Definitions
- the invention concerns extinguishing chamber for electrical apparatuses, particularly for circuit breakers and other switching apparatuses.
- a voltaic arc In electrical apparatuses, while switching off the short-circuit current, an intense development of a voltaic arc occurs, this being ionized gas - plasma, containing positive and negative ions.
- the voltaic arc is characterized by great current density, high temperature and an extensive amount of radiation in broad spectrum.
- the voltaic arc intensely disrupts the material of the contacts, with the material being smelted and sprayed.
- the contacts may suffer destruction, ruptures etc., due to the fact, that an extensive temperature gradient develops on them at the same time.
- the voltaic arc In order to minimize the disruption of the contacts, the voltaic arc must be transferred as quickly as possible to the sparking plate and consequently, the arc must be spread dynamically to the extinguishing plates of the extinguishing chamber. Intensive cooling of the voltaic arc by the extinguishing plates as well as pressure conditions in the extinguishing chamber are the crucial factors for extinguishing the voltaic arc.
- the known extinguishing chambers are set-up, for example, from two side plates with holes, into which the extinguishing plates are inserted.
- the assembly is being secured transversely by rivets or screws, or alike.
- the extinguishing chambers are made from two thermosetting moldings, i.e. from a base into which the extinguishing plates are inserted, and from the cover securing the extinguishing plates.
- This concept does not offer the possibility to mount filter and deionization elements into the body of the extinguishing chamber and thus to efficiently set the pressure and technologically effective conditions influencing the voltaic arc being extinguished, also with respect to destructive effects of the plasma during its outburst into the vicinity of the electrical apparatus.
- the goal is to create an extinguishing chamber with adjustable pressure conditions for voltaic arc extinguishing with efficient influence upon the plasma outburst while switching off short-circuit current, as well as to create an extinguishing chamber of a modular set-up, without the use of additional binding elements, forming a firm assembly not necessary to being secured in any way against possible dissolution, and alike, whereas the given goal is achieved by a solution utilizing the invention, the essence of which is, that the extinguishing chamber consists from a two-part box, composed from a casing with extinguishing plates and sparking plates, to sides of which a cover with exhaust duct is tightly fitted, and at its beginning, at the dividing plane of the two-part box, a perimetral notch is created for insertion of at least one arbitrarily technologically effective filler with holes.
- a perforated transversal wall is placed in front of the perimetral notch in the exhaust duct, created at the time of cover production, technologically forming, for example, the filter element.
- the perimetral notch is created in the cover and contains cushion faces and lateral guide surfaces and at least one stopping jut for the aforesaid at least one filler.
- Fig.l is the vertical center section of the two-part box of the extinguishing chamber, with all the elements contained in it marked, including alternative filler fitted in the perimetral notch in the exhaust duct of the extinguishing chamber cover
- Fig.2 is the angle view of the extinguishing chamber in its disassembled state.
- Extinguishing chamber 1 for electrical apparatuses, particularly circuit breakers, is inset into the not-illustrated hollow in the base of the electrical apparatus and it encompasses, by a bundle of echeloned extinguishing plates 2 and sparking plates 3, the trajectory of the pathway of the end of the not-illustrated moving contact of the electrical apparatus.
- Extinguishing chamber 1 (Fig.l) consists of a two-part box, composed from a casing 4 with extinguishing plates 2 and sparking plates 3 and of a cover 5 with exhaust duct 6, tightly fitted to it.
- a perimetral notch 7 is created for insertion of at least one, arbitrarily technologically effective filler 8, e.g. filter element 9 and/or deionization element 10 with appropriate holes (Fig.2).
- the fillers 8 may be of varying construction, from a non-magnetic material or with a grid from magnetic metal, or alike, inclusive of various perforation configuration.
- Perimetral notch 7 (Fig.2), is created, according to the example of carrying out, in the cover 5 of the two-part box and it contains, for fillers 8, a cushion face 11 and lateral guide surfaces 12 and at least one stopping jut 13, preventing spontaneous drop-out of the filler 8 or filler couple 8 from the perimetral notch 7. In some cases, instead of cushion face
- a not-illustrated perforated transversal wall may be placed in front of the perimetral notch 7, creating in itself, for example, a filter element 9, created directly in production during cover 5 manufacture.
- Extinguishing chamber 1. is designed as a two-part box formed from thermosetting molds, while inside the casing 4 guide ribs 14 are created for insertion of the extinguishing plates 2 and sparking plates 3.
- Cover 5 of the extinguishing chamber 1 secures the extinguishing plates 2 and sparking plates 3 against release and keeps them in their proper position by its inner colar 15, which also seals the two-part box of the extinguishing chamber 1 against emanation diffusion from the extinguishing chamber 1 into the immediate vicinity in the hollow of the electrical apparatus.
- Inner collar 15 may be fitted with various other juts, for example juts 16, for stopping of the upper sparking plate 3, and alike.
- Cover 5 also regulates the gas blowout through the filter element 9 and/or deionization element 10 into the exhaust duct 6. Construction of the extinguishing chamber 1 does not imply usage of filter element 9 and deionization element 10. Extinguishing chamber 1 is functional even without the use of any of these various technologically effective fillers 8.
- a peep-hole opening 17 is present, for not-illustrated moving contact of the electrical apparatus.
