Abstract

The present invention refers to a lamp with a digitalized image on a glass shade (1). It consists of a combined lamp-picture device, such that the actual device incorporates a digital image. Accordingly, two products are obtained in one, with the result that we go from having a lamp and an image to having solely the device of the invention, incorporating a lamp and image in a single appliance.

Description

    Object of the invention
  • The present invention refers to a lamp with a digitalized image on a glass shade. It consists of a combined lamp-picture device, such that the actual device incorporates a digital image. Accordingly, two products are obtained in one, with the result that we go from having a lamp and an image to having solely the device of the invention, incorporating a lamp and image in a single appliance.
  • Background of the invention
  • In the present state of the art we are familiar with photograph frames with a built-in light. It is the case for example of utility model ES 1042941 U , which consists of a picture frame with a light, made up of a quadrangular centre piece in which the picture is fitted, protected with the glass, and where a fluorescent tube is positioned at the back to light up the picture.
  • Likewise, utility model ES 239674 U consists of a picture structure, composed of a conventional moulding, on the back of which a frame is disposed that acts as a wall mounting. In addition, it is provided with two transparent plates, retained by the moulding, between which the image to be shown is positioned, with the result that the light traverses the transparent plates with a different intensity from the area occupied by the decorative print.
  • These models, however, present drawbacks in that, for instance, the decorative image, picture or the like may deteriorate in the course of time. Both models, in turn, have the disadvantage that they utilize more components to achieve a similar effect to the device proposed with a result of poorer quality. Furthermore, the invention proposed not only sets out to highlight the image shown, but is also used as a lamp. In this respect, specifically in the second model mentioned above, ES 239674 U , the problem arises when the intention really is to use the device as a lamp for lighting purposes, as the light traverses the transparent plates with a different intensity from the areas where the image is situated, giving rise to a loss in the quantity and quality of the light, so that it is not so pure as in the device proposed. The same happens with the fact that the light has to traverse the plastic and two glasses, as it passes through more than one surface, with a similar impairment in light quantity and quality too.
  • Description of the invention
  • The present invention resolves the above-mentioned problems in a fully satisfactory manner. It consists of a combination of image and lamp at the same time, i.e. it successfully combines in a single device on the one hand a glass lamp for lighting purposes and, on the other, a decorative image, whether it be a reproduction of a painting, a photograph or similar, provided that it is in digital format.
  • The device proposed by the invention consists of a flat glass shade which is supported by conventional means of attachment to the wall, ceiling, pedestal, etc. so that it thereby becomes a wall, ceiling, pedestal, etc. lamp. Lighting means are provided on the device proposed, such that it may be turned on and off like an ordinary lamp by means of a switch. A digital image, photograph, reproductions of paintings, etc. may be incorporated on the aforesaid shade. The image is printed directly onto the glass, which means that the resultant film of ink does not prevent the passage of light, as could happen with any other type of material with an image, such as paper, transparency, etc., which furthermore could deteriorate in the course of time.
  • To assure the adhesion of the ink to the glass, the glass may be prepared beforehand with a varnish for the purpose of the printing of said image on the glass. The same thing happens when the printing has been completed, as the application of another varnish will thereby ensure that the ink will not deteriorate with the passing of time. The above-mentioned printing process produces greater definition than with such different processes for instance as silk-screen printing.
  • The glass shade may be changed for another one so as to obtain a different lamp without having to replace the whole lamp for this purpose.
  • Description of the drawings
  • To supplement the description that is being given and in order to assist in a clearer understanding of the features of the invention, in accordance with a preferred practical embodiment of same, a set of drawings is adjoined as an integral part of said description, wherein there is represented on an informative and non-restrictive basis the following:
    • Figure 1.- It shows a front view of the lamp, where we may observe the glass shade (1) with the digitalized image and the glass retaining system (2).
    • Figure 2.- It shows a profile view of the lamp so that the lighting system (3) may be seen.
    • Figure 3.- It shows a perspective view of the lamp.
    Preferred embodiment of the invention
  • The invention consists of a flat glass shade (1), which is mounted on the wall, ceiling, a pedestal, etc. with conventional means of attachment and which has lighting means (3), so that it thereby becomes a lamp that is turned on and off with a switch just like any conventional lamp. One of the essential features of the invention consists of the digital printing on the afore-mentioned flat shade (1) of a digitalized image, whether it be a photograph, scanned image or any other similar one, providing that it is in digital format. In this way, higher definition is achieved than with other different processes such as silk-screen printing for example. Before carrying out the printing of the digital image, optionally the glass may be prepared with a coat of varnish, which ensures that the ink adheres to the glass, lying between the glass shade and the printed image. The image is printed directly onto the glass so that the film of ink does not stop light from passing through, in addition to the fact that it does not deteriorate in the course of time, as is the case of such other material as paper or transparencies. Once the printing has been completed, we can ensure that the ink does not deteriorate with the passing of time by applying another coat of varnish.
  • To obtain a lamp with a different photograph, we merely have to change the glass shade (1) for another one with a different image by removing it from the retaining mechanism (2).

Claims (2)

  1. Lamp with a digitalized image on a glass shade characterised in that it comprises a flat plate of glass provided with conventional retaining means for mounting it on the wall, ceiling, a pedestal, etc., which has means for lighting, and a digital image is incorporated on said glass plate, a first coat of varnish then being applied, and where the shade is easily removable from its fastening mechanism.
  2. Lamp with a digitalized image on the glass shade, according to claim 1, characterised in that the glass shade is coated externally with a second film of varnish which lies between the glass shade and the printed image.
