Description

The present invention relates to a loudspeaker intended to be immersed in water so as to propagate sounds.

In this field of underwater speakers have already been proposed using as a sound diffusion element, quartz.

For sealing problems that can be imagined, the diaphragm loudspeakers had always been excluded to broadcast sounds in the water, while the quartz had the advantage of being able to be coated with an insulating plastic material, While providing the desired sealing characteristics, but offering in return a very poor sound quality.

In fact, the quartz underwater speakers do not restore the bandwidth below 400 Hz, that is to say the low and low mediums. Listening to music in the water is extremely sensitive, of psycho-sensory nature, makes an inaccurate vibro-tactile signal is refused and the reaction of any individual is to get out of the water.

This type of water speaker has already found a sporting application in synchronized swimming and, in order to relax, it was imagined to transfer this technique to swimming pools, Jacuzzis, bathtubs, but the problem remained whole and it was considered that the spoken voice and quality music could not be broadcast and heard underwater.

According to a first step of the inventive step, this prejudice was overcome by considering that the spoken voice and the quality music could be perfectly diffused and heard under the water provided to use a membrane.

Of course, the traditional membranes which are tropicalized cardboard certainly supporting the humidity but which is by no means immersible, could not be envisaged.

It is by trying to overcome this second prejudice that the invention was made, but the solution was to offer firstly a high fidelity acoustic quality, that is to say, restoring the bandwidth of the musical frequency below 400 Hz namely serious and low midrange, and secondly a perfect seal.

FR 2633480 discloses an aquatic loudspeaker having a circular plastic membrane, a sealed inner chamber and a bell-shaped shell. EP 1063632 describes an aquatic loudspeaker having a sealed chamber, a peripheral rim and whose mounting of the membrane is obtained by molding.

For this purpose, the invention relates to a water speaker of the type consisting of a sound diffusion element or membrane, formed by a circular flat wall of plastic, which is associated with a coil consisting of an insulating support and a an electric winding, itself in connection with a peripheral magnet, so as to obtain the transformation of an electrical voltage into a musical frequency, comprising a bell-shaped shell, also made of plastic, associated on the one hand with the membrane by its open lower peripheral edge, and on the other hand to the magnet at least partially housed in a corresponding opening on the back of the shell, these elements constituting an assembly defining between them an internal sealed chamber inside which is disposed the electrical coil in close connection with the membrane and with the magnet, characterized in that the sealed assembly constituted by the membrane, the shell and the magnet comprises in its dorsal part, opposite to the membrane, an envelope providing additional sealing and the shape of which is such as to allow obtaining an optimum directivity of the sound.

The figure 4 is a perspective view, partly in section, of a loudspeaker assembly according to the figure 3 with an outer casing, according to a second embodiment.

The figure 5 is a schematic side view of a loudspeaker provided with an envelope according to the embodiment of the figure 4 .

La figure 6 est une vue de dessus d'un haut parleur selon la figure 5.The figure 6 is a top view of a speaker according to the figure 5 .

A loudspeaker is traditionally constituted by a sound diffusion element 2 which is associated with a coil 3 consisting of an insulating support 4 and an electric winding 5, itself in connection with a peripheral magnet 6, so that to obtain the transformation of an electrical voltage into a musical frequency.

According to the invention, the sound diffusion element 2 is a membrane 2 constituted by a circular flat wall made of plastic, of predetermined thickness, capable of producing the sound in association with the coil 3 and with a shell 7 in the form of bell, also made of plastic, associated on the one hand with the membrane 2 by its open lower peripheral edge 8, and on the other hand with the magnet 6 accommodating at least partially in a corresponding opening 9 formed on the back 7a of the shell 7, these elements constituting an assembly defining between them an internal sealed chamber 10 inside which is disposed the electric coil 3 in close connection with the membrane 2 and with the magnet 6.

As the figures 1 or 4 , according to different embodiments, the sealed assembly constituted by the membrane 2, the shell 7 and the magnet 6 comprises in its dorsal portion 7a, opposite the membrane 2, an envelope 11, 12 providing additional sealing and whose shape is such as to obtain an optimum directivity of the sound.

More particularly, according to the exemplary embodiment of Figures 1 and 2 the outer casing 11 is obtained by overmoulding of generally cylindrical shape or in the form of an electric bulb and comprises fastening means 13 arranged so as to allow the mounting of said speaker instead of a light projector underwater, replacing his bulb.

According to the second exemplary embodiment shown figures 4 , 5 and 6 , the outer casing 12 is obtained by overmoulding in the shape of scallop shells, to present an aperture plane P in which is able to register the plane membrane 2, while allowing overmoulding of variable thickness, low e forward, relatively thicker E backwards, so as to obtain optimum directivity of the sound.

According to another characteristic of the invention, particularly clearly visible on the figure 3 , the shell 7 is associated with the membrane 2, near their respective perimeter edges, via an outer peripheral lip 14 coming from the membrane 2 and obtained with it during the same molding operation a plastic material, said lip 14 forming a cleat against the inner peripheral side wall of which abuts by pressing the outer side wall of its lower peripheral edge 8 of the shell 7.

Par ailleurs, la fixation externe et la retenue axiale de la membrane 2 par rapport à la coque 7 sont réalisées par l'intermédiaire d'un nombre prédéterminé de vis (non représentées) traversant dans une direction radiale le taquet périphérique 14 de la membrane 2 puis le bord périphérique inférieur 8 de la coque 7.Moreover, the external fixation and the axial retention of the membrane 2 with respect to the shell 7 are made by means of a predetermined number of screws (not shown) traversing in a radial direction the peripheral cleat 14 of the membrane 2 then the lower peripheral edge 8 of the shell 7.

In order to perfect the seal, the membrane 2 defines in its plane P ', beyond its peripheral cleat 14, a flange 15, also peripheral, intended to retain a sealant when it is applied to the peripheral zone bottom of the assembly, constituted by the cleat 14, the base 8 of the shell 7 and the screws.

According to another characteristic of the invention, the membrane 2 comprises on its inner face a zone forming a bowl 16 delimited by two concentric lips, the inner one 17 being intended for interlocking by the outside of the insulating support 4 of the coil 3, with a predefined clamping, the other external 18, defining with the first 17 the bowl 16 intended to form a glue tank in which the peripheral end of the support 4 of the coil 3, the latter being immersed, has also been coated with glue, prior to its nesting, so as to obtain an inseparable connection with the membrane 2.

The tests have shown that excellent results have been obtained with a membrane 2 made of plastic, having a thickness of between 2 and 4 mm.

Regarding the materials used, the membrane 2 may be made of a polyurethane plastic reinforced with glass fibers, while the shell 7 may for example be made of filled polypropylene.

The envelope as for it is made from a silicone resin.

These different materials are insensitive to chlorinated water.

According to an alternative embodiment not shown, the membrane 2 and the shell 7 are obtained in a single piece, during a single molding operation.
