Abstract
Description
- The present invention relates to furniture accessories and it refers to a modular mattress capable to form a double mattress from two single mattresses.
- In order to increase the accommodation capacity, particularly in the hotels, there is the demand to quickly transform rooms with two separated single beds in rooms with a double bed. At the present, this transformation is carried out by placing side by side two single mattresses.
- A drawback of said known solutions consists in that the two mattresses are not joined together nor they remain perfectly close each other. For this reason many customers require a real double mattress.
- An object of the present invention is to propose a modular single mattress, two exemplars of which can be quickly and easily joined together to obtain a double mattress.
- The above-mentioned objects are achieved in accordance with the claims content.
- The characteristics of the invention are underlined in the following, with particular reference to the attached drawings, in which:
- figure 1 shows a schematic axonometric view of a single modular mattress of the present invention;
- figure 2 shows an axonometric view of two exemplars of modular mattress of figure I in a coupled condition to carry out a double mattress;
- figures 3 and 4 show front views of the mattresses respectively of figures 1 and 2.
- With reference to figures 1 to 4,
numeral 1 indicates the mattress of the present invention provided with abody 2, having an almost parallelepiped shape with dimensions corresponding to the dimensions of a single mattress and having the lyingfaces 3 for an user, sideways bounded byrespective side edges 4 which are shared withside faces 5 which are joined by head and feet faces 9. - The
mattress 1 include a first connection means 6, which consists of a rectangular piece of cloth having a width equal or shorter than the length of the lyingface 3, one side end thereof is fixed to aside edge 4 ofbody 2, by means of seams, adhesives, metallic or synthetic staples. - In alternative, the invention provides that the piece of cloth can be fixed to the side edge by means of snap fasteners, zippers, self-gripping fasteners or the like, buttons and buttonholes or similar to allow removing the cloth of first connection means 6 from the body.
- The opposed side end of the piece of cloth of the connection means 6 is removably fixable to a middle portion of
side face 5 opposed toside edge 4, by removable fixing means 7. - The piece of cloth, which constitutes the first connection means 6, is made of fabric, textile or similar of not elasticized type or elasticized type in order to avoid pleats.
- The removable fixing means 7 are constituted by snap fasteners, for instance reversible type, or by zip-fasteners, self-gripping fasteners or the like, buttons and buttonholes or similar.
- The
mattress 1 can also includes second connection means 8 comprising an element made of fabric, cloth or similar, one end of which is irremovably fixed to a head and/or foot face 9 of the respective body and whose remaining end is fixed to thebody 2 same or to abody 2 connected thereto of afurther mattress 1. - The head and/or foot faces 9 of
body 2 have snap fasteners, zip-fasteners, self-gripping fasteners or the like, buttons and buttonholes or similar for removably fixing the free ends of second connection means 8 of the said body and of abody 2 connected thereto. - The operation of the modular mattress object of the present invention, for forming a double mattress by joining together two single modular mattress, provides to position side by side a
first mattress 1 to asecond mattress 1, rotated with respect to the first one and to fix the snap fasteners of the removable fixing means 7 of the first connection means 6 of amattress 1 to the snap fastener connections of the removable fixing means 7 of theother mattress 1. In this way, the lyingfaces 3 of the two mattresses are joined together by the pieces of cloths, without interruptions. - The second connection means 8 strengthen the connection of the head and foot faces 9 of the
bodies 2 of the twomattresses 1, contributing to the mutual fixing of these two mattresses. - In alternative, the invention provides that the first connection means 6 comprises a plurality fabric, cloth or similar ribbons, each thereof provided with respective removable fixing means 7.
- An advantage of the present invention is to provide a single modular mattress, two exemplars of which can be quickly and easily joined together to obtain a double mattress.
