DISPOSITIF A SURFACE HYDROPHOBE ET/OU LIPOPHOBE ET PROCEDE DE REALISATION D'UN TEL DISPOSITIF
DESCRIPTION
DOMAINE TECHNIQUE L'invention concerne un dispositif à surface hydrophobe, c'est-à-dire qui repousse l'eau, ne l'absorbe pas ou ne s'y dissout pas, et/ou "lipophobe", c'est-à-dire, par analogie, qui repousse les substances grasses, ne les absorbe pas ou ne s'y dissout pas, et un procédé de réalisation d'un tel dispositif.
ETAT DE LA TECHNIQUE ANTERIEURE La fabrication de surfaces super- hydrophobes présente un intérêt de plus en plus grand du fait que de telles surfaces trouvent de nombreux domaines d'application. De telles surfaces peuvent être obtenues par modification de leur rugosité et de leur énergie de surface. En pratique, des motifs géométriques peuvent être gravés sur de telles surfaces en utilisant des procédés de photolithographie ou d'usinage. Il est alors nécessaire de rendre hydrophobes ces surfaces par greffage ou dépôt de composés hydrophobes. Ils peuvent également être obtenus par dispersion de particules micrométriques dans un gel ou une résine appliqués sur cette surface. Dans ce cas, les particules sont intrinsèquement hydrophobes .
De telles surfaces peuvent également être rendues hydrophobes par dépôt de nanofibres, c'est-à- dire des fibres de taille nanométrique, sur ces surfaces suivi d'une réaction chimique sur ces nanofibres. Un article intitulé "Super-Amphiphobic aligned carbon nanotube films" de Huanjun Li, Xianbao Wang, Yanlin Song, Yungi Liu, Qianshu Li, Lei Jiang, et Daoben Zhu (Angew. Chem. Int., Ed. 2001, 40, No. 9, pages 1743-1746) décrit ainsi la croissance de films constitués de nanofibres de carbone (NTC) alignées, disposées perpendiculairement à la surface d'un substrat, et entassées de manière serrée, avec une longueur et un diamètre uniformes, puis l'immersion de ces nanofibres dans un solution méthanolique de fluoroalthylsilane hydrolysée. La figure 1 illustre un exemple de dispositif obtenu à partir de telles nanofibres de carbone 10 rendues hydrophobes par réaction chimique. Comme illustré sur cette figure : - Chaque nanofibre de carbone 10 est posée sur la surface 11, et n'est pas adhérente sur celle-ci. - Seule la partie supérieure 12 de chaque nanofibre de carbone 10 est rendue hydrophobe. - Il n'y a pas continuité de traitement : • sur toute la surface de chaque nanofibre de carbone, • sur la surface entre les nanofibres de carbone . Une telle non-continuité de traitement est due principalement au moyen utilisé pour rendre
hydrophobes les nanofibres de carbone. Le réactif liquide utilisé ne peut atteindre toute la surface de chaque nanofibres de carbone 10 à cause de phénomènes de capillarité. De plus ce réactif liquide ne réagit qu'avec le carbone et non pas avec la surface sous- jacente. En présence d'un phénomène de condensation de vapeur d'eau, cette vapeur d'eau se forme en priorité sur la surface 13 entre les nanofibres de carbone, qui n'est pas hydrophobe. Cette surface 13 est donc automatiquement polluée par cette condensation et les impuretés transportées par celle-ci.
L'invention a pour objet d'améliorer le caractère hydrophobe d'un tel dispositif en utilisant un autre procédé de dépôt de film polymère.
EXPOSÉ DE L'INVENTION L'invention concerne un dispositif à surface hydrophobe et/ou lipophobe comprenant un tapis nanofibres, par exemple de carbone, caractérisé en ce que ces nanofibres de carbone sont totalement gainées par un film polymère hydrophobe et/ou lipophobe continu, par exemple du polysiloxane ou un polymère carbofluoré, et en ce que la surface entre ces nanofibres est recouverte par une couche de ce même polymère. L'invention concerne également un procédé de réalisation d'un tel dispositif à surface hydrophobe et/ou lipophobe qui comprend une étape de dépôt de nanofibres sur une surface dudit dispositif,
caractérisé en ce qu'il comporte, ensuite, une étape de gainage de ces nanofibres par un polymère hydrophobe et/ou lipophobe réalisée par une technique de dépôt physique par voie sèche, ou par une technique d' électro-greffage. Dans un exemple de réalisation le procédé de l'invention comporte les étapes suivantes : une étape de dépôt de nanofibres de carbone sur une surface d'une pièce, qui comprend successivement : • un dépôt de catalyseur par une méthode PVD ("Physical Vapor Déposition"), le catalyseur étant déposé sous vide à une pression de quelques 10"3 mbar, une cible composée d'un matériau catalytique étant bombardée par un flux d'argon ionisé, les atomes de la cible ainsi éjectés recouvrant cette surface, • l'introduction de la pièce ainsi recouverte dans l'enceinte d'un four CVD sous vide pour réaliser le dépôt de nanofibres de carbone, le catalyseur étant tout d'abord mis en goutte sous l'effet de la montée en température de la pièce, un précurseur d'hydrocarbure étant ensuite introduit dans cette enceinte, la croissance des nanofibres de carbone s 'effectuant à l'endroit où le catalyseur est mis en goutte. - une étape de gainage des nanofibres par un polymère hydrophobe avec une technique PECVD ("Plasma enhanced chemical vapor déposition") ou par une technique d' électro-greffâge . La présente invention permet de réaliser des nanofibres hydrophobes permettant d'obtenir des
angles de contact d'un liquide sur un solide très élevés : par exemple supérieurs à 160°. Les domaines d'applications de l'invention sont très larges. Ce sont par exemple la réalisation : - d'électrodes électrochimiques pour une analyse analytique, de systèmes d'injections d'encres pour l'impression papier, - de canaux de distribution ou de rétention de liquide dans des micro-systèmes d'analyse biologique, - de surfaces des pistons pour l'injection de nourriture liquide, des plaques texturées d'échangeurs thermiques, de capteurs biologiques ou de microcavités dans lesquels s'écoulent des fluides nécessitant la présence d'une surface hydrophobe. Une telle technologie est aussi applicable pour les besoins de surfaces auto-nettoyantes et/ou anti-condensation.
BRÈVE DESCRIPTION DES DESSINS La figure 1 illustre un dispositif de l'art antérieur muni d'une surface hydrophobe. La figure 2 illustre un dispositif à surface hydrophobe selon l'invention. La figure 3 illustre la forme d'une goutte d'eau déposée sur la surface constitué par l'extrémité supérieure des nanofibres du dispositif de l'invention.
EXPOSE DETAILLE DE MODES DE REALISATION PARTICULIERS
Le dispositif de l'invention, comme illustré sur la figure 2, est un dispositif à surface hydrophobe et/ou lipophobe comprenant un tapis de nanofibres 20, qui sont totalement gainées par un film polymère 21, hydrophobe et/ou lipophobe, continu. La surface 22 existant entre ces nanofibres est, elle- aussi, recouverte par une couche de ce même polymère. La continuité du film polymère permet le collage ou la fixation solide des nanofibres sur la surface 23. Le gainage peut être réalisé par une technique de dépôt physique par voie sèche ou par une technique d1 électro-greffâge . On peut ainsi avoir les caractéristiques suivantes : exemple de nanofibres utilisées : nanofibres de carbone exemple de film polymère utilisé : polysiloxne ou polymère carbofluoré - diamètre d'une nanofibre 20 : environ 20 à 30 nm - longueur d'une nanofibre : environ 3μm - épaisseur du film polymère hydrophobe : environ 50 nm. Le procédé de réalisation d'un tel dispositif à surface hydrophobe et/ou lipophobe comprend ainsi une étape de dépôt de nanofibres sur une surface dudit dispositif, puis une étape de gainage de ces nanofibres par un polymère hydrophobe et/ou
lipophobe par une technique de dépôt physique par voie sèche ou par une technique d' électro-greffâge . La figure 3 illustre la forme d'une goutte d'eau 30 d'environ 1,5 mm de diamètre déposée sur le tapis de nanofibres de carbone 20 ainsi traitées formant une surface hydrophobe. Cette goutte 31 est légèrement déformée par son poids, l'angle de contact réel θ pour une goutte non déformée étant donc supérieur à 175°. Dans un exemple de réalisation d'une couche super-hydrophobe, on a les étapes suivantes : une étape de dépôt d'un tapis de nanofibres de carbone sur une surface d'une pièce, comprenant successivement : • un dépôt de catalyseur par une méthode
PVD, ce catalyseur étant déposé sous vide à une pression de quelques 10"3 mbar, une cible composée d'un matériau catalytique étant bombardée par un flux d'argon ionisé, les atomes de la cible ainsi éjectés recouvrant cette surface, • l'introduction de cette pièce ainsi recouverte dans un four CVD ("Chemical Vapor Déposition") sous vide pour réaliser le dépôt de nanofibres de carbone, le vide limite étant de quelques 10"3 mbar, le catalyseur étant tout d'abord mis en goutte sous 1 ' effet de la montée en température de la pièce, un précurseur d'hydrocarbure étant ensuite introduit dans l'enceinte, la croissance des nanofibres de carbone s 'effectuant à l'endroit où ce catalyseur est mis en goutte,
- une étape de gainage des nanofibres par un polymère hydrophobe avec une technique PECVD ou par une technique d' électro-greffâge . Lors de l'étape de dépôt, la pression se situe entre 0,1 et 3 Bar. Un précurseur de polysiloxane (hexamethyl disiloxane, Octamethyl cyclotetrasiloxane, hexamethyldisilane, diphenyl methylsilane,...) ou carbofluore est introduit dans l'enceinte et dilué dans un gaz porteur (Ar, He, H2,.„). L'épaisseur du tapis de nanofibres déposé est de l'ordre d'une centaine de nanomètres. Il est de plus intéressant de remarquer que ce matériau hydrophobe, bien que intrinsèquement isolant électrique, a des propriétés de conduction électrique non négligeables lorsqu'il est déposé en couche mince sur des nanotubes. On peut alors envisager d'utiliser les nanotubes recouverts de polymère hydrophobe comme électrodes. En particulier, on pourra structurer, avant le dépôt du matériau hydrophobe, le tapis de nanotubes en pavés isolés les uns des autres puis recouvrir chacun de ces pavés par le polymère hydrophobe de façon à reconstituer une matrice d'électrodes.
Claims
1. Dispositif à surface hydrophobe et/ou lipophobe comprenant un tapis de nanofibres (20) , caractérisé en ce que ces nanofibres (20) sont totalement gainées par un film polymère hydrophobe et/ou lipophobe continu, et en ce que la surface (22) entre ces nanofibres est recouverte par une couche de ce même polymère .
2. Dispositif selon la revendication 1, dans lequel les nanofibres (20) sont des nanofibres de carbone .
3. Dispositif selon la revendication 1, dans lequel le film polymère est du polysiloxane ou un polymère carbofluore.
4. Procédé de réalisation d'un dispositif à surface hydrophobe et/ou lipophobe qui comprend une étape de dépôt de nanofibres sur une surface dudit dispositif, caractérisé en ce qu'il comporte, ensuite, une étape de gainage de ces nanofibres par un polymère hydrophobe et/ou lipophobe par une technique de dépôt physique par voie sèche, ou par une technique d ' électro-greffage .

Procédé selon la revendication 4, dans lequel on a les étapes suivantes : une étape de dépôt de nanofibres de carbone sur une surface d'une pièce qui comprend successivement : • un dépôt de catalyseur par une méthode PVD, une cible composée d'un matériau catalytique étant bombardée par un flux d'argon ionisé, les atomes de la cible ainsi éjectés recouvrant cette surface, • l'introduction de la pièce ainsi recouverte dans un four CVD sous vide pour réaliser le dépôt de nanofibres de carbone, le catalyseur étant tout d'abord mis en goutte sous l'effet de la montée en température de la pièce, un précurseur d'hydrocarbure étant ensuite introduit dans l'enceinte, la croissance des nanofibres de carbone s ' effectuant à 1 ' endroit où le catalyseur est mis en goutte, - une étape de gainage des nanofibres par un polymère hydrophobe par une technique PECVD ou par une technique d' électro-greffâge .
