Abstract

The invention relates to a drain assembly (10) to be placed in a basin (1) to be used in particular in residential places, such as a kitchen sink, sink, washbasin, shower tray, bath, bidet and the like, including a waste (2) for connecting a waste pipe thereto, wherein the drain assembly at an outside thereof has been provided with sealing means (15) for substantially sealed connection to the waste, wherein the drain assembly at its inside defines a flow passage extending between an entrance that is open towards the basin and an exit that is open towards the waste pipe, and wherein the flow passage when in use forms at least a part of a water seal.

Description

Drain assembly
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The invention relates to a drain assembly to be placed in a basin having a waste for connecting a waste pipe thereto. Examples of such a basin comprise several water collection trays, such as a kitchen sink, a sink, washbasin, bidet or the like. The invention furthermore relates to a basin provided with a drain assembly.
In order to prevent sewer gasses from escaping via the waste of a basin, a stench-trap or siphon has been placed in the waste pipe, which stench-trap or siphon, when operative, form a water seal for a gastight sealing of the waste pipe. Examples of such known stench-traps comprise a pipe stench-trap (having the shape of a U-shaped pipe or a
U-trap) and a bottle trap. Said stench-traps usually are mounted below the basin between the waste of the basin and the further waste pipe.
A drawback of the known stench-traps is that they are difficult to clean. When operative said stench-traps are namely filled with liquid. When demounting the stench-trap below the basin, said liquid may escape and possibly end up on the floor below the basin. When the basin has been built in into a piece of furniture, such as a kitchen work top, bar, bathroom furniture, the accessibility of the stench-trap may be more difficult and the liquid escaping from the stench-trap may lead to soiling the inside of the piece of furniture and the things that have been stowed in the piece of furniture.
It is an object of the invention to improve on this. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
According to a first aspect the invention provides a drain assembly to be placed in a basin to be used in particular in residential places, such as a kitchen sink, sink, washbasin, bidet and the like, including a waste for connecting a waste pipe thereto, wherein the drain assembly at an outside thereof has been provided with sealing means for substantially sealed connection to the waste, wherein the drain assembly at its inside defines a flow passage extending between an entrance that is open towards the basin and an exit that is open towards the waste pipe, and wherein the flow passage when in use forms at least a part of a water seal.
In one embodiment the drain assembly is at least partially detachable and can be placed in the waste via the basin. In one embodiment the drain assembly is fully detachable and can be placed in the waste via the basin. In that way the drain assembly can be fully or partially detached from the basin and is easily replaced by a new and/or cleaned one to prevent the drain assembly from possibly clogging up or quickly ending a clogging of the waste.
In one embodiment the drain assembly comprises a number of concentrically placed walls that are substantially cylindrical for forming a first flow passage in between them, as well as a second flow passage, and a turning point connecting the first and second flow passage, wherein, when in use, the flow direction through the first flow passage is oriented substantially opposite the flow direction through the second flow passage. By using substantially cylindrical walls the drain assembly is easy to manufacture from circular pipes of different diameters. Moreover most wastes in basins are circular and a drain assembly having at least a cylindrical outer wall can easily be placed in said circular wastes.
In one embodiment one or more of the substantially cylindrical walls are detachably connected to the drain assembly. In that way the flow passage between walls is accessible for cleaning. A possible deposit on the walls can also be removed, as a result of which a quick clogging up after cleaning and replacement in the waste is reduced.
In one embodiment the drain assembly comprises movable closing means that are movable in an open position for discharging liquid from the basin and a closed position for substantially closing off the flow passage.
In a first embodiment that can be closed off the closing means have been placed at a downstream side of the water seal. In one embodiment the flow passage of the drain assembly has been provided with an overflow exit for supplying liquid from the water seal to an overflow pipe. In one embodiment the overflow exit when in use is closed off by the water seal.
In a second embodiment that can be closed off, the closing means have been placed at an upstream side of the water seal. In one embodiment the flow passage of the drain assembly has been provided with an overflow inlet for supplying liquid from an overflow pipe to the water seal. In one embodiment the overflow inlet when in use is closed off by the water seal.
According to a second aspect the invention provides a basin to be used in particular in residential spaces, such as a kitchen sink, sink, washbasin, bidet and the like, having a bottom wall comprising a waste for connecting a waste pipe thereto, wherein the basin comprises a drain assembly including water seal placed in the waste.
In one embodiment the bottom directly connects to the water seal that leads to the waste pipe.
In one embodiment the drain assembly at an outside thereof has been provided with sealing means for substantially sealed connection to the waste, wherein the drain assembly at its inside defines a flow passage extending between an entrance that is open towards the basin and an exit that is open towards the waste pipe, and wherein the flow passage when in use forms at least a part of a water seal.
According to a third aspect the invention provides an overflow device to be placed in a basin to be used in particular in residential spaces, such as a kitchen sink, sink, washbasin, bidet and the like, having a bottom wall comprising a waste for connecting a waste pipe thereto, wherein the overflow device comprises a standpipe which with a first side thereof defines the water level in the basin and which at a second side thereof has been provided with a drain assembly including a water seal, wherein the drain assembly can be placed in the waste.
In one embodiment the drain assembly at an outside thereof has been provided with sealing means for substantially sealed connection to the waste, wherein the overflow device at its inside defines a flow passage extending between an entrance at the first side of the standpipe and an exit in the drain assembly that is open towards the waste pipe, and wherein the flow passage when in use forms at least a part of a water seal.
In one embodiment the overflow device comprises a drain assembly as described above.
The aspects and measures described in the description and claims of this application and/or shown in the drawings of this application may where possible also be used individually. Said individual aspects, such as a drain assembly having a movable lid, a drain assembly having a trap placed therein for the flow passage, a drain assembly having a connection for an overflow device, an overflow device having a stench- trap, and other aspects, may be the subject of divisional patent applications relating thereto. This particularly applies to the measures and aspects that have been described per se in the sub claims.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Figure 1 A shows a view in cross-section of a basin 1 that has been provided with a waste 2. Below the waste 2 in the basin 1 , the walls 3 of the basin 1 extend downward in order to form a cylindrical space 4. In this example said walls 3 at an end facing away from the basin 1 have been provided with a thread 31 . A waste pipe 5 can be connected thereto by means of a connecting sleeve 51 having a corresponding thread.
A first exemplary embodiment of a drain system 10 according to the invention has been placed in the basin 1 . In said first embodiment the drain system 10 comprises two coaxially placed cylindrical side walls 1 1 , 12 that have been spaced apart for forming a flow passage 13 in between them. The side walls 1 1 , 12 are connected one to the other by means of a bottom wall 14 filling up the space between the side walls.
At its side facing the bottom wall, the outer side wall 12 at its circumference has been provided with sealing means 15 that shape fittingly connect to the inside of the walls 3, at least at a side thereof facing away from the basin 1 . Furthermore the outer side wall 12, above the bottom wall 14 has been provided with through-openings 16 for supplying the liquid from the basin 1 to the flow passage 13. A through-opening 18 has been placed in the bottom wall 14, which through-opening connects to the inside of the inner side wall 1 1.
The drain system 10 has furthermore been provided with a cover wall 17, which fully closes off the side of the side wall 12 that faces away from the bottom wall 14. The end of the inner side wall 1 1 that faces away from the bottom wall 14 is spaced apart from the cover wall 17 for forming a passage of the flow passage 13 to the inside of the inner side wall 1 1 . When operative the space between the inside of the cylindrical wall 3 and the outside of the side wall 12 of the drain system 10, the through-openings 16 in the side wall 12 and the flow passage 13 form a substantially U-shaped passage placed around the inner side wall 1 1 for when operative forming the water seal. The position of this end of the inner side wall 1 1 defines the position of the water level 6 in the water seal. Furthermore the cover wall 17 is spaced apart from the bottom wall 7 of the basin 1 . Between the cover wall 17 and the bottom wall 7 an opening 19 has thus been formed through which liquid can flow from the basin 1 via the waste 2 to the drain system 10.
The drain system 10 can be taken out of the waste 2 in its entirety, wherein the liquid from the water seal ends up in the basin 1 or its cylindrical space 4 and can be discharged via the waste pipe 5. For detaching the drain system 10 it will not be necessary to uncouple the waste pipe 5.
Figure 1 B shows a view in cross-section of the same basin 1 as in figure 1 A. A second exemplary embodiment of a drain system 20 according to the invention has been placed in said basin 1. In said second embodiment the drain system 20 comprises two coaxially placed cylindrical side walls 21 , 22 that have been spaced apart for forming a flow passage 23 in between them.
The inner side wall 21 has been integrally formed with a bottom wall 24, which at a side facing away from the side wall 21 has been provided with sealing means 241 , such as for instance a rubber sealing. The bottom wall 24 extends radially with respect to the side wall 21 for forming a connecting flange that can be placed against the waste pipe 5 and the end of the walls 3 facing away from the basin 1 , as shown in figure 1 B. When connecting the waste pipe 5 by means of the connecting sleeve 51 , at the circumference of the bottom wall 24, the connecting flange with the sealing means 241 is clamped in between the waste pipe 5 and the end of the walls 3 facing away from the basin 1 . In the bottom wall 24 a through-opening 28 has been placed that connects to the inside of the inner side wall 21 . The outer side wall 22 at its side facing the bottom wall 24, at its inner circumference has been provided with edge 221 which substantially connects to the outside of the inner side wall 21 . At its inside the edge 221 has furthermore been provided with first connecting means 222 and the outside of the inner side wall 21 has been provided with second connecting means cooperating with the first connecting means
222, which second connecting means in this exemplary embodiment form a snap connection for detachably placing the outer side wall 22 at the inner side wall 21 .
Furthermore the outer side wall 22, above the edge 221 has been provided with through-openings 26 for supplying the liquid from the basin 1 to the flow passage 23. The outer side wall 22 of the drain system 20 has furthermore been provided with a cover wall 27, which fully closes off the side of the side wall 22 that faces away from the edge 221 . If the outer side wall 22 has been placed on the inner side wall 21 , the end of the inner side wall 21 facing away from the bottom wall 24 is spaced apart from the cover wall 27 for forming a passage from the flow passage 23 to the inside of the inner side wall 21 . When operative the space between the inside of the cylindrical wall 3 and the outside of the side wall 22 of the drain system 20, the through- openings 26 in the side wall 22 and the flow passage 23 form a substantially U-shaped passage placed around the inner side wall 21 for when operative forming the water seal. The position of said end of the inner side wall 21 defines the position of the water level 6 in the water seal. Furthermore the cover wall 27 has been spaced apart from the bottom wall 7 of the basin 1 . Between the cover wall 27 and the bottom wall 7 an opening 29 has thus been formed through which liquid from the basin 1 can flow via the waste 2 to the drain system 20.
For cleaning the drain system 20 the outer side wall 22 with the cover wall 27 can be taken out of the basin 1 . For cleaning the drain system 20 it will not be necessary to uncouple the waste pipe 5.
Figure 1 C shows a view in cross-section of the same basin 1 as in figure 1 A. A third exemplary embodiment of a drain system 30 according to the invention has been placed in said basin 1 . Just like the second embodiment said third embodiment comprises two concentrically placed parts that are detachably connected to each other.
The first part comprises a cylindrical bottle having a bottom wall 38 and a cylindrical side wall 32. At a side facing away from the bottom wall 38, the cylindrical wall 32 has been provided with a circumferential flange 321 for connecting to the bottom wall 7 of the basin 1 . Preferably near the waste 2, the bottom wall 7 has been provided with a recess for accommodating the circumferential flange 321 (not shown) therein. Furthermore a number (in this case two) circumferential sealing means, such as a rubber sealing, have been placed at the outside of the cylindrical wall 32, which sealing means when operative abut the inside of the walls 3 for sealing the waste 2.
Furthermore the bottle at its inside has been provided with a cylindrical tube 33 placed coaxial to the side wall 32. The tube is connected to the bottom wall 31 , wherein between the tube 33 and the side wall 32 a reservoir has been formed for when in use retaining liquid for forming a water seal. In the bottom wall 38 a through-opening 331 has been placed that connects to the inside of the tube 33.
A second part of the drain system 30 comprises a cover wall 34 and a cylindrical wall 35 placed substantially perpendicular to the cover wall
34. The wall 35, when operative, has been placed in the bottle. The diameter of the wall 35 is smaller than the diameter of the side wall 32 and exceeds the diameter of the tube 33, so that between the wall 35 and the side wall 32 a first flow passage 36, and between wall 35 and the tube 33 a second flow passage 37 are formed.
At an end facing away from the cover wall 34, the cylindrical wall 35 has been provided with a connecting edge 351 that connects to a circumferential edge 31 1 in the bottom wall 38. The circumferential edge 31 1 ensures an adequate placement of the second part with respect to the first part. In a further development the edge 31 1 may have been provided with first connecting means (not shown) and the connecting edge 351 may be provided with second connecting means (not shown) cooperating with the first connecting means, forming a snap connection for detachably placing the second part in the first part.
Furthermore the wall 35, above the connecting edge 351 has been provided with through-openings 352 for passing the liquid through from the first flow passage 36 to the second flow passage 37. When operative the first flow passage 36, the through-openings 352 in the wall 35 and the second flow passage 37 form a substantially U-shaped passage placed around the tube 33 for when operative forming the water seal.
For cleaning the drain system 30 the second part can be taken out of the basin 1 . For cleaning the drain system 30 it will not be necessary to uncouple the waste pipe 5.
The exemplary embodiments as shown in the figures 1 A, 1 B and 1 C cannot be closed off, as opposed to the fourth exemplary embodiment shown in figure 2.
Figures 2A and 2B show a view in cross-section of the same basin 1 as in figure 1 . A fourth exemplary embodiment of a drain system 40 according to the invention has been placed in this basin 1 . Said fourth embodiment comprises two concentrically placed parts that are moveable with respect to each other to a closed position, as shown in figure 2A, and an open position as shown in figure 2B.
The first part comprises a bottom wall 41 and a tube 42 extending from the bottom wall 41 in the direction of the basin 1 . The bottom wall 41 has been provided with a through-opening 41 1 that connects to the inside of the tube 42 for forming an outlet opening of the drain system 40.
At its circumference the bottom wall 41 has been provided with sealing means, in this case including thread 412, that shape fittingly connect to the inside of the walls 3, at least at a side thereof that faces away from the basin 1 . A second part of the drain system 40 comprises a cover wall 43 and a cylindrical wall 44, which has been placed substantially perpendicular to the cover wall 43. The wall 44 extends in the direction of the bottom wall 41 . The diameter of the wall 44 is smaller than the diameter of the inside of the side wall 3 and exceeds the diameter of the tube 42, so that in between the wall 44 and the side wall 3 a first flow passage 46 and between the wall 44 and the tube 42 a second flow passage 47 are formed.
The cover wall 43 has furthermore been provided with a closing device 45, which in the closed position of the drain system 40 closes off the end of the tube 42 that faces away from the bottom wall 41 . The closing device 45 has for instance been formed like a rubber closing plug.
The cover wall 43 has furthermore been provided with an operation rod 48 extending through the tube 42 and supporting on a waste device 52. By operating the waste handle B downward in the closed position, the second part of the drain system 40 will move upward A to the open position and vice versa.
Figure 3A shows a view in cross-section of the same basin 1 as in figure 1 . At an end of the walls 3 facing away from the waste 2, a first connecting means 31 1 has been placed. Said first connecting means 31 1 has been placed centrally between the walls 3 by means of a number of lamellas 312. In one embodiment the connecting means 31 1 at its inside has been provided with a recess for accommodating a second connecting means therein for forming a snap connection.
In said basin 1 a fifth exemplary embodiment of a drain system 50 according to the invention is shown in disassembled condition. Said fifth embodiment comprises two concentrically placed parts 501 , 502, which are movable with respect to each other to a closed position and an open position.
The first part 501 comprises a bottom wall 52 and a cylindrical side wall 53 extending from the bottom wall 52 in the direction of the basin 1 . The bottom wall 52 has been provided with a through-opening 521 that connects to the inside of the side wall 53 for forming an outlet opening of the drain system 50. At its circumference the bottom wall 52 has been provided with sealing means 522, such as a rubber sealing ring, that sealingly abut the inside of the wall 3. A bottom view of the bottom wall 52 is shown in figure 3B.
At least at the side extending away from the side wall 53, the bottom wall 52 has been provided with a cylindrical connecting pin 54 that has been placed coaxial to the side wall 53. The connecting pin 54 has been provided with second connecting means 541 for detachably attaching the first part 501 to the connecting means 31 1 .
In the extension of the connecting pin 54 a connecting tube 55 has been placed at the side of the side wall 53. The connecting tube has been placed substantially coaxial to the side wall 53 and extends in the direction of the second part 502. At its inside the connecting tube 55 has been provided with two third connecting means 551 , in the form of recesses for accommodating a fourth connecting means therein for forming a snap connection in two positions, an open and a closed position.
The second part 502 of the drain system 50 comprises a cover wall 56 and a cylindrical wall 57 that has been placed substantially perpendicular to the cover wall 56. The wall 57 extends in the direction of the bottom wall 52. The diameter of the wall 57 is smaller than the diameter of the inside of the side wall 3 and exceeds the outside of the first part 501 , so that between the wall 57 and the side wall 3 a first flow passage, and between the wall 57 and the wall 53 a second flow passage can be formed.
The cover wall 56 has furthermore been provided with a closing device 58, which in the closed position of the drain system 50 closes off the end of the wall 53 that faces away from the bottom wall 52. The closing device 58 has for instance been formed like a rubber closing plug.
The cover wall 56, at least at the side facing the first part 501 , has been provided with a cylindrical connecting pin 59 placed coaxial to the side wall 57. The connecting pin 59 has been provided with fourth connecting means 591 for detachably attaching the second part 502 to the first part 501 in an open or a closed position of the drain system 50.
Figure 4A shows a view in cross-section of the same basin 1 as in figure 1 . A sixth exemplary embodiment of a drain system 60 according to the invention has been placed in said basin 1 . Said sixth embodiment is an overflow device comprising a standpipe 61 functioning as an overflow of the basin 1 . Such an embodiment is particularly suitable as overflow in a sink of a bar.
The standpipe 61 extends through a cover wall 62 of the drain system 60 to the inside of the drain system 60. The cover wall 62 is connected to the circumference of the standpipe 61 . The cover wall 62 further comprises an outer side wall 63, which at its circumference has been provided with sealing means 631 , such as a rubber sealing ring. The drain system 60 has been placed between the walls 3 of the waste of the basin 1 , wherein the sealing means 631 sealingly abut the walls 3.
The outer side wall 63 at the side facing away from the cover wall 62, has been provided with a bottom wall 64. The bottom wall 64 comprises a further side wall 65 that at least encloses a portion of the standpipe 61 that is situated within the drain system 60, and which extends in the direction of the cover wall 62. Thus the drain system 60 comprises a first flow passage 66 between the standpipe 61 and the further side wall 65 and a second flow passage 67 between the further side wall 65 and the outer side wall 63.
The end of the standpipe 61 that faces the bottom wall 64 has been spaced apart from the bottom wall 64 for forming a passage from the inside of the standpipe 61 to the first flow passage 66. The end of the further side wall 65 that faces the cover wall 62 has been spaced apart from the cover wall 62 for forming a passage from the first 66 to the second flow passage 67. The bottom wall has furthermore been provided with through-openings 641 that connect to the second flow passage 67 for forming an outlet opening of the drain system 60. When operative the inside of the standpipe 61 and the first flow passage 66, form a substantially U-shaped passage for forming the water seal, as shown in figure 4A.
In figure 4B a further embodiment of the drain system 70 of figure 4A is shown in disassembled condition. Because said overflow device 70 can be disassembled all elements are easy to clean.
Said seventh embodiment comprises a standpipe 71 that functions as overflow for a basin, particularly for a sink in the catering business. The standpipe 71 is placed in an annulus 72 having a rubber sealing 73. The standpipe 71 is slidable within the sealing 73 for adjusting the height of the standpipe 71 and thus the overflow level in the sink.
The annulus 72 is placed on an end of a cylindrical inner wall 74 and by means of a screw connection and a connecting sleeve 76 engaging over the annulus 72, is connected to the cylindrical inner wall 74.
The cylindrical inner wall 74, at its side facing away from the thread 75, has been provided with a bottom wall 77 closing off the inner wall 74. Furthermore, near the thread 75, the inner wall 74 has been provided with connection means, such as an external thread 78 for connection to a cylindrical outer wall 79.
The cylindrical inner wall 74, near the connection means, has been provided with through-openings 741 which when operative function as overflow of the water seal.
The cylindrical outer wall 79, at a first end, has been provided with an internal thread 791 for connecting the cylindrical inner wall 74 thereto, and at a second end has been provided with sealing means 792, such as a rubber sealing ring, with which the drain system 70 can be placed in the waste of the sink.
In assembled condition the drain system 70 functions the same as the drain system 60 in figure 4A. Figure 5 shows a view in cross-section of the same basin 1 as in figure 1 . An eighth exemplary embodiment of a drain system 80 according to the invention has been placed in said basin 1 . The basin 1 has been provided with an overflow 100 that has been connected to a passage 101 placed in the cylindrical wall 3. The eighth embodiment 80 comprises two concentrically placed parts that are movable with respect to each other to a closed position and an open position, as shown in figure 5.
A first part comprises a cylindrical bottle having a bottom wall 88 and a cylindrical side wall 82. At a side facing away from the bottom wall 88 the cylindrical wall 82 has been provided with a circumferential flange 821 for connection to the bottom wall 7 of the basin 1 . Preferably the bottom wall 7, near the waste 2, has been provided with a recess for accommodating the circumferential flange 821 (not shown) therein. Furthermore at the outside of the cylindrical wall 82 a number of circumferential sealing means, such as a rubber sealing, have been placed, which when operative, abut the inside of the walls 3 for sealing the waste, in accordance with the embodiment as shown in figure 1 C.
At its inside the bottle has furthermore been provided with a cylindrical tube 83 placed coaxial to the side wall 82. The tube 83 has been connected to the bottom wall 88, wherein between the tube 83 and the side wall 82 a reservoir is formed for when in use retaining liquid for forming a water seal. In the bottom wall 88 a through-opening 831 has been placed that connects to the inside of the tube 83.
In the side wall 82 through-openings 822 have furthermore been placed for connection to the overflow 101 . In a further development the side wall 82, at least a part at the level of the connection of the overflow 101 , may have been spaced apart from the cylindrical wall 3, so that a substantially annular space is created for via said space passing the liquid through from the overflow to the through-openings 822. In this development the orientation of the through-openings 822 with respect to the connection of the overflow 101 is not critical.
Via the through-openings 822 the liquid can be passed from the overflow 101 to the reservoir between the tube 83 and the side wall 82. When in use the liquid level in the overflow 101 and the liquid level in the reservoir will be the same.
A second part of the drain system 80 comprises a cover wall 84 and a cylindrical wall 85 that has been placed substantially perpendicular to the cover wall 84. The wall 85, when operative, has been placed in the bottle. The diameter of the wall 85 is smaller than the diameter of the side wall 82 and exceeds the diameter of the tube 83, so that between the wall 85 and the side wall 82 a first flow passage 86, and between the wall 85 and the tube 83 a second flow passage 87 are formed.
Furthermore the cover wall 84 has been provided with a closing device
841 which in the closed position of the drain system 80 connects to the circumferential flange 821 . The closing device 841 has for instance been formed like a rubber sealing ring.
The cover wall 84 has furthermore been provided with an operation rod
842 extending through the tube 83 and supporting on a waste device 52. By operating the waste handle B downward in the closed position, the second part of the drain system 80 will move upward A to the open position, as shown in figure 5, and vice versa.
Figure 6A shows a view in cross-section of the same basin 1 as in figure 5. A ninth exemplary embodiment of a drain system 90 according to the invention has been placed in said basin 1 . The basin 1 has been provided with an overflow 100 which is connected to a passage 101 placed in the cylindrical wall 3, and comprises a circumferential pipe which via a turning point 102, is passed back to a passage 103 placed in the waste pipe 5. The turning point 102 defines the overflow level 200 in the basin 1 .
The ninth embodiment 90 comprises two concentrically placed parts that are moveable with respect to each other to a closed position, as shown in figure 6B, and an open position, as shown in figure 6A.
The first part comprises a cylindrical bottle having a bottom wall 98 and a cylindrical side wall 92. At a side facing away from the bottom wall 98 the cylindrical wall 92 has been provided with a circumferential flange 921 for connection to the bottom wall 7 of the basin 1 . Furthermore at the outside of the cylindrical wall 82 a number of circumferential sealing means, such as a rubber sealing, have been placed which when operative abut the inside of the walls 3 for sealing the waste in accordance with the embodiment as shown in figure 1 C.
Furthermore, at its inside, the bottle has been provided with a cylindrical tube 93 placed coaxial to the side wall 92. The tube 93 has been connected to the bottom wall 98, wherein between the tube 93 and the side wall 92 a reservoir is formed for when in use retaining liquid for forming a water seal. In the bottom wall 98 a through-opening 931 has been placed that connects to the inside of the tube 93.
In the side wall 92 through-openings 922 have furthermore been placed for connection to the overflow 101 . In a further development the side wall 92, at least the part at the level of the connection of the overflow
101 , may have been spaced apart from the cylindrical wall 3, so that a substantially annular space is created for via said space passing liquid through from the overflow to the through-openings 922. In said development the orientation of the through-openings 922 with respect to the connection of the overflow 101 is not critical.
Via the through-openings 922 liquid can be passed from the reservoir between the tube 93 and the side wall 92 to the overflow 101 . When in use the liquid level in the overflow 101 and the liquid level in the reservoir will be the same.
A second part of the drain system 90 comprises a cover wall 94 and a cylindrical wall 95, which has been placed substantially perpendicular to the cover wall 94. The wall 95, when operative, has been placed in the bottle. The diameter of the wall 95 is smaller than the diameter of the side wall 92 and exceeds the diameter of the tube 93, so that between the wall 95 and the side wall 92 a first flow passage 96, and between the wall 95 and the tube.93 a second flow passage 97 are formed.
The cover wall 94 has furthermore been provided with a closing device 941 , which in the closed position of the drain assembly 90 closes off the end of the tube 93 that faces away from the bottom wall 98. The closing device 941 has for instance been formed like a rubber closing plug.
The cover wall 94 has furthermore been provided with an operation rod 942 extending through the tube 93 and supporting on a waste device 52. By operating the waste handle B upward in the open position, as shown in figure 6A, the second part of the drain system 90 will move downward A to the closed position as shown in figure 6B, and vice versa.
In the closed position as shown in figure 6B the cover wall 84 supports on the circumferential flange 921 . The cover wall 84 has been provided with through-openings 943, which also in the closed position, allow liquid from the basin 1 through to the first flow passage 96, and via said first flow passage 96 and the through-openings 922 allow it through to the overflow 100.
Figure 7 shows a view in cross-section of a variety of the ninth exemplary embodiment of a drain system 90 according to the invention as described above.
In this variety, at an end of the walls 3 that faces away from the waste 2, a first connecting means 31 1 has been placed. Said first connecting means 31 1 has been placed centrally between the walls 3 by means of a number of lamellas 312. In one embodiment the connecting means 31 1 at its inside has been provided with a recess for accommodating a second connecting means therein for forming a snap connection.
For that purpose the cover wall 94 has been provided with a operation rod 942 extending through the tube 93 and which has been provided with two spaced apart second connecting means 945 for placing the cover wall 94 in the open and closed position, respectively. For manual operation of the cover wall 94 it has been provided with a handle 944 that can be operated from the basin 1 . By means of said handle 944 the second part of the drain system 90 can be removed from the basin 1 . Said variety has furthermore been provided with a resilient cover wall which due to its resilience is pressed substantially against the circumferential flange 921 , preferably both in the open and in the closed position of the drain system 90.

Claims

Claims
1 . Drain assembly to be placed in a basin to be used in particular in residential places, such as a kitchen sink, sink, washbasin, bidet and the like, including a waste for connecting a waste pipe thereto, wherein the drain assembly at an outside thereof has been provided with sealing means for substantially sealed connection to the waste, wherein the drain assembly at its inside defines a flow passage extending between an entrance that is open towards the basin and an exit that is open towards the waste pipe, and wherein the flow passage when in use forms at least a part of a water seal.
2. Drain assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the drain assembly is at least partially detachable and can be placed in the waste via the basin.
3. Drain assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the drain assembly is fully detachable and can be placed in the waste via the basin.
4. Drain assembly according to claim 1 , 2 or 3, wherein the drain assembly comprises a number of concentrically placed walls that are substantially cylindrical for forming a first flow passage in between them, as well as a second flow passage, and a turning point connecting the first and second flow passage, wherein, when in use, the flow direction through the first flow passage is oriented substantially opposite the flow direction through the second flow passage.
5. Drain assembly according to claim 4, wherein one or more of the substantially cylindrical walls are detachably connected to the drain assembly.
6. Drain assembly according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the drain assembly comprises movable closing means that are movable in an open position for discharging liquid from the basin and a closed position for substantially closing off the flow passage.
7. Drain assembly according to claim 6, wherein the closing means have been placed at a downstream side of the water seal.
8. Drain assembly according to claim 7, wherein the flow passage of the drain assembly has been provided with an overflow exit for supplying liquid from the water seal to an overflow pipe.
9. Drain assembly according to claim 8, wherein the overflow exit when in use is closed off by the water seal.
10. Drain assembly according to claim 6, wherein the closing means have been placed at an upstream side of the water seal.
1 1 . Drain assembly according to claim 10, wherein the flow passage of the drain assembly has been provided with an overflow inlet for supplying liquid from an overflow pipe to the water seal.
12. Drain assembly according to claim 1 1 , wherein the overflow inlet when in use is closed off by the water seal.
13. Basin to be used in particular in residential spaces, such as a kitchen sink, sink, washbasin, bidet and the like, having a bottom wall comprising a waste for connecting a waste pipe thereto, wherein the basin comprises a drain assembly including water seal placed in the waste.
14. Basin according to claim 13, wherein the bottom directly connects to the water seal that leads to the waste pipe.

Basin according to claim 13 or 14, wherein the drain assembly at an outside thereof has been provided with sealing means for substantially sealed connection to the waste, wherein the drain assembly at its inside defines a flow passage extending between an entrance that is open towards the basin and an exit that is open towards the waste pipe, and wherein the flow passage when in use forms at least a part of a water seal.

Overflow device to be placed in a basin to be used in particular in residential spaces, such as a kitchen sink, sink, washbasin, bidet and the like, having a bottom wall comprising a waste for connecting a waste pipe thereto, wherein the overflow device comprises a standpipe which with a first side thereof defines the water level in the basin and which at a second side thereof has been provided with a drain assembly including a water seal, wherein the drain assembly can be placed in the waste.
17. Overflow device according to claim 16, wherein the drain assembly at an outside thereof has been provided with sealing means for substantially sealed connection to the waste, wherein the overflow device at its inside defines a flow passage extending between an entrance at the first side of the standpipe and an exit in the drain assembly that is open towards the waste pipe, and wherein the flow passage when in use forms at least a part of a water seal.
18. Overflow device according to claim 16 or 17, comprising a drain assembly according to one or more of the claims 1 -12.
19. Drain assembly provided with one or more of the characterising measures described in the attached description and/or shown in the attached drawings.
20. Basin provided with one or more of the characterising measures described in the attached description and/or shown in the attached drawings.
21 . Overflow device provided with one or more of the characterising measures described in the attached description and/or shown in the attached drawings.
22. Method comprising one or more of the characterising steps described in the related description and/or shown in the related drawings.
