Abstract
Description
- The present invention relates to the sector of channels for collecting rain water, known as gutters, and in particular relates to the supporting brackets, or gutter brackets, which are used for fixing said channels to the line of eaves.
- There are currently known different types of gutter brackets. These can be divided substantially into two types: brackets that pass underneath the channel or gutter (which are visible from beneath) on which the latter rests; and brackets from which the gutter hangs (which are not visible from beneath).
- The present invention relates to the second type of gutter brackets, which, since they remain out of sight after being set in place, can be defined as "hidden".
- Currently, there exist hidden gutter brackets in which fixing of the suspended gutter is obtained using a snap-action system.
FR-A1-2798411 claim 1. - A first purpose of the invention is to provide a hidden engagement device for gutters that will guarantee a firm fixing of the channel to the line of eaves of the building, eliminating the possibility of any accidental release occurring.
- A second purpose of the invention is to provide a hidden engagement device for gutters that will enable fast fixing of the gutter to be set in place.
- A third purpose of the invention is to provide a hidden engagement device for gutters that will enable convenient release of the gutter from the bracket in the case of need.
- The above and other purposes are achieved by providing a fixing device according to
claim 1 comprising, in combination, means for anchorage to the structure of the building, means for engagement of the gutter, and removable means for coupling the engagement means to said anchorage means. - A better understanding of the invention will be obtained from the ensuing detailed description with reference to the figures of the annexed plate of drawings, which illustrate, purely by way of nonlimiting example, some preferred embodiments thereof.
- In the plate of drawings:
-
Figure 1 is an exploded three-dimensional view of a first embodiment of the invention; -
Figure 2A is a three-dimensional view of a bracket for anchoring the structure, with an enlarged detail; -
Figure 2B is a side elevation of the bracket ofFigure 2A ; -
Figure 2C is a cross-sectional view according to the plane of trace B-B ofFigure 2B , with an enlarged detail; -
Figure 3A is a three-dimensional view of a plate for engagement of the gutter; -
Figure 3B is a side elevation of the plate ofFigure 3A ; -
Figure 4A is a three-dimensional view of a key for coupling the plate to the bracket; -
Figure 4B is a side elevation of the key ofFigure 4A ; -
Figure 5 is an assembled side elevation of the embodiment of the invention ofFigure 1 ; -
Figure 6 , which is similar toFigure 5 , shows the application to a differently shaped gutter; -
Figure 7 , which is similar toFigure 1 , relates to a second embodiment of the invention; -
Figures 8A and 8B , which are similar toFigures 3A and 3B , relate to the embodiment ofFigure 7 ; and -
Figures 9 and 10 , which are similar toFigures 5 and 6 , relate to the embodiment ofFigure 7 . - With reference to
Figures 1 to 6 , a first embodiment of the invention, which is particularly suitable for fixing the gutter G to the roof, comprises: means for anchorage to the structure of the building, in this case to the roof, which are constituted by ashaped bracket 1; means for engagement of the gutter G, constituted by ashaped bar 2; and removable coupling means, constituted bykeys 3 designed to block saidbar 2 on saidbracket 1. - According to a first peculiar characteristic of the invention, said
bar 2 and saidbracket 1 are shaped so as to be perfectly superimposable, for at least one part, located in a position corresponding to the open top side of the gutter G, which is characterized by two top edges that are the same as one another, which project outwards and are curled towards the inner part of the channel itself. Said edges define an internal engagement seat for the front end (which is further away from the roof) of thebar 2, and an external engagement seat for the rear end (which is closer to the roof) of thesame bar 2. The first engagement seat is defined by the front edge BA of the gutter G, whilst the second is defined by the rear edge BP of the same gutter G. - For this purpose, said
bar 2 for engagement of the gutter envisages a front end curved upwards and a rear end curved downwards: the shape of said curved ends is such as to mate, respectively, with the internal end of the front edge of the gutter G and the external end of the rear edge thereof. -
Figures 1 and5 show clearly that fixing of the gutter to the roof is obtained by fixing thegutter brackets 1 to the roof, slotting theengagement plates 2 by snap-action on the gutter G itself and subsequently coupling each of saidengagement plates 2 with therespective gutter bracket 1 by means of the purposely providedrotating keys 3. - Advantageously, according to the invention, snap-action fixing of the
engagement plates 2 to the gutter G can conveniently be performed on the ground, whilst the subsequent coupling to thegutter brackets 1 is particularly easy and convenient thanks to thekeys 3 that function also as centring elements, markedly limiting the complexity of the operations that the workers have to carry out at the height of the eaves. - A second peculiar characteristic of the invention consists in the fact that, to prevent any accidental release of the gutter G from the
gutter bracket 1, the latter envisages a projectingelement 4 facing downwards, which functions as shoulder to prevent the rear edge BP of the gutter from possibly sliding out of the curved rear end of theengagement bar 2. - With particular reference to
Figure 5 , which shows the invention completely assembled, as it appears once it is set in place, saidshoulder element 4 prevents the rear edge BP of the gutter from making any movement of disengagement from the rear end of theengagement bar 2. - For this purpose the engagement bar is equipped, in a position corresponding to the initial stretch of its rear curved end, with an
opening 5, in which said projecting element is inserted at the moment of assembly. - The coupling and
centring keys 3 have a stem equipped with two radially projecting and diametrally oppositetabs 8, which, once inserted and rotated through 90° in purposely providedtransverse slots 9, pre-arranged both on the central part of thecentring bar 2 and on the corresponding front part of thegutter bracket 1, enable reciprocal fixing of theengagement bar 2 on thebracket 1. - As is clearly illustrated in the figures, each of
said slots 9 is constituted substantially by a rectangular hole set transversely, at the centre of which there is made a preferably circular enlargement: the central part of the slots is designed to receive with slight clearance the stem of thekeys 3, whilst the two rectangular parts are designed to receive theprojecting tabs 8 of the stem itself. - From the foregoing, it is evident that, once the
keys 3 have been inserted in theholes 9 after coupling thegutter bracket 1 and theengagement bar 2, it is sufficient to rotate them to prevent them from coming out of thesame holes 9, so as to block thegutter bracket 1 and theengagement bar 2 together and consequently fix the gutter G to the roof. - According to the invention, it is appropriate for said
keys 3 to be rotated through 90° after their insertion in theholes 9 so as to move the twotabs 8 as far as possible from the position of insertion into/removal from the holes. - In the example of embodiment described herein, provided at the sides of each of the
holes 9 of thegutter bracket 1 is a pair of opposedinclined planes 11, designed to define a seat for slotting and partially restraining at least one of two further radial and diametrallyopposite flanges 10 that constitute the grip of the key. The tops of saidinclined planes 11 face one another at a distance substantially corresponding to the thickness of thefurther flanges 10 of thekey 3, so that one of said flanges can be inserted between them, undergoing a limitation of its own displacements so as to prevent any undesirable rotation of the key itself. - In
Figures 1 and5 , the key closest to the front edge of the gutter is rotated in the position of blocking between saidinclined planes 11, whilst the other key is in its position of insertion into/removal from theholes 9. - A third peculiar characteristic of the invention consists in the fact that the top surface of the
engagement bar 2 is equipped with two male longitudinal stiffening andcentring ribbings 6, to which there correspond similar female longitudinal stiffening and centring ribbings purposely pre-arranged on the bottom surface of the front part of thegutter bracket 1 that is coupled to theengagement bar 2 described herein. - In this connection, it is worthwhile noting that said
male ribbings 6 andfemale ribbings 7 can be exchanged with one another without any functional modification. It should just be mentioned that the configuration illustrated prevents any stagnation of rain water that would occur if saidlongitudinal ribbings - Advantageously, said
longitudinal ribbings engagement bar 2 and the area of thegutter bracket 1 designed to couple to said bar. - With reference to
Figure 6 , it should be noted that the invention is applicable without any modification to any type of gutter, whatever its shape in cross section. The only requirement is that the gutter should have top edges shaped in such a way as to enable the coupling with theengagement bar 2. - Finally,
Figures 7 to 10 regard a second embodiment, suitable for fixing gutters to the wall of the building instead of to the line of eaves. - In this case, in fact, the
gutter bracket 1 previously described has the rear part that is set vertically, instead of inclined like the pitch of the roof. The modalities of use and the advantages remain the same already described for the previous case. - The present invention has been described and illustrated in some of its preferred embodiments, but it is clear that any person skilled in the branch may make technically and functionally equivalent modifications and/or substitutions within the scope defined by the appended claims without thereby departing from the sphere of protection of the present industrial patent right.
