  • Shin guards are protective devices worn by athletes in a variety of sports to protect their lower legs. For example, soccer players regularly wear shin guards to protect their lower legs from injuries associated with being inadvertently kicked by another player during a game. It is important that shin guards offer suitable protection, while still being comfortable and lightweight and without restricting the mobility of the wearer.

  • a strap mount 18' can extend from the resilient shin conform pad 16 above the substantially rigid shell 14 to thereby allow the substantially horizontal plane 108 to avoid intersecting the substantially rigid shell 14. Accordingly, the upper strap 22 cuffs the wearer's shin in substantially the same manner as with the lower mounted strap 20.
  • a wearer mounts the shin guard 10 by first positing the shin guard over their shins at the desired locations on their legs. He or she then wraps the straps 20, 22 around their legs and secures them using the adjustment structure 24 provided on each strap. It can be appreciated that since the strap mounting portion 18 is resilient and spaced away from the substantially rigid shell, the strap 20 can cuff completely around the wearer's leg, thereby improving comfort and fit while still holding the shin guard securely in place during use.
  • the wearer removes the shin guards 10 by reversing the installation process.

Claims (13)

  1. Schienbeinschützer (10), Folgendes umfassend:
    ein elastisches, auf das Schienbein angepasstes Kissen (16);
    eine langgestreckte, im Wesentlichen steife Schale (14), die an dem langgestreckten, auf das Schienbein angepassten Kissen (16) befestigt ist;
    wobei ein Teil des elastischen, auf das Schienbein angepassten Kissens (16) sich weg von der langgestreckten, im Wesentlichen steifen Schale (14) erstreckt und eine Bandauflage (18) definiert;
    ein Band (20), um den Schienbeinschützer (10) am Bein eines Trägers zu fixieren, wobei das Band (20) eine in Längsrichtung laufende Mittellinie hat, die derart an der Bandauflage (18) fixiert ist, dass die in Längsrichtung laufende Mittellinie sich während der Verwendung nicht mit der langgestreckten, im Wesentlichen steifen Schale (14) überkreuzt;
    wobei ein zweiter Teil des elastischen, auf das Schienbein angepassten Kissens (16) sich weg von der langgestreckten, im Wesentlichen steifen Schale (14) erstreckt und eine zweite Bandauflage (18') definiert; und,
    ein zweites Band (20'), um den Schienbeinschützer (10) am Bein eines Trägers zu fixieren, wobei das zweite Band (20') eine in Längsrichtung laufende Mittellinie hat, die derart an der zweiten Bandauflage (18') fixiert ist, dass die in Längsrichtung laufende Mittellinie sich während der Verwendung nicht mit der langgestreckten, im Wesentlichen steifen Schale (14) überkreuzt.
  2. Schienbeinschützer (10) nach Anspruch 1, der außerdem eine Anpassungsstruktur (24) umfasst, die funktionsfähig am Band (20) fixiert ist, um eine stufenlose Anpassung des Bands (20) um das Bein des Trägers herum zu gestatten.
  3. Schienbeinschützer (10) nach Anspruch 2, wobei die Anpassungsstruktur (24) Folgendes umfasst:
    das Band (20), das Folgendes hat: ein erstes Ende, ein entgegengesetztes zweites Ende, eine Außenfläche und eine Innenfläche und wobei das erste Ende fest an der Bandauflage (18) fixiert ist;
    einen ersten Abschnitt mit Klettverschlussmaterial, das an der Außenfläche des Bands (20) in Richtung des Endes fixiert ist;
    einen zweiten zugehörigen Abschnitt mit Klettverschlussmaterial, das an der Innenfläche des Bands (20) in Richtung des entgegengesetzten zweiten Endes fixiert ist.
  4. Schienbeinschützer (10) nach Anspruch 2, wobei die Anpassungsstruktur (24) Folgendes umfasst:
    die Bandauflage (18), die eine Öffnung in sich hat, um durch diese das Band (20) aufzunehmen;
    das Band (20), das Folgendes hat: ein erstes Ende, ein entgegengesetztes zweites Ende, eine Außenfläche und eine Innenfläche und wobei das erste Ende fest an der Bandauflage (18) fixiert ist;
    wobei auf dem entgegengesetzten zweiten Ende des Bands (20) ein Befestigungsmittel vorgesehen ist, derart, dass das Befestigungsmittel das zweite Ende in der Position hält, wenn es um die Öffnung geschlungen ist.
  5. Schienbeinschützer (10) nach Anspruch 4, wobei das Befestigungsmittel ein Klettverschlussmaterial ist.
  6. Schienbeinschützer (10) nach Anspruch 2, wobei:
    das Band (20) einen ersten Abschnitt hat, der ein erstes Ende und ein entgegengesetztes zweites Ende definiert, sowie einen zweiten Abschnitt, der ein erstes Ende und ein zweites Ende definiert;
    wobei die ersten Enden fest an der Bandauflage (18) fixiert sind;
    wobei die zweiten Enden ein Befestigungsmittel haben, das funktionsfähig an diesen fixiert ist, derart, dass die zweiten Enden einander überlappen, wenn der Schienbeinschützer (10) auf dem Bein eines Trägers platziert wird, derart, dass das Befestigungsmittel den Schienbeinschützer (10) am Bein des Trägers in der Position hält.
  7. Schienbeinschützer (10) nach Anspruch 6, wobei das Befestigungsmittel ein Klettverschlussmaterial ist.
  8. Schienbeinschützer (10) nach Anspruch 1, wobei das Band (20) von der Bandauflage (18) getrennt ist.
  9. Schienbeinschützer (10) nach Anspruch 1, wobei das Band (20) fest an der Bandauflage (18) fixiert ist.
  10. Schienbeinschützer (10) nach Anspruch 1, wobei die zweite Bandauflage (18') in einem Abstand senkrecht über der im Wesentlichen steifen Schale (14) angeordnet ist und die Bandauflage (18) in einem Abstand senkrecht unter der im Wesentlichen steifen Schale (14) angeordnet ist.
  11. Verfahren zum Anbringen eines Schienbeinschützers (10) am Bein eines Trägers, wobei der Schienbeinschützer (10) einen langgestreckten, im Wesentlichen steifen Schalenteil hat, der funktionsfähig mit einem elastischen, auf das Schienbein angepassten Kissen (16) verbunden ist, wobei das elastische, auf das Schienbein angepasste Kissen (16) einen Bandauflagebereich hat, der sich ausgehend von diesem erstreckt und der einen Abstand von dem langgestreckten, im Wesentlichen steifen Schalenteil hat, wobei das elastische, auf das Schienbein angepasste Kissen (16) einen zweiten Bandauflagebereich hat, der sich ausgehend von diesem erstreckt und der einen Abstand von dem langgestreckten, im Wesentlichen steifen Schalenteil hat, wobei das Verfahren die folgenden Schritte umfasst:
    Positionieren des Schienbeinschützers (10) am Schienbein eines Trägers;
    Fixieren eines langestreckten Bandes (20), das eine in Längsrichtung laufende Mittellinie hat, um das Bein des Trägers und den Auflagebereich herum, derart, dass die in Längsrichtung laufende Mittellinie sich nicht mit dem langgestreckten, im Wesentlichen steifen Schalenteil des Schienbeinschützers (10) überkreuzt; und
    Fixieren, um das Bein des Trägers und den Schienbeinschützer (10), eines zweiten Bandes, das eine in Längsrichtung laufende Mittellinie hat, um das Bein des Trägers und einen zweiten Auflagebereich herum, derart, dass die in Längsrichtung laufende Mittellinie sich nicht mit dem langgestreckten, im Wesentlichen steifen Schalenteil des Schienbeinschützers (10) überkreuzt.
  12. Verfahren zum Anbringen eines Schienbeinschützers (10) am Bein eines Trägers nach Anspruch 11, das außerdem einen Schritt zum festen Fixieren eines Abschnitts des Bandes (20) an der Bandauflage (18) umfasst.
  13. Verfahren zum Anbringen eines Schienbeinschützers (10) am Bein eines Trägers nach Anspruch 11, das außerdem einen Schritt zum abtrennbaren Fixieren eines Abschnitts des Bandes (20) an der Bandauflage (18) umfasst.
