprights positioned side-by-side, while in the extended position they form the other two sides of the frame. In these mosquito screens the net is connected to the uprights with two of its sides parallel while the other two sides can slide in the cavity of the rails ensuring an effective barrier against insects.
- Naturally, one upright is fastened to the jamb of the opening to be screened (fixed upright) while the other (moving upright) is free to slide pulling the net during extraction or pushing it during retraction against the fixed upright; the net in this case is normally pleated to minimize the space occupied thereby during retraction.
- All horizontal sliding mosquito screens are particularly suitable not only to screen the openings of buildings but also, for example, to screen the doors and/or windows of caravans, camping vans, etc.. However, notwithstanding their unquestionable practicality, they have the defect of occupying space in the opening in which they are positioned even when retracted, which is of significant importance especially when the dimensions these openings are limited (such as the door of a camping van).
- The present invention relates to a horizontally sliding mosquito screen in which one of the two uprights is provided with a hinge capable of allowing rotation thereof and therefore of minimizing the space occupied thereby.
-
Figure 1 shows a view of an upright of a mosquito screen according to the invention with relative hinge respectively closed (a) and open (b). - The present invention overcomes the aforesaid problems by providing a horizontally sliding mosquito screen in which one of the uprights has a hinge which allows rotation of the upright about its vertical axis, thereby minimising the space occupied by the mosquito screen.
- As can be seen from the figure, the
mosquito screen 10 according to the invention has ahinge 11, attached integrally, by means of therelative pivots 12, to the upright which is normally fastened to the jamb of the opening to be protected against entry of insects. - The hinge is in turn attached to the jamb of the opening so that its two pivots 12 (only one of which is shown in the figure) coincide with the outer edge of the opening.
- It is evident how the solution proposed allows the upright to be rotated about the axis of the pivots of the hinge and therefore the entire body of the mosquito screen to be carried outside the opening, with a rotation of 270°, leaving the entire opening free for the user.
Claims (7)
- A horizontally sliding mosquito screen provided with a hinge.
- A mosquito screen (10) according to claim 1 wherein said hinge (11) is attached integrally to the fixed upright of said mosquito screen by means of the relative pivots (12).
- A mosquito screen (10) according to claim 1 and 2 wherein said hinge is capable of allowing a rotation of the fixed upright of at least 270° about the axis that passes through the pivots (12) of the hinge (11).
- A mosquito screen according to claims 1-3, wherein said screen is of the sliding type.
- A process for mounting the mosquito screen according to claims 1-4, wherein said hinge is fastened on one side to the fixed upright of the mosquito screen and with the other side to the jamb of the opening so that the pivots are aligned with the outer edge of the opening.
- A mosquito screen according to claims 1-4, for use in caravans, camping vans and the like.
- A mosquito screen according to claims 1-4, for use in doors, windows and French doors of buildings.
