Abstract
A transport vehicle has a compartment with, inside it, several horizontal floors lying above each other, between which storeys are formed. The floors are formed by continuous transport elements (7), which are guided at the front and rear of the compartment by guide wheels (9, 11). This means that the transport vehicle can be loaded more quickly. Each transport element (7) has two parallel circulation elements (13), which are formed by chains and which are each guided by two guide wheels (9, 11). There are strips (17) between the circulation elements (13), which in the lengthwise direction run transversely on the circulation elements and whose ends are attached to the circulation elements. The strips (17) are only present along half the length of the circulation elements (13) and are on the bottom half (25) of the circulation elements in an unloaded condition and on the top half (29) of the circulation elements in loaded condition. In a loaded condition, space is created because the space between the bottom half of the circulation elements is free.
Description
Transport vehicle, in particular for transporting chickens, as well as a method for loading the transport vehicle.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION:
Field of the invention
The invention relates to a transport vehicle, in particular for transporting chickens, comprising a compartment with, inside it, several horizontal floors lying above each other, and between which storeys are formed, in which the floors of the storeys are formed by continuous transport elements, which are guided at the front and rear of the compartment by guide wheels, and in which each transport element comprises a circulation element, preferably a chain, which is guided at the front and rear of the compartment by guide wheels.
Prior art
Such a transport vehicle is known from GB 1 487 409. The known vehicle has only one transport element, which is formed by a conveyor belt and a chain. The chain, seen in the width, is fastened in the middle to the conveyor belt. The conveyor belt is guided at the sides by guiding devices.
Summary of the invention
An objective of the invention is to improve the known transport vehicle. For this purpose, the transport vehicle according to the invention is characterized in that each transport element has a further circulation element in addition to the circulation element mentioned, which circulation elements are parallel to each other and at a distance from each other in the transverse direction, and a further guide wheel is present both at the front and rear of the compartment in addition to one of the above guide wheels, which guide wheels lie along an imaginary axis and are at a distance from each other in the direction of this axis.
Preferably each transport element comprises several strips between the circulation elements, which run in the lengthwise direction transversely on the circulation elements and whose ends are attached to the circulation elements.
An embodiment of the transport vehicle is characterized in that the strips comprise two long sides and are only attached to the circulation elements near one of the long sides. This means that the transport elements can bend around a smaller radius than if the strips were attached to the circulation elements near both long sides. The advantage of this is that guide wheels with a small diameter can be used so that less incorporation space is needed. A further embodiment of the transport vehicle is characterized in that the strips are only present over half the length of the circulation elements and are on the bottom half of the circulation elements in an unloaded condition and on the top half of the circulation elements in a loaded condition. Preferably the space between the other half of the circulation elements is free. The advantage of this is that once a floor is formed, the bottoms of the strips form the ceiling of the storey underneath because the strips are now all on the top half of the circulation elements. If the strips were present over the whole length of the circulation elements, the strips on the bottom half of the circulation elements that formed the ceiling of the storey underneath would then be lower. This therefore creates more space and moreover fewer strips are needed. This also explains why using these transport elements is better than using a conveyor belt.
To prevent the chickens from falling off the front and rear of the floor, an upright wall is preferably erected along a lengthwise side of the first and last strips.
The invention also relates to a method for loading a transport vehicle according to the invention. As regards the method, the invention is characterized in that the method comprises the steps of transporting the chickens at the same level as the floor of the top storey to be formed, and of driving the circulation elements during the transport of the chickens so that the strips are moved from the bottom half of the circulation elements to the top half, where they form the floor of the storey, and of filling the storeys below from top to bottom, after the top storey has been filled.
Brief description of the drawings
The invention will be elucidated more fully below on the basis of drawings in which an embodiment of the transport vehicle according to the invention is shown. In these drawings:
Figure 1 shows a side view of an embodiment of the transport vehicle; Figure 2 shows a side view of a transport element of the transport vehicle;
Figure 3 shows a view from above of the transport element; and
Figures 4 and 5 show a cross-section of the transport element in a loaded and unloaded condition respectively.
Detailed description of the drawings
Figure 1 shows a side view of an embodiment of the transport vehicle 1 according to the invention. The transport vehicle 1 has a compartment 3 with, inside it, several horizontal floors lying above each other, between which storeys 5 are formed. The floors are formed by continuous transport elements 7, which are guided at the front and rear of the compartment by guide wheels 9, 11.
Figure 2 shows a side view of a transport element 7. The transport element 7 has two parallel circulation elements 13 at a distance from each other in a transverse direction, which consist of chains in this embodiment. Each circulation element 13 is guided at the front and rear of the compartment by a guide wheel 9, 11. Both guide wheels 9 at the front of the compartment and both guide wheels 11 at the rear of the compartment lie along an imaginary axis 15 and are at a distance from each other along this axis; see also Figures 4 and 5.
Each transport element 7 has several strips 17 between the circulation elements 13. The strips 17 run in a lengthwise direction transversely on the circulation elements 13 and are attached by their ends to the circulation elements 13. Each strip 17 has two long sides 19, 21 and is only attached to the circulation elements 13 near one of the long sides 19, which is present at the front in the circulation direction 23.
The strips 17 are only present along half the length of the circulation elements 13. The strips 17 are on the bottom half 25 of the circulation elements 13 in an unloaded condition. The bottom half 25 means the section of the circulation element 13 that is under an imaginary plane 27 formed by the imaginary axes 15. The strips 17 are on the top half 29
of the circulation elements 13 in a loaded condition. The top half 29 is the section above the imaginary plane 27. The ends of the strips 17 are supported and guided by planks 30, which are fastened against the side walls of the compartment; see also Figure 4. There is an upright wall 31 along a long side of the first and last strips to prevent the chickens falling off the strips 17.
Figure 3 shows a view from above of a strip 17 of the transport element 7. The strip 17 is fastened to the links of the chains that form the circulation elements 13 by bolts 33 and nuts 35. It can be clearly seen here that the strip 17 is only attached to the chain near the long sides 19 of the strip, which are present at the front in the circulation direction 23.
Figures 4 and 5 show cross-sections of the transport element 7 on the top half 29 and the bottom half 25 of the circulation elements 13 respectively. The transport element 7 runs between both side walls 37 of the compartment in the transverse direction. The strips 17 are on one half (29 in Figure 4 and 25 in Figure 5) of the length of the circulation elements 13 and the space between the other half (25 in Figure 4 and 29 in Figure 5) of the length of the circulation elements is free, so that the bottoms of the strips form the ceiling of the storey below in a loaded condition.
In loading a transport vehicle, chickens are transported at the same level as the floor of the top storey to be formed (see Figure 4). The rearmost circulation elements 9 are driven during the transport of the chickens, so that the strips 17 are moved from the bottom half of the circulation elements, see Figure 5, to the top half, see Figure 4, (see also
Figure 3), where they form the floor of the storey. Once the top storey has been filled, the storey underneath is filled in the same way, and then the storey below that, etc.
Although in the above the invention is explained on the basis of the drawings, it should be noted that the invention is in no way limited to the embodiment shown in the drawings. The invention also extends to all embodiments deviating from the embodiment shown in the drawings within the context defined by the claims.
