Abstract

L'invention concerne la chélatase de magnésium dont il a été découvert qu'elle est essentielle pour la croissance d'Arabidopsis. De manière plus spécifique, l'inhibition de l'expression du gène CHL H de la chélatase de magnésium dans les plants d'Arabidopsis provoque la modification des niveaux de chlorose (jaunissement), une croissance sensiblement réduite et des anomalies de développement. Ainsi, la chélatase de magnésium d'Arabidopsis peut être utilisée comme cible pour l'identification d'herbicides. La présente invention porte aussi sur des procédés pour identifier des composée qui modulent l'expression ou l'activité de la chélatase de magnésium d'Arabidopsis, comprenant les opérations suivantes : mettre en contact un composé avec la chélatase de magnésium d'Arabidopsis ou avec une sous-unité de celle-ci, et déterminer la présence et/ou l'absence de liant entre ledit composé et ladite chélatase de magnésium, ou bien détecter un changement dans l'expression ou l'activité de la chélatase de magnésium. Ces procédés sont utiles pour identifier des herbicides ou d'autres composés susceptibles de moduler la croissance et le développement d'une plante. Lesdits procédés sont en outre utiles pour l'identification de composés qui stimulent l'expression ou la fonction de la chélatase de magnésium. De tels composés peuvent être utilisés pour favoriser ou manipuler la croissance et le développement d'une plante.
