Abstract

Measuring a road marking at several points with an apparatus that comprises an illuminator (1), a sensor comprising several adjacent detectors, means for controlling the illuminator (1), and a data processing and control unit (5). The retroreflection of the road marking is determined from the measurement. The brightness of the road marking is also measured inside the road marking at several locations, and the remaining surface area of the road marking is determined from the measurement.
