Abstract
Description
- The present invention relates to golf accessories and more particularly, to a golf counter that can be fastened to a necktie clip or golf glove for counting strokes as well as putts.
- Most golf courses consist of eighteen holes. The first stroke on each hole is hit from the teeing ground. Once on the green, the ball is putted toward the hole. Golf is a popular sport across all sections of society. People usually play golf in groups. Each player records the score on a score card with a pen. It is inconvenient to record the scoe in this manner. Further, a beginner may forget the number strokes actually played, raising a dispute.
- Further, people may wear golf gloves when playing the game of golf. It is inconvenient for a player to pick up a pen and a score card for recording the score when wearing golf gloves.
- Further, people may use an electronic scorer with push button for counting strokes during a golf game. However, it is inconvenient to use an electronic scorer with push button during a golf game.
- The present invention has been accomplished under the circumstances in view. It is the main object of the present invention to provide a golf counter, which has simple and small-size characteristics for use as a badge. The another object of the present invention is to provide a golf counter, which is convenient for use to count strokes as well as putts during a golf game.
- According to one aspect of the present invention, the golf counter comprises a first wheel member, a second wheel member, and a third wheel member. These three stacked wheels are pivotally connected. The first wheel member has a series of numerals marked on its top side for counting strokes. The second wheel member has a through viewing hole for the numerals of the first wheel member, and is marked with a series of numerals for counting putts. The third wheel member has a through viewing hole for the numerals of the second wheel member.
- According to another aspect of the present invention, the golf counter can be fastened to a clip, for example, necktie clip, by means of a magnet. Alternatively, the golf counter can be directly riveted to a golf glove for convenient use.

- FIG. 6 is a side view of a golf counter in accordance with a fourth embodiment of the present invention.
- FIG. 7 illustrates the golf counter of the second embodiment of the present invention riveted to a golf glove.
- Referring to FIG. 1, a
golf counter 1 in accordance with the first embodiment of the present invention is shown comprising afirst wheel member 11 and asecond wheel member 12. This first embodiment is for counting strokes, including putts, during a golf game. - The
first wheel member 11 has astub center shaft 111 perpendicularly protruding from the center of its top side with a series of numerals (for example, 1~12) 112 marked on it and equiangularly spaced around thestub center shaft 111, multiple turning/interlockingdevices 113 equiangularly spaced around the peripheral, and multiple ofrecesses 114 formed on the top side and equiangularly spaced around thestub center shaft 111. - The
second wheel member 12 is attached to the top side of thefirst wheel member 11, having acenter pivot hole 121 coupled to thestub center shaft 111 of thefirst wheel member 11, a throughviewing hole 124 for the user to see one of thenumerals 112, two downwardlugs 125 extending from the periphery at two opposite sides, apositioning device 1251 formed on the inside of each of thedownward lugs 125 and respectively engaged with one of the turning/interlocking 113 of thefirst wheel member 11 to hold down thesecond wheel member 12 to thefirst wheel member 11 in such a position that the throughviewing hole 124 is aimed at one of thenumerals 112, and multiple raisedstubs 123 protruding from its bottom side and equiangularly spaced around thecenter pivot hole 121 and respectively engaged into therecesses 114 of thefirst wheel member 11. Further, apivot cap 14 is fastened to thestub center shaft 111 of thefirst wheel member 11 to secure thesecond wheel member 12, allowing turning thesecond wheel member 12 around thestub center shaft 111 of thefirst wheel member 11. - During a golf game after each stroke, the user rotates the
first wheel member 11 relative to thesecond wheel member 12 to shift the engagement between thepositioning devices 1251 of thedownward lugs 125 and the turning/interlockingdevices 113 of thefirst wheel member 11 by one notch, thereby counting the number of strokes. - Referring to FIGS. 2-4, a
golf counter 1 in accordance with a second embodiment of the present invention is shown comprising abottom wheel member 11, amiddle wheel member 12, and atop wheel member 13. This first embodiment is for counting total strokes of each hole during a golf game. Thebottom wheel member 11 of this second embodiment is similar to that of the aforesaid first embodiment but only for tee and fairway shots. Themiddle wheel member 12 of this second embodiment is substantially similar to that of the aforesaid first embodiment with the exception that themiddle wheel member 12 of this second embodiment further has a series of numerals (for example, 0~5) 122, for counting number of putts, marked on the top side and equiangularly spaced around thecenter pivot hole 121. Thetop wheel member 13 is attached on top of themiddle wheel member 12, having a diameter relatively smaller than themiddle wheel member 12, acenter hole 131 pivotally coupled to thecenter stub shaft 111 of thebottom wheel member 11, a throughviewing hole 132 through which the user can see one of thenumerals 122, and at least one, for example, two raisedstubs 133 protruded from the bottom side and engaged into the raisedstubs 123 of themiddle wheel member 12. - After each stroke during a golf game, the user can rotate the
bottom wheel member 11 relative to themiddle wheel member 12 to shift the engagement between thepositioning devices 1251 of thedownward lugs 125 and the turning/interlockingdevices 113 of thebottom wheel member 11 by one notch, thereby counting the number of strokes, or rotate thetop wheel member 13 relative to themiddle wheel member 12 to shift the engagement between the raisedstubs 133 of thethird wheel member 13 and therecesses 123 of thesecond wheel member 12 to count putts. - Referring to FIGS. 6 and 7, the
golf counter 1 can be fastened to themetal base member metal clip magnet 3. By means of themetal clip golf counter 1 can be fastened to the user's clothing. - Referring to FIG. 8, the
golf counter 1 may be directly riveted to agolf glove 6 for convenient use. - As indicated above, the invention provides a golf counter, which has the following features.
- 1. The golf counter is comprised of a
bottom wheel member 11, amiddle wheel member 12, and atop wheel member 13. Thebottom wheel member 11, themiddle wheel member 13 and thetop wheel member 13 are pivotally connected together in a stack. Thebottom wheel member 11 has a series ofnumerals 112 marked on its top side for counting strokes, and multiple turning/interlockingdevices 113 equiangularly spaced around the periphery. Themiddle wheel member 12 has a throughviewing hole 124 through which one of thenumerals 112 of thebottom wheel member 11 is seen, apositioning device 1251 on each of two opposite peripheraldownward lugs 125 thereof for engagement with the turning/interlockingdevices 113, a series ofnumerals 122 marked on its top side for counting putts, andmultiple recesses 123 equiangularly spaced on its top side. Thetop wheel member 13 has a throughviewing hole 132 through which one of thenumerals 122 of themiddle wheel member 12 is shown, and raisedstubs 133 at its bottom side for engagement withrecesses 123 of themiddle wheel member 12. By means of rotating thebottom wheel member 11 relative to themiddle wheel member 12, the user can count strokes during a golf game. By means of rotating thetop wheel member 13 relative to themiddle wheel member 12, the user can count putts during a golf game. - 2. The
golf counter 1 can be equipped with anecktie clip 4 orclip 5 for fastening to the user's clothing. Alternatively, thegolf counter 1 can be directly riveted to agolf glove 6 for convenient use. - Although particular embodiments of the invention have been described in detail for purposes of illustration, various modifications and enhancements may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. Accordingly, the invention is not to be limited except as by the appended claims.

Claims (6)
- A golf counter comprising:a bottom wheel member comprising a stub center shaft, a series of numerals marked on a top side thereof and equiangularly spaced around said stub center shaft for counting strokes, a multiple turning/interlocking devices equiangularly spaced around the periphery thereof; anda middle wheel member pivotally coupled to the stub center shaft of said bottom wheel member and supported on the top side of said bottom wheel member, said middle wheel member having a through viewing hole for showing one of the numerals of said bottom wheel member, and two downward lugs extending from the periphery thereof at two opposite sides, said downward lugs each having a positioning device for engagement with the turning/interlocking devices of said bottom wheel member.
- The golf counter as claimed in claim 1, wherein said middle wheel member has a series of numerals marked on the top side of said bottom wheel member and equiangularly spaced around the stub center shaft of said bottom wheel member, and multiple recesses formed on the top side thereof and equiangularly spaced around the stub center shaft of said bottom wheel member; a top wheel member is supported on top of said middle wheel member and pivotally coupled to the stub center shaft of said bottom wheel member and rotatable relative to said middle wheel member for counting putts, said top wheel member having a through viewing hole for showing one of the numerals of said middle wheel member, and at least one raised stubs for engaging the recesses of said middle wheel member to hold the through viewing hole in alignment with one numeral of said middle wheel member.
- The golf counter as claimed in claim 1, wherein said bottom wheel member has multiple recesses formed on the top side thereof and equiangularly spaced around said stub center shaft; said middle wheel member has multiple raised stubs protruded from the bottom side thereof and engaged with the recesses of said bottom wheel member.
- The golf counter as claimed in claim 1, further comprising a clip, and a magnet that fasten said first wheel member to said necktie clip by means of magnetic attraction.
- The golf counter as claimed in claim 1, wherein said clip is a necktie clip.
- The golf counter as claimed in claim 1, wherein said pivot shaft of said first wheel member is riveted to a golf glove.
