Abstract

The device is provided with height sensors (1) and incorporates, coinciding with the lid (4.8 ) of the box (4) a cylinder (5) with its extended rod, so that when the sizing and compression systems are lowered, the retraction of the cylinder (5) indicates the contact with the box (4) thus determining the height of the product (6) at this point with the sensors (1) whereas the box (4) incorporates multiple fold lines (4.4) parallel and close together, as well as other fold lines (4.7) which determine the lid (4.8) a variable number of which and not less than two are provided, thus adjusting the closure of the box (1) with the height and arrangement equivalent to those lines (4.4) and (4.7).

Description

    OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention refers to a device for adjusting the height of folding boxes and the boxes to be used with said device, of the type which fold, glue and close the boxes as well as the type comprising boxes obtained from cardboard sheeting.
  • This invention is characterised by a special construction of the device, provided with additional height sensors for the product within the packing machine.
  • It is also characterised by the cardboard sheet which is stamped and marked with parallel folding lines in some of the flaps so that the closure of the box can be adapted to the contents thereof.
  • BACKGROUND TO THE INVENTION
  • In the packing of books, diaries and similar products, even when the number of pages incorporated is identical, as a result of the simple difference in weight between them, problems can arise in closing the boxes properly, as either they are not completely full or they are overfilled, with the same resulting distortion and tearing and breaking when stacking the boxes.
This problem is exacerbated when packing spiral notebooks or when packing different stationery items together. Thus as an example of how it works we could take the case of one of the conventional machines on the market (Wrap-around Didem) which forms boxes at three stations: that of unloading at the foot of the lift, where the cardboard sheeting is united with the product to be packed and laid on top of it; an intermediate stage which determines the appropriateness of the stacking and the adequate placing on the cardboard; that of the consecutive sizing or gluing, in an initial phase, of the transversal elements of the box and in the next stage the lateral flaps; finally, in the compression station the flaps are adhered to the body of the box.
  • The contact margins of the product with the box, in the process of shaping said box cannot absorb beyond 200 mmm depth in terms of height using a system of two or more stamping or perforation processes which adjust the box to the height of the product inside. When this depth of contact is exceeded problems arise with distortion and subsequent breaking of the boxes.
  • The applicant is unaware of the existence of other means which resolve the aforementioned problem of an inadequate contact of the boxes with the product, with the simplicity and efficacy of the invention described herein, based on a simple device and the box to be used with it.
  • DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention refers to a device for adjusting the height of folding boxes and the boxes to be used in this process, of the type used for the mechanical reception, transport of individual cardboard sheets, the placing thereon of the stacked product, and the subsequent folding of the sheet, its sizing and, finally, closure of the boxes as well as of the type of box obtained from stamped and perforated cardboard sheeting.
  • This invention is characterised by the special construction of the height controlling device which is provided with sensors at the same height, and which incorporates in the third packing station of a conventional machine, and coinciding with the lid of the box, a cylinder with an extended rod, so that when the sizing and compression systems are lowered it is the retraction of the cylinder which acts as a gauge, indicating that contact has been made with the box.
  • In this way the height at that point is determined by the sensors with the positions of transversal sizing or gluing and the compression automatically adjusted by the device effected in the fourth and final station without any problems arising from dimensional differences.
  • The invention is also characterised by the complementary use of a stamped cardboard sheet which forms a prismatic rectangular box provided with a narrow and elongated closing flap of the larger faces which incorporates multiple perforations which enable the different closure heights required for this slight height adjustment in the compression of the flaps, complementing these multiple lines with other similar lines for folding which are parallel and arranged at the opposite end of the lid, based on cutting the length of the lateral flaps closest thereto, so that by combining them all it is possible to adjust the closure of the box in accordance with the specific content thereof and this can vary between different boxes.
  • DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • The present descriptive report is complemented with a set of plans which are illustrative of a preferred embodiment but which are in no way restrictive of the invention.
  • Figure 1 is a sequence of the feed supply for forming the box.
  • Figure 2 shows the stamped cardboard and perforated sheet incorporating the special perforated finish thereof.
  • Figure 3 shows a partial view of two boxes closed at different heights when exiting the final bifurcation of the machine.
  • PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION
  • In the light of the foregoing, the present invention refers to a device for adjusting the height of folding of boxes and the boxes to be used in said process, of the type of those which use different means of making contact between the stacked units by means of □individual cardboard sheets as well as the type of boxes obtained with stamped and perforated cardboard sheets, essentially characterised in that the device for controlling the height of the stacked product (6) is provided with height sensors (1) and which is incorporated in the third packing station (3) of a packing machine and, coinciding with the lid (4.8) of the box(4) a cylinder (5) which acts as a gauge, which indicates when contact is made with the box (4) and which determines the height of the product (6) at that point with the sensors (1).
  • This invention is assisted by a special cardboard sheet construction (4.0) of the box (4) which is provided with a narrow and elongated flap (4.1) for closing the opposing larger faces (4.2) and (4.3) incorporating multiple fold lines (4.4) which are parallel and close together with extensive cut-out ends (4.5) between this flap (4.1) and the closing flaps (4.6) of the larger face (4.2) immediately closest, in addition to being provided with other fold lines (4.7) which determine the lid (4.8) also arranged in a parallel manner in the same way as the fold lines (4.4) and close together in a variable number and not less than two, adjusting the closure of the box (1) to the height and arrangement equivalent to each other.
  • Example 1. Packing of DIN A4 size spiral notebooks (figure 1): From the retractile tunnels notebooks (320 × 235 mm) emerge in packets (6.1) of 2 to 10 units, (7) their narrow frontal part advancing along the conveyer belt, turning the packets (6.1) 90° (8) of a number of even numbered notebooks to the same side and odd numbered ones to the alternate side in order to subsequently pass from the dosing conveyor (9) to the scales (10).
  • Having grouped the packets (6.1) in the aforementioned stacked pile (6) using fork lifts this stack is placed on the cardboard sheet (4.0) proceeding to the pushing, folding, sizing or gluing and adherence referred to above.
  • The essential nature of this invention is not altered by variations in materials, form, size and arrangement of the component elements which are described in a manner which is in no way restrictive, and which is sufficient to proceed to its reproduction by an expert.
