Abstract

This invention relates to a refrigerator (1) comprising a carrier (30) which enables the inner space of the body (2) and surface of the shelves (4) to be used effectively.

Description

Description A REFRIGERATOR
[001] This invention relates to a refrigerator which enables the hard to access unused volumes in the body and on the shelves to be used effectively.
[002] Cooling appliances, for example refrigerators, comprise various shelves, boxes, compartments etc. wherein materials are stacked and placed easily. The shelves are placed, for example one under the other, in such a way that they are parallel to each other and the objects required to be cooled are placed on the shelves. The effective use of the space between the shelves gets harder as the objects required to be cooled may have different sizes and particularly different heights. For instance, if a tall jar and at the same time small food preservation containers are placed on a shelf, the space above the preservation containers cannot be used. Consequently, the space loses of these kind causes the consumer not to be able to use an important part of a refrigerator effectively.
[003] In the state of art, United States Patent No.US2889054, a specific space of the shelf can be used as a double layer by means of an additional part placed on the shelf. In this way, while tall objects are placed on one part of the shelf, two low objects, such as two plates on top of each other, can be placed on the part where the additional part has been used and still not occupy the space occupied by a single plate. In this embodiment, if there is a need to place tall objects on the entire shelf then the additional part has to be taken out of the refrigerator. Taking out the additional part in such a way creates a disadvantage for the operator.
[004] In the state of art, United States Patent No.US2668423, a specific space of the shelf can be used as a double layer by means of an additional part fixed in between the two shelves on the side wall. In this way, the top surface of the additional part could be used as a loading space and low objects could be placed on the shelf below the additional part. In this embodiment, it is not possible to use the entire shelf for stacking tall objects.
[005] In the state of art, German Patent document No.DE929795, a specific space of the shelf can be used as a double layer by means of an additional part fixed in between the two shelves on the side wall and which is foldable when not in use. In this way, when the entire shelf is used to stack tall objects, the additional part is folded and set against the side wall, thus using the entire space is ensured. In this embodiment, the dimension of the additional part is limited as it is foldable.
[006] The object of the invention is to realize a refrigerator which enables the hard to access unused volumes in the body and on the shelves to be used effectively.
[007]
[008] A refrigerator realized in order to attain above-mentioned objects of the invention has been illustrated in the attached drawings, wherein; [009] Figure 1 - is a perspective view of a refrigerator.

[037] The refrigerator (1), which is the subject of the invention, comprises a body (2), a door (3) which enables access inside the body (2), one or more shelves (4) which are placed in the body (2) on which various objects such as food preservation containers are placed, a carrier (30) on which plates (20), pans (21) etc. are placed and a recess (8) wherein the carrier (30) is mounted and which is located on the shelf (4) or body (2) .
[038] Despite the edge structure differences, wide and short in height objects, such as plates (20) and pans (21) can be placed on the carrier (30). The plate (20) or the pan (21) comprises a base (22) and an edge (23). [039] The body (2) comprises one or more side wall (5), a rear wall (6) and one or more shelf supports (7) which carry the shelves (4) placed on itself and which are placed on side walls (5) or rear wall (6).
[040] The carrier (30) comprises an extension (31) which enables fastening on the body (2) or the shelf (4) by settling in the recess (8), more than one carrier (33) on which a plate (20) or a pan (21) is placed, a hanger (32) on which holders (33) are attached, a lower support surface (34) which is located on the holder (33) and on which the base (22) of a plate (20) or a pan (21) is rested in such a way that the center of gravity is left outside and a upper support surface (35) which is located beneath the holder (33) on which the edges (23) of the plate (20) or the pan (21) rests which prevents the rotation momentum formed by the weight of the plate (20) and the pan (21) as the center of gravity of the plate (20) and the pan (21) is left outside the lower support surface (34) and which ensures the plate (20) or the pan (21) to hang in the air by being wedged in between the two holders (33) from there edges (23).
[041] The carrier (30) is fixed by placing an extension (31) in the recess (8) which is located in the body (2) and on the walls (5 or 6) or the shelves (4). When the carrier (30) is fixed in the recess (8) the hanger (32) extends, preferably in a downward, between the two shelves (4). When the user desires to use the carrier (30) he/she places the plate (20) or the pan (21) in between the holders (33). While the plate (20) or the pan (21) is placed in between the holders (33), their edges (23) are slightly inclined downwards and they are inserted in between the two holders (33), a small portion of the plate (20) or the pan (21) are placed on the lower support surface (34) of the holder (33) which is located below in such a way that the centre of gravity is left outside and their edge (23) is support the upper support surface (35) of the holder (33) which is located above. When the user leaves the plate (20) or the pan (21) after placing them in between the holders (33), the plate (20) or the pan (21) is hung in the air by being wedged from their edges by the holders (33) due to the upper support surface (35) which prevents the rotation momentum formed by the plate's (20) or the pan's (21) weight despite that only a small portion of the of the plate's (20) or pan's (21) base is rested on the resting surface (22) in such a way that the centre of gravity is left outside. Similarly, when the plate (20) or the pan (21) is taken out of the holders (33), their edges (23) are parted from the upper support surface (35) of the upper holder (33) and they are released from the holders (33) by slightly being raised upwards from the base (22).
[042] For example, when the two plates (20) are placed in between the holders (33) of the carriers (30) which comprise three holders (33), the upper plate's (20) edge (23) is support the upper support surface (35) of the uppermost holder (33). The uppermost holder (33) supports only the top plate (20). On the lower support surface (34) of the lowest holder (33) the lower plate's (20) base (22) is rested. The lowest holder (33) carries only the plate (20) on the bottom. On the lower support surface (34) of the middle holder (33) the base (22) of the upper plate (20) is rested and the lower plate's (20) edge is support the lower support surface (34). The middle holder (33) carries the upper plate (20) and supports the lower plate (20).
[043] In another embodiment of the invention, the carrier (30) comprises a stopper (36) which is located on the upper support surface (35) and which restricts the movement of the plate (20) or the pan (21) at the horizontal axis.
[044] In another embodiment of the invention, the carrier (30) comprises a groove (37) which is located on the lower surface of the lowest holder (33) and which enables placing objects easily on the lowest shelf (4).
[045] In another embodiment of the invention, the space between the holders (33) is set according to the height of the plates (20) or pans (21) which are to be carried by sliding up and down the holders (33) along the hanger (32). The mechanisms which are located on hanger (32) and holders (33), such as compression mechanisms or by means of threaded structures, ensure the holders (33) to stop at a desired point.
[046] The carrier (30), if desired, can be taken out of the refrigerator (1) and can be hand- washed or washed in a dish-washer.
[047] The carrier (30) takes up a small amount of space or can be taken out of the refrigerator (1) when it is not used as the surfaces of the holders (33) are small when compared with the base (22) areas of the plates (20) or the pans (21) that it carries, and when it is used it enables the unused volumes above wide containers such as plates (20) or pans (21) which are placed on the shelves (4) to be used effectively.
