Abstract

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Beleuchtungsanordnung für ein Display (2) mit wenigstens einem Licht emittierenden Element (3). Ein Lichtleiter (4) ist hinter dem Display (2) angeordnet und weist eine Ein- und Auskoppelfläche auf, die zueinander parallel angeordnet sind, wobei die Auskoppelfläche ein Vielfaches der Einkoppelfläche beträgt und der Lichtleiter (4) das Licht zwischen Ein- und Auskoppelfläche umlenkt.

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Beleuchtungsanordnung für ein Display mit wenigstens einem Licht emittierenden Element.
Derartige Beleuchtungsanordnungen, bei denen als Licht emittierendes Element in der Regel Leuchtdioden (LED) eingesetzt werden, sind beispielsweise als Hintergrundbeleuchtung für Flüssigkeitskristall-Anzeigen (LCD) bekannt. Üblicherweise werden hierzu die LEDs über die gesamte auszuleuchtende Fläche verteilt, um eine möglichst gleichmäßige Leuchtstärke und homogene Leuchtdichteverteilung zu gewährleisten.
Bei der in Figur 1 gezeigten Anordnung ist schematisch die Draufsicht einer Beleuchtungsanor nung gemäß dem Stand der Technik dargestellt. Die Beleuchtungsanordnung umfaßt ein Gehäuse 1 mit einer integrierten transparenten Streuscheibe 9. Um eine gleichmäßige Ausleuchtung der Fläche eines Displays 2 zu erreichen, sind auf einer hier nicht dargestellten Leiterplatte Leuchtdioden 3 matrixförmig unterhalb der Streuscheibe 9 und des Displays 2 verteilt. Die Größe der Leiterplatte richtet sich aufgrund der notwendigen Verteilung nach der zu hinterleuchtenden Fläche des Displays 2 und entspricht in etwa der Größe der Fläche des Displays 2. Der Nachteil einer solchen Beleuchtungsanordnung ist der hohe schaltungstechnische Aufwand sowie die Verwendung einer großen Anzahl an diskreten Bauelementen. Hiermit sind hohe Herstellungskosten und eine große Bestückungsfläche auf der Leiterbahn und somit eine beidseitige Bestückung der Leiterplatte verbunden.
Der vorliegenden Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, eine Beleuchtungsanordnung vorzuschlagen, die einen einfacheren und kostengünstigeren Aufbau besitzt. Die Aufgabe wird durch eine Beleuchtungsanordnung mit den Merkmalen des Anspruchs 1 gelöst. Weitere Ausgestaltungen der Erfindung ergeben sich aus den Unteransprüchen.
Erfindungsgemäß ist bei der Beleuchtungsanordnung ein Lichtleiter vorgesehen, der eine Ein- und Auskoppelfläche aufweist, wobei die Auskoppelfläche ein Vielfaches der Einkoppelfläche beträgt und der Lichtleiter das Licht zwischen der Ein- und Auskoppelfkäche umlenkt .
In vorteilhafter Weise ist hierbei die Leiterplatte, auf der die Licht emittierenden Elemente angeordnet sind, parallel zum Display angeordnet. Der Lichtleiter übernimmt dabei die Funktion der Lichtführung, wobei das Licht über die dem Dis- play zugewandte Auskoppelflache abgegeben wird. Die Ein- und Auskoppelfläche sind vorzugsweise parallel zueinander angeordnet .
Die Auskoppelflache des Lichtleiters ist an der Oberfläche aufgerauht, um eine homogene Ausleuchtung der Beleuchtungs- fläche zu erzielen.
Die das Licht emittierenden Elemente sind in vorteilhafter Weise auf einer Leiterplatte nur auf einer der Größe der Ein- koppelfläche des Lichtleiters entsprechenden Fläche angeordnet, wobei die Leiterplatte parallel zum Display montiert ist. Vorzugsweise werden als Licht emittierende Elemente Hig -Optical-Power-LEDs verwendet, welche gegenüber herkömmlichen LEDs deutlich heller sind.
Gemäß einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform ist der Lichtleiter unterhalb des Displays keilförmig ausgebildet und weist seitlich des Displays eine zur Einkoppelflache abgewinkelte Ausbildung auf, die mit einer schrägen Außenseite versehen ist. Trifft das Licht der LEDs auf diese schräge Außenseite auf, wird es in den keilförmigen Teil des Lichtleiters umgelenkt, so daß das Licht an der Auskoppelflache austritt. Diese Um- leitung ermöglicht eine gezielte Beleuchtung der gesamten Fläche. Aufgrund der Verwendung der High-Optical-Power-LEDs kann die Fläche in der geforderten Leuchtstärke ausgeleuchtet werden .
Dadurch, daß die Beleuchtungsanordnung ein Gehäuse aufweist, welches einstückig aus Kunststoff mit dem Lichtleiter, insbesondere im Zwei-Komponenten Spritzguß-Verfahren hergestellt ist, ergibt sich ein besonderer Kostenvorteil bei der Her- Stellung. Die Verwendung der High-Optical-Power-LEDs sowie die Reduzierung der Anzahl der benötigten LEDs ermöglichen eine Reduzierung der benötigten Platinenfläche und somit eine Bauteilkostenreduzierung .
Wachfolgend wird die Erfindung anhand der in den Figuren dargestellten Ausführungsbeispiele näher erläutert. Gleiche oder sich entsprechende Elemente in verschiedenen Figuren sind mit gleichen Bezugszeichen versehen.
Es zeigen:
Figur 1 eine Draufsicht einer Beleuchtungsanordnung gemäß dem Stand der Technik und
Figur 2 ein Ausführungsbeispiel als Schnittdarstellung einer erfindungsgemäßen Beleuchtungsanordnung.
Figur 2 zeigt eine erfindungsgemäße Beleuchtungsanordnung in einer Querschnittsdarstellung. Die Anordnung umfaßt ein Kunststoffgehäuse 1 mit einem Lichtleiter 4, in dem Licht von Licht emittierenden Elementen, vorzugsweise High-Optical- Power-LEDs, eingespeist wird. Eine LED 3 ist auf einer Leiterplatte 6 montiert, die eine Schaltungsanordnung zur Versorgung der Leuchtdiode 3 aufweist. Der Lichtleiter 4 besteht aus einem transparenten Material, beispielsweise Polycarbonat oder Polymethylmetacrylat . Der Lichtleiter 4 ist unterhalb eines Displays 2 angeordnet und weist eine Ein- und Auskop- pelflache auf, wobei die Auskoppelflache ein Vielfaches der Einkoppelfläche beträgt. Die Einkoppelflache des Lichtleiters ist parallel zur Auskoppelfläche des Lichtleiters angeordnet. Sie ist jedoch nicht direkt unterhalb des Displays 2 angeord- net, sondern befindet sich in einem seitlichen Bereich des
Gehäuses 1. Der Lichtleiter 4 ist dergestalt ausgebildet, daß das in die Einkoppelfläche des Lichtleiters eingespeiste Licht auf eine schräge Außenwand 5 des Lichtleiters 4 auftrifft und in eine um 90° abgewinkelte keilförmige Ausbildung des Lichtleiters 4 umgelenkt wird und dort an der Auskoppelstelle austritt, wobei sich die keilförmige Ausbildung des Lichtleiters 4 an der der schrägen Aussenwand 5 entgegengesetzten Seite des Lichtleiters 4 verjüngt.
Der Umlenkwinkel kann beliebig sein, so daß je nach technischer Anforderung die Einspeisung des Lichts nicht parallel zur Beleuchtungsfläche des Displays 2 erfolgen muß. Somit kann das Licht bei einem solchen Lichtleiter 4 von dem Licht emittierenden Element so eingespeist werden, daß es an einer bestimmten Stelle des Lichtleiters wieder austritt, da das
Licht mehrfach innerhalb des Lichtleiters an den Außenseiten reflektiert wird. Aufgrund der geometrischen Form des Lichtleiters kann somit festgelegt werden, an welcher Stelle ein in einem bestimmten Winkel eingespeistes Licht an der Auskop- pelstelle wieder austritt.
Die Lichtführung aufgrund der Form des Lichtleiters kann somit optimal erfolgen, so daß bei minimaler Einkoppelfläche ein Maximum an Licht für die Beleuchtung erzielt werden kann.
Aus Kostengründen ist das Kunststoffgehäuse einstückig mit dem Lichtleiter und vorzugsweise als Zwei-Komponenten Spritzguß hergestellt.
Das Display 2 wird auf der dem Betrachter zugewandten Seite durch eine Frontblende 8 begrenzt . Insbesondere finden diese Beleuchtungsanordnungen Verwendung in einem Kraftfahrzeug.

Claims

Patentansprüche
1. Beleuchtungsanordnung für ein Display mit wenigstens einem Licht emittierenden Element (3) , d a d u r c h g e k e n n z e i c h n e t, d a ß ein Lichtleiter (4) hinter dem Display (2) angeordnet ist, der Lichtleiter (4) eine Ein- und Auskoppelfläche aufweist, - die Auskoppelflache ein Vielfaches der Einkoppelfläche beträgt und der Lichtleiter (4) das Licht zwischen Ein- und Auskoppelfläche umlenkt.
2. Beleuchtungsanordnung nach Anspruch 1, d a d u r c h g e k e n n z e i c h n e t, d a ß das Licht emittierende Element (3) auf einer Leiterplatte angeordnet ist und die Leiterplatte parallel zum Display (2) angeordnet ist.
Beleuchtungsanordnung nach Anspruch 2 , d a d u r c h g e k e n n z e i c h n e t, d a ß das Licht emittierende Element (3) eine High-Optical- Power LED ist.
4. Beleuchtungsanordnung nach Anspruch 1, d a d u r c h g e k e n n z e i c h n e t, d a ß der Lichtleiter (4) keilförmig ausgebildet ist und eine zur Einkoppelfläche gerichtete schräge Außenseite (5) aufweist, auf die das Licht des Licht emittierenden E- lementes (3) auftrifft.
5. Beleuchtungsanordnung nach Anspruch 1 oder 4, d a d u r c h g e k e n n z e i c h n e t, d a ß die Auskoppelfläche des Lichtleiters (4) aufgerauht ist, zur Erzielung einer homogenen Ausleuchtung der Beleuchtungsfläche des Displays (2) .
6. Beleuchtungsanordnung nach Anspruch 1, d a d u r c h g e k e n n z e i c h n e t, d a ß diese Beleuchtungsanordnung ein Gehäuse (1) aufweist und das Gehäuse (1) einstückig aus Kunststoff mit dem Lichtleiter (4) hergestellt ist.
7. Beleuchtungsanordnung nach Anspruch 6, d a d u r c h g e k e n n z e i c h n e t, d a ß das Gehäuse (1) mit dem Lichtleiter (4) als Zwei- Komponenten Spritzteil ausgebildet ist.
