Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a device intended to be applied on a nobody to detect and memorize certain postures such as bending and exaggerated extension of the trunk. This allows this person to improve his gesture awareness and thus prevent one of the main causes of back pain: exaggerated movements towards the front and back of the trunk when standing. Back pain is one of the major pathologies of our society. The sedentary lifestyle leads to a loss of our (good) sense kinesthetic, which no longer allows us to feel precisely the postures physiologically permitted. Regarding the back, it is estimated that 80% of the The population presents in its life a failure and back pains. The discomfort and expense of these backaches is a concern and require more than ever a reinforced preventive policy of means techniques.
Several solutions have already been described to help people suffering from back to correct a bad posture.
For example, the patent WO 96/17548 refers to a housing applied to the level of vertebral spines of the wearer. When the latter leans, the pressure exerted by the spines on the bearing areas of the device allows to crush a kind of switch and thus trigger an alarm. The areas concerned are therefore obviously restricted and the movements of life current move the housing quickly, which is then more effective.
Le réglage du seuil de déclenchement est cependant malaisé et ne correspond pas précisément à des postures déterminées.WO 90/07360 discloses an apparatus of which one side is intended to be leaning against the body. Part of this face is cut to form a control plate. When this plate is pressed beyond a threshold determined, it engages a vibration generator constituting an alarm Touch. However, setting the trigger threshold is difficult and does not correspond precisely to certain postures.
As for the patent WO 91/06082, it mentions a plate supported bending on the lumbar hollow of the wearer and resuming a rest position when a incorrect posture is adopted. She then plays the role of a switch and operates a vibro-tactile alarm. This method, however, suffers from a fundamental disadvantage: it restricts lumbar mobility, necessary for life intervertebral discs.
The present invention provides an inexpensive device capable of signaling a bad posture of the wearer, the detection threshold can be defined with accuracy by a therapist. Moreover, its installation and use provide no discomfort in a user's daily movements normal.
- an inclinometer delivering a signal representative of the angle of inclination of this segment relative to the vertical,
- a computer receiving said signal and programmed to cyclically perform the operations:
- to obtain a measurement of the angle of inclination,
- comparing said measurement with two stored limit values of said angle, respectively corresponding to positions tilted in a first direction and in an opposite direction, which constitute risk postures, and
- production of an indication of exceedances of the limit values, and
- signaling means, responsive to said indication, for informing the person and / or the therapist.
Advantageously, the inclinometer used is an accelerometer.
In addition, the device includes an interface allowing, using pushbuttons, to memorize the two limit values of the angle of inclination in the computer.
According to the invention, the signaling means advantageously comprise, on the one hand, a light and / or acoustic and / or vibrating alarm and, on the other hand, an externally readable memory comprising a plurality of assigned registers at successive time slots grouping a plurality of cycles, the calculator is then programmed to count, in each of these registers, ie exceedances of the forward and backward limit values observed at each cycle of the current time slot, which is the maximum value of the exceedances of the forward and backward limit values observed during this period of time.
Typically, said cycles and said time slots have a duration respective 100 ms and 15 minutes.
- la figure 1 est, en a, une vue de profil et, en b, une vue de face d'une personne équipée du dispositif selon l'invention et occupant différentes postures caractéristiques ;
- Figure 1 is, a, a side view and at b , a front view of a person equipped with the device according to the invention and occupying different characteristic postures;
- Figure 2 is a block diagram of the device; and
- Figure 3 is a logic diagram summarizing the operating principle of the device.
It is held in place by a belt thoracic 12 made by means of an elastic band whose length is adjustable by a loop.
- a
switch 16 to turn the device on or off, - two
18 and 20, through which the detection thresholds of a bad posture can be programmed and different modes of use to be selected, andpushbuttons - a light emitting diode (LED) 22, a
buzzer 24 and abuzzer 25 which can warn the wearer if a bad posture is detected.
On
Figure 1a is a side view of the wearer in different positions. We
will call α the angle made by the
L'angle α a alors la valeur de référence α0.In the center, the wearer stands straight, heels, buttocks, shoulder blades and head against a vertical, which corresponds to a reference posture for the trunk. The angle α then has the reference value α 0 .
When the wearer leans forward, the therapist determines the front limit, corresponding to an angle α 1 , from which repeated overruns would be harmful over time.
Similarly, when the wearer leans back, the therapist determines the rear limit, corresponding to an angle α 2 , from which repeated overtaking would also be harmful over time.
ordinateur 34.As shown in FIG. 2, the
ait enregistré préalablement les angles limites α1 et α2.The use of the device according to the invention implies that its
The operation can be performed by a therapist who invites the person to lean forward or backward to reach the position that the practitioner considers limit. At this moment, it is sufficient for the therapist to press on the two
We will now describe the sequence of operations performed by the
The
l'inclinomètre 26.The
Puis, le système détermine, en 38, si α est inférieur à α1 ou supérieur à α2.Then, the system determines, at 38, if α is less than α 1 or greater than α 2 .
If this is not the case, this means that the bearer has not exceeded any of the limits
fixed. The next operation is, then, in 40, the deactivation of the
When, on the contrary, the system has detected that α is less than α 1 or greater than α 2 , this means that the wearer has exceeded the front limit or the rear limit. The next operation is, then, at 42, the verification that the overshoot has already been counted.
If this is not the case, it means that the overrun has just
produce. The system therefore increments by one unit, at 44, the register of the
assigned memory, for the current 15 minute slot, to the
counting, as the case may be, of overruns of the forward limit or the
rear limit. The next operation is, then, in 46, the engagement of the
Where, on the contrary, it has been found, at 42, that the detected overrun has has already been accounted for, this means that the holder still preceding cycle, at least one position exceeding the established limits and that the horns are still in action. In this case, the system checks, at 48, whether the overtaking has been going on for more than five seconds.
If this is the case, it means that the wearer is in a stable posture (because, by example, he is wearing his shoes, .....) and it is therefore unnecessary to bother him more by leaving the horns in action. The system then puts, in 50, the alarms off and the cycle ends.
Alternatively, it can be provided that, in such a case, the alarms are not stopped but that, on the contrary, the emitted signals go on increasing.
When, on the other hand, it is noticed that the overtaking has lasted less five seconds, it means that it is useful to let the alarms in action constant. The cycle ends, without turning them off.
The device according to the invention, as just described, can remain several days (except the night the device is paused) on the person and save thus, every 15 minutes, the number of overtaking, forwards or backwards, posture limits set by the therapist.
When the person hands over the device to the therapist, the therapist connects him to
Alternatively, the system could provide the maximum value of the overruns forward and backward limit values for each reference time slot.
According to another variant, it is possible to program the microprocessor of in such a way that the wearer is warned when he approaches, typically, unless four degrees, front and rear limits. In this case, the alarms emit a different (for example, weaker) signal from the one emitted in case of exceeded.
It should also be noted that it is useful for the wearer and the therapist to be able to
disable the alarms while keeping the recording system active.
This can be done by pressing and holding the
This description has been given in a non-limiting way and the device can also be installed on other parts of the body, for example an arm or a leg, in certain special therapeutic conditions. Obviously, the invention can be adapted to monitor the inclination of the patient, when leaning to one side or the other. Advantageously, two inclinometers can be combined to warn the patient if limit positions are exceeded defined in the four directions.
Finally, the histogram will show the actual use of the device by the carrier. Indeed, in a variant, we can consider that the memory, a larger size, can not record the number of overruns, but all angle values at a specific frequency, which will allow detect that the device has been dropped without pausing.
