Abstract

A washing arrangement for a flagpole (1) comprises a spiral-shaped springy element (3) with for example three windings (4) inside which at the top and bottom is mounted a flexible scraping list or brush, respectively (5) and (6), in the full length of the windings (4). The scraping lists have an internal diameter (d), which in the unloaded conditions is smaller than the smallest diameter of the flagpole. The windings (4) are internally embodied with a hollow space (9) which extends in the full length of the windings (4) and are closed at both ends. In the internal wall (10) of the windings (4) there are between the scraping lists (5, 6) holes (11) drilled at regular intervals into the hollow space (9) which is connected to a pipe (12) through which a cleaning fluid or water is flushed under pressure into the hollow space (9). The element (3) is at the middle winding mounted in a holding fitting (13), which in the mounted position of the element (3) extends in the longitudinal direction of the flagpole and at top and bottom has eyes, respectively (15) and (16) in which the ends of a halyard (19) can be attached. The washing arrangement can thus be moved up and down by pulling one or the other part of the halyard (19). The flagpole can in this way be washed without having to be lowered.

Description

Washing arrangement for a column with a circular cross section, preferably a flagpole.
The present invention relates to a washing arrangement for the washing or cleaning of a column with a circular cross section, preferably a flagpole.
When a flagpole is to be washed or cleaned it has to be lowered, and after having been washed it has to be put upright again. This is a cumbersome and time consuming job.
It is a purpose of the present invention to describe a washing arrangement by means of which a flagpole in its upright position can be washed without having to be lowered.
This is achieved by the use of a washing arrangement, which is embodied as described in the characterising part of claim l.
Claim 2 relates to a preferred material for the construction of a washing arrangement according to the invention.
Claim 3 relates to preferred means for the fixing of an element for a holding fitting for a washing arrangement according to the invention, and
claim 4 relates to the embodiment of a pipe for the supply of water or cleaning fluid for a washing arrangement according to the invention.
The invention is described in detail below with reference to the drawing, in which
fig. 1 is a side view in perspective of a washing arrangement according to the invention placed on a flagpole,
fig. 2 is a larger scale view of a diametrical section through a washing arrangement according to the invention,
fig. 3 is a different-scale side view in perspective of a washing arrangement according to the invention,
fig. 4 shows the washing arrangement viewed in the direction of the arrows I-I in fig. 3, and fig. 5 is a perspective view shown from a different angle of a washing arrangement according to the invention. As shown in the drawing a washing arrangement 2 for a flagpole 1 comprises a spiral-shaped springy element 3, which by way of example can have three windings 4.
Inside the windings 4 is mounted at the top and at the bottom an elastic scraping list or a brush, respectively 5 and 6, in the full length of the windings 4, and which in the unloaded condition have an internal diameter d, which is smaller than the smallest diameter of a flagpole 1. The scraping lists 5,6 are kept in place in the windings 4. By way of example, they can be embodied with a dovetail-shaped spring 7, which is inserted in a dovetailed groove 8 in the windings 4.
The windings 4 are internally embodied with a hollow space 9 in the full length of the windings 4, and which is closed at both ends and can be located in an space between the scraping lists 5 and 6. In the internal wall 10 of the windings 4, holes 11 are drilled at regular intervals into the hollow space 9, which is coupled to a pipe 12 through which cleaning fluid or water is fed under pressure into the hollow space 9.
The springy element 3 is mounted in a holding fitting 13, which is parallel with the centre line c-c through the element 3. The holding fitting can be fastened to the middle winding 4, and on the side facing towards the element 3 it is embodied with a groove 14 through which is carried the winding 4, which is to be held in place.
The holding fitting 13 is at top and bottom embodied with eyes, respectively 17 and 18, which are to be secured each to its own end of a flag halyard 19. By pulling one or the other part of the halyard the springy element 3 can be moved up or down along the flagpole 1.
The windings 4 can be made of a synthetic material, and on the inside they can be embodied, for example, with a rectangular hollow space 20, which can accommodate a spring 20'.
The pipe 12 is carried through the holding fitting 13 and continues on the external side of the holding fitting into an L-shaped part 21, which in the mounted position of the element 3 on a flagpole is oriented downwards in the longitudinal direction of the holding fitting 13. The L-shaped part 21 is at its end embodied with a coupling part 22 whose other part 23 is fitted to a flexible hose 24.
The element 3 is arranged round a flagpole by opening the spiral-shaped element 3.
During the washing process water or cleaning fluid is supplied through the hose 24. The fluid is admitted through the space 9 and discharged through the holes 11. By a simultaneous movement up or down of the springy element 3 the flagpole will be cleaned.
