Abstract

A description is given of a means of protection for loudspeakers, particularly for automotive use, comprising an easily removable film (8) heat-sealed to the periphery (P) of the loudspeaker (2).

Description

  • The present invention relates to a protective covering for loudspeakers intended particularly for installing in motor vehicles.
  • At the present time, loudspeakers intended for installing in motor vehicles are protected, more particularly their diaphragm, by means of a plastic cover that attaches to the front of the loudspeaker and substantially protects the diaphragm against damage due to movement and installation/fitting by means of screwdrivers or other tools. This type of solution, although effective, is comparatively expensive.
  • It is an object of the present invention to provide a means of protection for loudspeakers, particularly for installation in cars, that overcomes the abovementioned drawbacks, and is easy to make, easy to remove during fitting and low-cost.
  • The present invention achieves the abovementioned objects by means of a means of protection for loudspeakers, particularly for automotive use, having the features specifically claimed in the claims which follow.
  • The invention will now be described with reference to the appended drawing, in which the number 2 is a general reference for a loudspeaker fitted with the means of protection according to the invention.
  • The loudspeaker 2 comprises a peripheral frame part 4 which is intended when in use to be fixed to the part of the motor vehicle on which the loudspeaker is to be positioned, and a diaphragm 6 connected to a magnet, which constitutes the physical means by which the sound is diffused.
  • A film 8, which may be transparent, is attached to the periphery P of.the loudspeaker 2 in order to protect the diaphragm 6 when in use from damage during handling and fitting.
  • The film 8 may for example be heat-sealed to the periphery P of the loudspeaker 2.
  • The advantages of a means of protection for loudspeakers according to the invention will be obvious from the description: the film can be applied easily by automated means to the periphery of the loudspeaker and requires no particular investment in special moulds; and after fitting, the same film can be removed very easily, for example by pulling in the direction of the arrow indicated in the figure.
  • The costs are obviously very low compared with prior-art means of protection.
  • Without departing from the principle of the invention, considerable changes can of course be made to the embodiment described and illustrated without thereby departing from the scope of protection of the invention.

Claims (2)

  1. Means of protection for loudspeakers, particularly for automotive use, characterized in that a plastic film (8) is welded to the peripheral part (P) of the loudspeaker (2).
  2. Means of protection for loudspeakers according to Claim 1, characterized in that the film (8) is heat-sealed to the peripheral part (P) of the loudspeaker (2).
