Abstract
Description
- The present invention relates to a bottle. In particular, the present invention finds application within the field of bottled to contain high quality wine.
- As is well known, currently used bottles comprise a variously shaped side wall and a closing bottom whereon is modelled a symmetrical recess, e.g. with conical shape. The recess defines within the bottle an annular channel where possible solid residues of the wine concentrate. Moreover, said recess delimits a narrowing near the bottom, interposed between the latter and the side wall of the bottle, which is used as a gripping point to grasp the bottle and pour its content, placing a thumb on the side wall and inserting some fingers in the recess.
- Disadvantageously, bottles with these characteristics are not able to assure an efficient collection of the residues that concentrate in the annular channel. When the bottle is inclined to pour its content, the bottom inclines as well and the residues sedimented with the wine slide along the annular channel, in particular if the level of the wine is low, creating vortices that partly mix the residues with the wine. It is thereby impossible to avoid pouring some of the residues into the glass. Moreover, the gripping point, defined by the symmetrical recess and by the side wall, is not ergonomic and the grip may be found uncomfortable and not sufficiently secure.
- The Applicant has found that bottles of the type described can be improved under different aspects, particularly in relation to their ability to retain the residues and their ease of gripping.
- Document
GB-A-23388 - An object of the present invention, therefore, is to propose a bottle that does not allow wine residues to flow out. Another object of the present invention is to propose a bottle which can be gripped securely to pour the wine contained therein.
- Further characteristics and advantages shall become more readily apparent from the detailed description of a preferred, but not exclusive, embodiment, of a bottle according to the present invention.
- Said description shall be provided below with reference to the accompanying drawings, provided purely by way of non limiting indication, in which:
-
Figure 1 shows a first lateral view of a bottle in accordance with the present invention; -
Figure 2 shows a second lateral view of the bottle ofFigure 1 ; -
Figure 3 shows a view of the bottom of the bottle ofFigure 1 ; and -
Figure 4 shows a section view of a portion of the bottle ofFigure 1 . - With reference to the aforementioned figures, the
number 1 globally designates a bottle according to the present invention. - The
bottle 1 comprises alateral wall 2, with cone frustum shape, which develops along its longitudinal axis "X". Theneck 3 of thebottle 1 is constituted by a cylindrical body with smaller diameter than the average diameter of thelateral wall 2 and connected thereto through ajunction body 4. On an upper part of theneck 3 is obtained aband 5 which delimits anoutlet 6 of thebottle 1 and which serves the purpose of strengthening the terminal part of theneck 3 to make it suitable to receive a cork (not shown in the figure). - The
bottle 1 further comprises aclosing bottom 7 whereon are obtained ergonomic gripping means 8. Said gripping means comprise a first recess 9 which is positioned on alower portion 2a of thelateral wall 2 proximate to thebottom 7 and which is shaped to receive a thumb of a hand. Asecond recess 10 is instead obtained on thebottom 7 of thebottle 1 and it is shaped in such a way as to allow the insertion of fingers of the hand. Thebottom 7 has acircular bearing surface 7a which delimits thesecond recess 10. Said second recess is off-centred relative to thebottom 7 and extends prevalently towards the first recess 9, defining, in the lower part of thebottle 1, a thinned area which constitutes agrip body 11. In other words, thegrip body 11 is defined by a deformed area of thebottle 1 which is positioned between thelateral wall 2 and thebottom 7 and which extends along a limited circle arc portion (Fig. 3 ). It is meant to be pinched between the thumb and the index finger in order to grip thebottle 1 and it is solid, i.e. it has no cavities inside thebottle 1 to prevent the wine from stationing in undesired areas. - The
bottle 1 is also provided withmeans 12 for retaining the residues which comprise aninternal surface 13 of thebottom 7. It is inclined and it extends from anupper area 13a, which overlies the first recess 9, to alower area 14 diametrically opposite to the upper area and to the first recess 9 and positioned in proximity to a lower edge 2b of thelateral wall 2. Thelower area 14 constitutes an accumulation area for the resides that are formed in the wine, since the inclinedinner surface 13 promotes the concentration of the residues in this area, when thebottle 1 is set down in the vertical position. Themeans 12 to retain residues further comprises aprojection 15 which is positioned on aninner surface 16 of thelateral wall 2, in a position that is diametrically opposite to the ergonomic grip means 8, above theaccumulation area 14. In the illustrated embodiment, saidprojection 15 is rectilinear, oriented perpendicularly relative to the axis "X" of thebottle 1 and it is obtained deforming thelateral wall 2 with a fold. - When the
bottle 1 is inclined for pouring, theprojection 15 defines astagnation area 17, positioned between theaccumulation area 14 and theprojection 15. Under these conditions, the flow of the wine directed towards theoutlet 6 of thebottle 1 encounters theprojection 15 which prevents a modest quantity of liquid with the residues to flow out. Said means 12 for retaining the residues can also be present in an alternative embodiment which is not provided with the ergonomic grip means 8. - The present invention achieves the proposed objects and it obtains important advantages.
- First of all, the advantages observable in the bottle according to the present invention are essentially linked to the efficient collection of the wine residues and also to their retention in the
bottle 1. Theinner surface 13 of thebottom 7, being inclined, effectively conveys the residues towards theaccumulation area 14 which extends in a reduced portion of thebottom 7. Moreover, since the grip means 8 are appropriately positioned opposite to theaccumulation area 14, when a user inclines thebottle 1 to pour its content, there is no mixing of the residues which remain concentrated in theaccumulation area 14. Moreover, thestagnation area 17 defined by theprojection 15, being positioned above theaccumulation area 14, intercepts the residues while pouring, preventing outflows. Lastly, the ergonomic grip means 8 assure a strong and secure grasp.
