Anschließend werden einer Identifizierungsinformation das Nummernschild und der Standplatz des Kraftfahrzeuges zugeordnet und gespeichert. Nach Anfrage durch Eingabe zumindest eines Teils der Identifizierungsinformation wird eine Position des Standplatzes angezeigt. Auf diese Weise ist es dem Kraftfahrzeughalter in einfacher Art und Weise möglich den Standort seines Kraftfahrzeuges ermitteln und anzeigen zu lassen. Hierzu kann der Kraftfahrzeughalter beispielsweise durch Eingabe seines Nummernschildes an einem dafür vorgesehenen Abfragegerät oder durch Weitergabe an einen Servicemitarbeiter den Standort abfragen. Nach einer weiteren Variante wird dem Kraftfahrzeughalter beim Bezahlen des Parktickets an der Bezahlstation der ermittelte Standort angezeigt oder ausgedruckt.
