Dieser Volumenraum dient der Kabelwegführung, das heißt der Wegführung der elektrischen Anschlußleitungen, mit denen die vom Kontaktträgereinsatz aufgenommenen elektrischen Kontakte elektrisch verbunden sind. Dabei erfolgt die Wegführung der Anschlußleitungen in vorteilhafter Weise rückwärtig des Kontaktträgereinsatzes, was eine vereinfachte Handhabung und damit eine vereinfachte Montage bzw. Dabei ist eine indirekte Abstützung des Kontaktträgereinsatzes deshalb bevorzugt, weil es hierdurch möglich wird, einen Volumenraum innerhalb des Steckdosengehäuses zu schaffen, der einer variablen und flexiblen Verlegung von Anschlußleitungen dient. Bei einer direkten Abstützung des Kontaktträgereinsatzes auf einer Montageplatte wäre die Ausgestaltung eines solchen Volumenraumes nicht möglich. Dabei eröffnet der Volumenraum im besonderen die Möglichkeit, in jedem Fall eine rückwärtige Wegführung der Anschlußleitungen aus dem Kontaktträgereinsatz vorzusehen, ganz gleich, ob die Anschlußleitungen das Steckdosengehäuse nun über eine seitliche oder eine rückwärtige Aussparung verlassen.
