Definitions
- the invention relates to a bed comprising a frame, at least one support that is part of or is supported by the frame, at least one sack filled with viscous and/or gaseous and/or elastic material present on the support, a mattress that is at least partly present above the sack, and several horizontally spaced, sprung spacing elements that are connected together, which are present between the sack and the mattress.
- a mattress in this context is defined as one filled with a medium other than a liquid or gas. Keeping the mattress at a distance from the sack ensures better ventilation. This makes sleeping in such a bed comfortable.
- Such a bed is known from Dutch patent application no. 1021778 .
- the spacing elements are on a slatted base.
- This slatted base consists of separate slats that are connected together via two ribbons. The slats can therefore be moved with respect to each other and transfer the change of shape of the sack to the mattress.

This means that all spacing elements can be moved with respect to each other, so that the spacing elements adapt to the body shape of the person in both the left-right and bottom-top direction of a person and transfer the distortion of the sack better to the mattress than in the well-known bed.
- An embodiment of the bed according to the invention is characterised in that the lattice element is built up of flexible lattice bridges, which are fastened together at lattice points, in which there are lattice openings between the lattice bridges, and in which the spacing elements are connected to the lattice element at the lattice points.

Abstract
A bed 1 has a frame 3 in which there is a support 5 in the form of a rigid plate, which is supported by the frame 3. There are three sacks 7 on the support 5, which are filled with visco-elastic foam.
There is a mattress 9 above the sacks 7. The mattress 9 is kept apart from the sacks 7 by sprung spacing elements 11 placed between the sacks and the mattress. The spacing elements 11 are detachable from a flexible lattice element 13.
The lattice element 13 has flexible lattice bridges 13a, which are fastened together at lattice points 13b, in which there are rectangular lattice openings 13c between the lattice bridges.
The lattice element 13 with the spacing elements 11 present thereon adapts to the body shape of a person in both the left-right and the bottom-top direction of the person.
Description
- The invention relates to a bed comprising a frame, at least one support that is part of or is supported by the frame, at least one sack filled with viscous and/or gaseous and/or elastic material present on the support, a mattress that is at least partly present above the sack, and several horizontally spaced, sprung spacing elements that are connected together, which are present between the sack and the mattress. A mattress in this context is defined as one filled with a medium other than a liquid or gas. Keeping the mattress at a distance from the sack ensures better ventilation. This makes sleeping in such a bed comfortable.
- Such a bed is known from
Dutch patent application no. 1021778 - An objective of the invention is to provide a bed of the sort described in the preamble, which is more comfortable than the well-known bed. For this purpose the bed according to the invention is characterised in that the spacing elements are present on at least one flexible lattice element.
- Preferably four lattice bridges converge at at least all lattice points not present on the edge of the lattice element. Moreover, the lattice openings are preferably rectangular.
- The spacing elements are preferably detachable from the lattice element.
- A further embodiment of the bed according to the invention is characterised in that the lattice element is built up of part-elements detachably connected together. Preferably the part-elements are connected together in different ways, in which they more or less overlap each other so that the size of the lattice openings can be varied and thus also the length of the lattice bridges and therewith the distance between the lattice points. The part-elements are preferably cross-shaped.
- Still a further embodiment of the bed according to the invention is characterised in that the sack is filled with visco-elastic foam. This material has more favourable properties than a liquid or gas.
- The invention also relates to a lattice element provided with sprung spacing elements for use in the bed according to the invention.
- The invention will be elucidated more fully below on the basis of drawings in which an embodiment of the bed according to the invention is shown. In these drawings:
- Figure 1 shows an embodiment of the bed according to the invention in parts in perspective;
- Figure 2 shows a side-elevation of the bed; and
- Figure 3 shows a front-elevation of the bed.
- Figures 1, 2 and 3 show an embodiment of the bed according to the invention in perspective, side-elevation and front elevation respectively. The
bed 1 has aframe 3 in which there is asupport 5 in the form of a rigid plate, which is supported by theframe 3. There are threesacks 7 on thesupport 5, which are filled with visco-elastic foam. - There is a
mattress 9 placed above thesacks 7. Themattress 9 is kept at a distance from thesacks 7 by sprungspacing elements 11 present between the sacks and the mattress. Thespacing elements 11 are well-known, and are elements used on existing slatted bases and are detachable from aflexible lattice element 13. - The
lattice element 13 hasflexible lattice bridges 13a, which are fastened together atlattice points 13b, so that there arerectangular lattice openings 13c between the lattice bridges, and in which four lattice bridges converge at all lattice points. Thelattice element 13 with thespacing elements 11 present thereon therefore adapts to the body shape of a person in both the left-right and the bottom-top direction of the person. - The
lattice element 13 is built up of detachably connected cross-shaped part-elements 13', which click together with stud-hole connections. The part-elements 13' have several studs and holes so that they can be connected together in different ways. In this way they more or less overlap each other so that the size of the lattice openings can be varied and thus also the length of the lattice bridges and therewith the distance between the lattice points. Thespacing elements 11 can be detached from thelattice element 13 at thelattice points 13b, also via a click connection. - Although in the above the invention is explained on the basis of the drawings, it should be noted that the invention is in no way limited to the embodiment shown in the drawings. The invention also extends to all embodiments deviating from the embodiment shown in the drawings within the context defined by the claims. Thus the part-elements can also have another shape than the cross-shape shown here, such as for example an elongated or rectangular shape.
