Abstract
Description
- The present invention relates to a safe of the built-in type.
- An object of the invention is the development of a safe which has means to facilitate the extendibility thereof for the purpose of adapting it to walls that are of different thickness, thereby overcoming possible dimensional irregularities and making possible the production of a single model for several hole sizes.
- It is a further object of the invention that the safe has means which guarantee the securing thereof in the hole made in the wall in a simple and straightforward manner.
- Safes of the built-in type are designed for their insertion in a hole built into the wall, the dimensions of which in height, width and depth are usually slightly more than those corresponding of the safe.
- On occasions the circumstance arises that the holes in the wall are constructed with a depth greater than that planned, which makes it necessary to install a safe of greater depth. The existence of walls having different thicknesses results in the production of several models of safe of different depths, which signifies substantial production costs which can be reduced by adopting measures such as those disclosed in the present invention.
- Moreover with regard to the means foreseen to fix the safe in the hole built, the incorporation is known of folding plates which emerge from the faces of the safe, in such a way that when polyurethane foam rubber or any other filler material is injected between the hole built and the safe, the aforementioned plates act to establish the anchorage of the safe in position.
- Furthermore the problem is known of safe doors in which the door and the casing are flush, insofar as their swivelling is concerned, since the hinges are usually slightly set back and displaced toward the interior at a certain distance from the edge of the door whereby, on opening the door outwards, the edge sector tilts inwards. The edge of the door which is surrounded by the frame would find its rotation impeded by the actual frame with which it would come into contact, for which reason recourse is usually had to making a mitre cut in the aforesaid edge which will thereby allow the frame to be cleared during the rotation of the door.
- The cutting of the edge of the door is generally done by making use of a metal cutting machine (milling machine or similar) and has a substantial impact in the production costs.
- The safe object of this invention resolves satisfactorily the problems indicated, being formed to such an end by an internal body and an external body which is displaced telescopically with respect to the first to adapt depthwise to different wall thicknesses, thereby allowing a single safe model to be adaptable to holes made in the wall of different depths.
- The greater the depth of the hole, the more the external body will be extended with respect to the internal body, it being foreseen that in the situation of coupling the safe inside the hole, the bond is established between the two bodies by pertinent means of fastening.
- Another of the innovations that this safe presents with regard to the state of the art refers to the bonding of the safe to the hole built being established with the collaboration of a rectangular plate which slightly surpasses the dimensions of the face of the bottom of the external body. The plate enters the hole built at an angle and fits firstly into an internal receptacle which is constituted by an expansion at the rear of the hole built, thereafter the bottom of the external body of the safe is screwed to the plate and subsequently the sealing material is injected into the gap defined between the body and the safe.
- Furthermore, in connection with the door and the solution usually foreseen for the edge of the door to clear the frame when swivelled, the present invention envisages that the door and the frame be separated by a distance sufficient to facilitate the swivelling of the door without the edge coming up against the frame. Said separation is defined by the presence of a gap between door and frame which is covered by means of a front overlap.
- To complete the description that is being made and with the object of assisting in a better understanding of the characteristics of the invention, in accordance with a preferred embodiment thereof, as an integral part of this description the same is accompanied with a set of drawings wherein, by way of illustration and not restrictively, the following has been represented:
- Figure 1. - It shows a view in perspective of the safe in which the internal body, the external body of the safe and the rectangular assembly plate can be appreciated.
- Figure 2. - It shows a view of the safe in cross-section inserted in the hole of the wall.
- Figure 3. - It shows a view in detail of the safe door in which a first view is appreciated of the door slightly separated from the frame in the closed position, with said separation covered by an overlap, and a second view of the door in the partly opened position.
- In the light of figures 1 and 2 it can be observed that the safe object of this invention is of the type built into a wall for its installation in a hole (1) made therein, and is distinguished fundamentally because it is constituted by a parallelepipedic internal body (2) and a hollow external body (3), also parallelepipedic which is displaced telescopically with respect to the internal body (2) and is extended in order to adapt to different depths which the hole in the wall (1) may have, having additionally anchoring means which fix the relative position between the internal body (2) and the external body (3).
- Also the safe, in accordance with that shown in figure 2, is distinguished in that it has a rectangular plate (4), of width and height slightly greater than the rear face of the external body (3), which is inserted in the hole in the wall (1) and fits into an internal receptacle (5) which constitutes an expansion at the rear of the hole in the wall (1), to which rectangular plate (4) in that position and by means of screws (6) the rear face of the external body (3) is fixed, the position of the safe being secured after injecting sealing material into the gap defined between the hole in the wall (1) and the external walls of the bodies (2, 3).
- Another of the characteristics of the invention relates to that the internal body (2) of the safe has a door (7) on the front face thereof, which door is separated by one of its lateral edges (10) with respect to a frame (8) by a gap (9) which allows the swivelling inwards of the lateral edge (10) of the door (7) without it coming into contact with the frame (8) when the door (7) is opened outwards, said gap (9) being covered in the closed position by means of an overlap (11) located on the front face of the internal body (2).
- In figure 3 it can be seen that in the closed position, the separation between the door (7) and the frame (8) defines a gap (9) sufficient, in the following open position, to permit the swivelling of the door (7) without the latter coming into contact with the frame (8).
