Abstract

A hinge-lid box for cigarettes, namely for a cigarette block ( 13 ), is designed, in the region of a lid ( 11 ) and in the region of a base wall ( 17 ) in each case, such that cavities namely chambers ( 50 ), are formed on the inside. Cigarette packs having rounded contours and voids formed within the pack are known in the context of other types of cigarette packs. The DE 29 40 797 A1 deals with a unit consisting of two part packs. A cuboidal inner pack for the cigarettes is arranged in a reusable outer pack, which - in the case of a cuboid basic shape - has exclusively rounded corner areas. The outer pack is made by material deformation. Between inner pack and outer pack cavities arise due to the support of the cuboidal inner pack of curves.

The US 4 015 769 relates to a cigarette pack of the type folding carton in a particular embodiment in which the lid is connected in the region of a narrow side wall with the box part (side-lid-pack). At least the lid is asymmetrically formed with respect to a (imaginary) central transverse plane. An end wall of the lid extends in an inclined plane, so that above the contents of the package, an approximately triangular-shaped interior is created.

The invention has for its object to further develop a conventional folding box with respect to the arrangement of the lid on the box part such that the external appearance improves handling easier and beyond at least one free space is created within the pack.

To solve this problem, the package according to the invention has the characterizing features of claim 1, 2 or 9.

The inventively designed folding boxes are provided at least in the upper region of the lid with a contour (rounded or polygonal). Nevertheless, the image of a symmetrical folding box is conveyed. Above the cigarette group, a cavity is created.

The packs shown are folding boxes for cigarettes. This type of package consists in the construction of a (lower) box part 10, a (top) lid 11 and a collar 12 formed from a separate blank. The contents of the package is a cuboid object, namely a cigarette block 13, ie a group formed of cigarettes with a wrapper made of paper or tinfoil.

The box part 10 is formed by a box front wall 14, an opposite box back wall 15, narrow upright box side walls 16, and a bottom wall 17. Correspondingly, the lid 11 consists of lid front wall 18, lid rear wall 19, lid side walls 20 and an end wall 21. Box part 10 and lid 11 are pivotally connected to each other in the rear area of the folding box by a transversely directed line joint 22.

The collar 12 consists of collar front wall 23 and collar side walls 24. The collar 12 is fixed in the box part 10, namely connected to the box front wall 14 and / or box side walls 16 by gluing. An upper portion of the collar 12 protrudes out of the box part 10, (approximately) corresponding to the height of the cigarette block 13.

Bottom wall 17 and / or end wall 21 are formed in a special way. In the embodiment of the Fig. 1 to 5 bottom wall 17 and end wall 21 are designed to match, so that the folding box - with respect to an imaginary transverse center plane - has a symmetrical contour.

The bottom wall 17 and corresponding to the end wall 21 are designed substantially arcuate in this embodiment. The end tabs 27, 28 extend into the flat central portion 26 of the end wall 21 and bottom wall 17. A special feature is the embodiment shown, in which the two belonging to the end wall 21 and bottom wall 17 side portions 25 abut each other with transverse edges, in particular in the vertical, middle packing level. An end portion of the side portions 25 is therefore horizontal and level.

Furthermore, in the region of the central portion 26, preferably over the full width of this flat region, a cover is provided on the outside, which connect the mutually facing (end) regions of the side portions 25 with each other. It is a crosspiece 35, which extends across the front wall 21 and bottom wall 17 extends. In all embodiments of the folding box, the frontal area and the bottom area may be formed coincident.
