Definitions
- the invention relates to a security with at least one security feature, in particular a banknote, as well as a method and an apparatus for producing such a security.
- banknotes have been provided with machine-readable security features for automatic checking using machine tools.
- Such banknotes are not characterized by their printed image alone as genuine, but have one or more other security features integrated into or printed on the banknote paper, not misrepresented by photocopying techniques, and e.g. electrically, magnetically or visually can be checked by machine.
- An associated processing machine is exemplary in the DE 19810 928 A1 explained deposited in the banknotes stacked, occasionally fed into the machine and transported according to predetermined criteria to various storage compartments. In such sorting devices or even at ATMs where banknotes are deposited, it may come in certain circumstances when collecting or transporting the banknotes to a jam. In the case of worn banknotes in particular, this is regularly due to the fact that the banknotes have dog-ears, ie bent corner areas, which get caught in the transport mechanism
- rotary stamp provided, which are adapted to remove edge portions of roll or sheet material, such as gray cardboard, while the material is transported with transport rollers to a rotary knife.
- the transport is chosen to determine the length of the inserts, and the speeds of the rotary punch and the rotary knife are selected to remove material so as to ensure that the inserts of the selected length have rounded corners.
- the punches are located on rollers which move the material from the transport rollers and are arranged so that the edges of the material move between them.
- EP 0 679 523 A1 A method for producing prints by means of a thermal printer is described in which a rectangular sheet to be printed is applied with its leading edge to a rotatable printing roll, while the trailing edge of the sheet is not applied. In this case, a sheet to be printed is used, in which at least those in the printer rear corners are rounded.
- the invention is thus based on the idea of producing banknotes with at least one rounded corner region. This means that the banknote in the rounded corner regions also lacks a visibly, without the aid of optical instruments, clearly visible area proportion in comparison to the rectangular shape of known banknotes.
- the banknotes in the corner areas have increased rigidity against kinking, thereby reducing the likelihood of dog-ear formation, and hence stalls, in automatic testing in processing machines without having to otherwise construct the machines themselves.
- the invention is particularly advantageous for securities made of cotton fibers or other vegetable fibers, such as e.g. Cellulose, because such paper kinks particularly easily and gets dog-ears.
- security paper also includes all other substrates which can be used for securities, such as plastic-fiber-like, pure plastic fiber papers or film-like plastic substrates, although the problem of dog-eared ears is less frequent with them because of their greater elasticity.
- the rounded corner region will have n vertices, where n is a natural number greater than or equal to 2. This means, for example, that there are two or more in the associated corner area There are corner points in each of which two straight or curved outlines collide. The corner points will preferably span internal angles which are greater than 90 ° and less than 180 °. In contrast, the corner of a known rectangular banknote has only one corner point with 90 ° interior angle.
- the rounded corner regions will preferably be smooth, that is, have no discontinuity and / or kink. On the one hand, this can apply to the area between two adjacent corner points, which lead to the horizontally or vertically extending sides of an otherwise rectangular banknote. Most preferably, however, this condition applies to the entire circumference, i. the entire contour of the banknote.
- the rounded corner region may, for example, be an outline of continuous curvature, such as e.g. have a circular arc and / or elliptical arc and / or hyperbolic and / or parabolic arc-shaped outline. In these variants, formation of dog-eared ears can be prevented particularly reliably.
- a device and an associated method are also proposed, in which a separator of a printed or unprinted security paper, with one or more benefits for the production of one or more such securities, in individual use corresponding to the individual Securities are separated and rounded with a rounding at least one corner of the individual benefits.
- the separator will perform the function of Abrund nails. This means that the separation and rounding done in a joint step. Compared to a sequential processing in which the rounding of the corners takes place in a separate step after separation into single-use, the aforementioned variant is much faster to execute.
- the cutting and / or rounding off is preferably carried out by punching, wherein the punching device, for example, a grid having a plurality of grid cells, wherein the shape corresponds to a grid cell of the contour of one of the individual uses.
- the punching device for example, a grid having a plurality of grid cells, wherein the shape corresponds to a grid cell of the contour of one of the individual uses.
- the walls of the individual grid cells can also be formed with rounded corner areas, so that at the same time the corners are stamped out in the desired rounded shape by punching the individual benefits from the sheet.
- this variant is particularly time-effective.
- Fig. 1 shows a security according to the invention in supervision.
- a banknote 1 made of paper, such as cotton paper.
- This banknote 1 has, in particular in the schematically outlined area 2, a printed image which is specific to the denomination of the banknote.
- the banknote is provided with several machine-readable security features.
- fluorescent and / or phosphorescent pigments will be contained in the paper or in the printing ink, and the banknote will have individual regions with magnetic substances.
- a security thread 3 can be introduced in the banknote paper, which can be magnetically coded.
- the banknote can also have other or additional security features.
- the banknote 1 is characterized in that it is made rounded in all four corner regions 4a-d, so that the banknote 1 in the corner regions 4a-d lacks a visually clearly visible area proportion in comparison to the rectangular shape of known banknotes.
- known banknotes have a rectangular contour with 90 ° inside angles Have corner areas, this contour 5 deviates in the banknote 1 according to the invention and these internal angles are increased.
- the absence of right and acute angles causes the banknote 1 in the corner areas 4a-d to have increased rigidity against buckling, which reduces the likelihood of the formation of dog-ears and thus of stalls in automatic checking of the banknote 1 in processing machines.
- the internal angles ⁇ at the points A and B need not necessarily be the same, but can also be chosen differently.
- not only a 2-corner, but also an outline can be selected with more than two corners, wherein the shape of the outline with increasing number of corners can approach a line with continuous curvature.
- FIG. 2 shows a second example of such a banknote according to the invention 1 '. This differs from banknote 1 FIG. 1 in particular by the nature of the rounding of the corner regions 4a'-d '.
- the contour 5 'of the banknote 1' is not as at FIG. 1 rounded by a straight line 5a, but at least in the area between two boundary points C and D has an outline 5a 'with continuous curvature, ie without discontinuity in the change of curvature on.
- the banknote 1 'in the corner region 4a' has a circular arc-shaped outline 5a 'and is designed smoothly over its entire circumference without discontinuity and kinking.
- Radius r of the circular arc 5a ' is about 1 cm and any point E between the points C and D has an internal angle ⁇ of 180 °, corresponding to the course of the tangent at the point E.
- the rigidity against buckling is particularly greatly increased. This is particularly noticeable and thus the likelihood of dog-ears is reduced if the radius r is greater than or equal to 0.5 cm, preferably greater than or equal to 0.7 cm, and particularly preferably greater than or equal to 1.0 cm.
- the continuously curved outline 5a ' is also of another shape, such as e.g. which may have an ellipse, hyperbola, parabola or even a combination of these individual shapes.
- the amount of the associated radius vector or the half-parameter of the outline should preferably fulfill the aforementioned conditions.
- the outline may also be composed of a combination of the above-mentioned different line types.
- FIGS. 3 and 4 A possible procedure for producing securities according to the invention is explained below.
- a possibility for producing the banknotes 1 'according to FIG. 2 received.
- a sheet 10 is provided which consists of security paper with machine-readable security features, such as the security thread 3, and preferably has already been printed.
- a single sheet 10 then has a matrix of several individual bins 11 corresponding to the individual bills 1 '.
- the sake of clarity is in the FIG. 3 just a matrix of 3x3- single use 11 shown, although of course there may be more individual benefits per sheet.
- FIG. 4 shows in schematic plan a possible tool for separating the individual benefits 11 from the sheet 10 after FIG. 3 ,
- the tool is in this case a grid-shaped punching device 12. It has, by way of example, 3 ⁇ 3 grid cells 13, which are rigidly fastened to one another.
- the individual grid cells 13 are made of circumferential walls 14, each defining a hollow interior 16 in the shape of the outline 5 'of the individual 11 benefits.
- the grid cells 13 are arranged according to the position of techniciansstanzenden individual 11 on the sheet 10. Consequently, the individual grid cells can each punch out an associated individual utility 11 from the sheet 10.
- a plurality of sheets 10 are stacked flush with each other and then separated by pressing and pushing the punching device 12 on the upper sheet a corresponding number of individual benefits 11 from the stacked sheets.
- the individual benefits 11 can be separated in the desired shape with rounded corner areas by a milling process or other cutting methods.
- Eg cutting blades are used, which are moved along the desired contour relative to the sheets 10.
- the single-use can be cut out of the security paper sheets 10 and / or punched with conventional separation method in the known rectangular shape.
- FIG. 5 shows an example of such a single single-use 11 'with a rectangular contour 5 ".Such of such individual benefits 11 can be stacked flush and subsequently by means of a separate separating step the corners 15 to be removed are cut off or punched, so that the individual benefits then the desired shape with rounded Corner, according to the in FIG. 5 dashed line, have.
- the procedure according to the invention reduces the likelihood of the formation of dog-ears and thus of stalls during automatic testing in banknote processing machines, without these machines themselves having to be constructed differently.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a security with at least one security feature, in particular a banknote, as well as a method and an apparatus for producing such a security.
Although not limited thereto, the invention will be described below with reference to the particular problem of banknotes as a special case of securities. For almost thirty years, banknotes have been provided with machine-readable security features for automatic checking using machine tools. Such banknotes are not characterized by their printed image alone as genuine, but have one or more other security features integrated into or printed on the banknote paper, not misrepresented by photocopying techniques, and e.g. electrically, magnetically or visually can be checked by machine.

On this basis, it is the object of the present invention to reduce the likelihood of stalls in the automatic checking of banknotes or other securities with machine-readable security features.
This object is solved by the features of the independent claims. Further developments are the subject of the dependent claims.
The invention is thus based on the idea of producing banknotes with at least one rounded corner region. This means that the banknote in the rounded corner regions also lacks a visibly, without the aid of optical instruments, clearly visible area proportion in comparison to the rectangular shape of known banknotes.
As a result, the banknotes in the corner areas have increased rigidity against kinking, thereby reducing the likelihood of dog-ear formation, and hence stalls, in automatic testing in processing machines without having to otherwise construct the machines themselves. On the other hand, there is the further advantage that such banknotes can be better sorted by hand into a wallet because of the missing dog ears.
The invention is particularly advantageous for securities made of cotton fibers or other vegetable fibers, such as e.g. Cellulose, because such paper kinks particularly easily and gets dog-ears. However, the term "security paper" also includes all other substrates which can be used for securities, such as plastic-fiber-like, pure plastic fiber papers or film-like plastic substrates, although the problem of dog-eared ears is less frequent with them because of their greater elasticity.
According to a preferred embodiment, the rounded corner region will have n vertices, where n is a natural number greater than or equal to 2.
The rounded corner regions will preferably be smooth, that is, have no discontinuity and / or kink. On the one hand, this can apply to the area between two adjacent corner points, which lead to the horizontally or vertically extending sides of an otherwise rectangular banknote. Most preferably, however, this condition applies to the entire circumference, i. the entire contour of the banknote.
The rounded corner region may, for example, be an outline of continuous curvature, such as e.g. have a circular arc and / or elliptical arc and / or hyperbolic and / or parabolic arc-shaped outline. In these variants, formation of dog-eared ears can be prevented particularly reliably.
In particular, in processing machines which check banknotes regardless of their location, it is preferred that all corner regions of the individual banknotes, moreover, are particularly preferably rounded off in the same manner.
For the production of the securities according to the invention, a device and an associated method are also proposed, in which a separator of a printed or unprinted security paper, with one or more benefits for the production of one or more such securities, in individual use corresponding to the individual Securities are separated and rounded with a rounding at least one corner of the individual benefits.
Preferably, the separator will perform the function of Abrundeinrichtung. This means that the separation and rounding done in a joint step. Compared to a sequential processing in which the rounding of the corners takes place in a separate step after separation into single-use, the aforementioned variant is much faster to execute.
The cutting and / or rounding off is preferably carried out by punching, wherein the punching device, for example, a grid having a plurality of grid cells, wherein the shape corresponds to a grid cell of the contour of one of the individual uses. This means, for example, that the walls of the individual grid cells can also be formed with rounded corner areas, so that at the same time the corners are stamped out in the desired rounded shape by punching the individual benefits from the sheet. In addition, since several individual benefits can be punched out simultaneously, this variant is particularly time-effective.

The

It should be emphasized that the continuously curved

Particularly preferably, in such a procedure, a plurality of
In addition to the aforementioned punching process, the
However, there is a problem with the removal of banknotes with curved ones, e.g.
Consequently, the procedure according to the invention reduces the likelihood of the formation of dog-ears and thus of stalls during automatic testing in banknote processing machines, without these machines themselves having to be constructed differently.
