    - providing a first handle portion (7, 9),
    - fitting the transponder (6), preferably to the first handle portion (7, 9), spaced-apart from the tang (4) and
    - finishing the knife (1) by completing the handle (5) by fitting at least a second handle portion (8, 11), the transponder (6) being surrounded by the handle portions (7, 9, 8, 11),
    the handle (5) being finished by the first handle portion (7) with the transponder (6) and the tang (4) fitted thereto being moulded in or around.
  2. Method according to claim 1,
    characterised in that
    the first handle portion is provided as a loose injection-moulding component, the transponder (6) being fitted in the injection-moulding component and the loose injection-moulding component being secured to the tang (4), preferably by the injection-moulding component being clamped.
  3. Method according to claim 1,
    characterised in that
    a spacer element (7) is provided as the first handle portion, the spacer element (7) being secured to the end of the tang (4) remote from the knife blade and the transponder (6) being secured to the tang (4) via the spacer element (7).
  4. Method according to claim 1,
    characterised in that
    a handle core is moulded on the tang and the transponder (6) is introduced into the handle core in order to provide the first handle portion, and the handle core being moulded around in order to complete the handle.
  5.
