Abstract

"Spatula for peeling treatments" of the type having some electromechanical transducers (1) arranged on a metal plate (2) mounted inside a casing (3,4), characterised essentially in that it incorporates means of cooling the transducers (1).

Description

  • The subject of this invention, as expressed in this descriptive memorandum, consists of a spatula for peeling treatments as used in beauty and aesthetic salons.
  • There are various types of facial treatments on the market; one of the most popular is peeling, which consists in the application of exfoliant creams for the purpose of softening the outer layers of dead skin of the person being treated, so that they can subsequently be removed by some type of spatula specially designed for the purpose.
  • There is a standard type of spatula which uses the application of mechanical vibrations, normally at high frequency, as a means of lifting and removing the layers of dead skin together with the exfoliant cream previously applied to the surface of the skin.
  • This model of vibrating spatula is normally constituted by a metal plate, to which are attached an set of electromechanical transducers, also standard, which in fact generate the vibrations from a specific supply of electrical energy. These vibrations are transmitted directly to the metal plate and from this to the skin.
  • The assembly formed by the plate and transducers is normally located in a plastic container adapted to the shape of the hand so that the operator in charge of carrying out the facial treatment, or even the actual user, can use the device comfortably.
  • This type of standard electromechanical transducer, mounted on a plate, is subject to an important problem, which is that the transducers generate a large amount of heat which is transmitted directly to the metal plate, which has a certain rigidity necessary for the transmission of vibrations. The heat weakens this rigidity and makes the material forming the plate become more flexible, and this means that the transmission of the vibrations is interrupted. The plate recovers its initial rigidity as the piezoelectric temperature falls, allowing it to become operative again.
  • This safety system is an inconvenience for the client undergoing the treatment as, from time to time, the treatment is interrupted by the effect of loss of rigidity of the plate, described above, which stops the spatula from functioning while waiting for the transducers to cool so that it can continue.
  • This stopping from time to time is inconvenient because it lengthens disagreeably, for the client or user, the time that the peeling treatment lasts.
  • To reduce this inconvenience, the new model of peeling spatula has been designed based on some standard electromechanical transducers mounted on a metal plate which is placed inside an ergonomic casing formed of two independent pieces which close one over the other, but fitted with a cooling or forced ventilation system which prevents the device from reaching maximum temperature and thus rising to a critical temperature for rigidity, so that the device does not stop unless the user or client desires it to do so.
  • Basically, the forced ventilation system consists in the induction of a blown or drawn air current inside the casing which contains the transducers mounted on the plate, through a flexible conduit which, normally, is parallel to the conduit through which the electric cables powering the device pass, reaching it at the back of it.
  • In the simplest case, the cooling air enters at the back of the spatula from the outside, circulates over the transducers and cools them and, finally, exits to the outside at the front of the spatula.
  • There are different alternatives with respect to the method of carrying out the forced ventilation inside the new spatula.
  • One possibility is that the forced ventilation system consists in air which is drawn in instead of being blown.
  • Another possibility consists in the fact that the forced air, which has now finished its work of cooling, instead of exiting from the front of the spatula, exits to one side or at the back. There is even the possibility of its being collected by another exit conduit to be transported to another place or recycled.
  • To improve the performance of the cooling system air, when this circulates inside the spatula, heat dispersers or radiators can be placed directly over the transducers.
  • There is also the option of using air previously cooled in some device specially designed for that purpose.
  • The forced ventilation can be autonomous for each spatula or else can be produced by a single central producer supplying air to all the spatulas connected to it.
  • DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • With the purpose of illustrating what has been described above, a set of two figures is attached to this descriptive memorandum, forming an integral part of it, showing respectively a view in perspective of the new spatula in its component parts (Fig. 1) and a view of the spatula assembled (Fig. 2), corresponding to a practical example of construction
  • DESCRIPTION OF A PRACTICAL CASE
  • The novel spatula for peeling treatments is constituted by a set of electromechanical transducers (1) mounted on a metal plate (2) placed inside a casing formed of two independent pieces (3 and 4) which close one over the other, which are cooled by a constant airflow passing through the casing and coming to it through a flexible two-channel conduit (5), one for the air circulation (5a) and the other for the passage of the electrical cables (5b).
  • The airflow is generated by an impellent pump (not illustrated) housed inside the circuit casing (not illustrated) inside which are the electronic devices which govern the functioning of the spatula.
  • The air current which passes through the casing (3 and 4), exits from it by the front part (6) in such a way that the hot air expelled impacts directly on the surface of the skin under treatment, thus benefiting from the effect of opening of pores that the heat produces in the skin.
  • The materials used in manufacturing the various elements of this invention are independent of the subject of it, as are the shapes, dimensions and accessories which may be presented, being able to be replaced by others technically equivalent, provided that they do not affect its essential nature nor depart from the ambit defined in the section of claims.
  • Having established the concept expressed, the note of claims is set out hereunder, thus summarising the novelties which it is desired to claim:

Claims (6)

  1. "Spatula for peeling treatments" of the type having some electromechanical transducers arranged on a metal plate mounted inside a casing, characterised essentially because it incorporates a means of cooling the transducers.
  2. "Spatula for peeling treatments" according to the above claim, characterised because the means of cooling includes at least a constant blown or drawn airflow which passes through the casing and to which it arrives by a flexible conduit.
  3. "Spatula for peeling treatments" according to the above claims, characterised because the flexible conduit contains two channels, the cooling airflow running through one and the electrical cables through the other.
  4. "Spatula for peeling treatments" according to the above claims, characterised because the airflow is generated by a type of mechanism which blows air in the flexible conduit, forcing it to exit, after passing through the area where the transducers are located, by some orifices or hot air output nozzles arranged in any appropriate part of the casing.
  5. "Spatula for peeling treatments" according to claims 1, 2 and 3, characterised because the airflow is generated by a type of mechanism which draws air through the flexible conduit, forcing the air to enter the casing by some orifices or air entry nozzles arranged in it, passing through the area containing the transducers.
  6. "Spatula for peeling treatments" according to any of the above claims, characterised by incorporating heat radiators in contact with the transducers.
