Manchmal mag dieser Effekt ja beabsichtigt sein; in der Regel ist er jedoch optisch wenig ansprechend und erzielt er nicht die gewünschte Wirkung. Eine gezielte Einfärbung der Kunststoffflasche kann auch für nachfolgende Verarbeitungs- schritte von Nutzen sein, beispielsweise um den Ettiketierbereich hervorzuheben oder um einem roboter gesteuerten Transport- und/ oder Bearbeitungssystem die Mustererkennung zu erleichtern.
