Abstract

A power-switching mechanism (200) for an electronic device (104) includes a control input (204) and a switching device (202, the control input being connectable to a conductor (110) of a connection (108) between the electronic device and a host device. The switching device is controlled by the control input, such that the switching device connects the power source to the power supply when a voltage is present on the conductor, and the switching device disconnects the power supply from the power source when the voltage is absent on the conductor.
