Abstract

Especially shaped bendable section with one or two segmented surfaces running lengthwise and essentially made up of a sequence of rectangular and/or trapezoidal elements or tongues to which, depending on the section being U, C or double-C shaped, one or two flat laminar elements (13) or (13") are coupled so that they are positioned alternatively between the internal face of one tongue and the external face of the following one, thus connecting the tongues into forming a virtually continuous wall, so that when the section is forced into a certain shape involving a curve or a series of curves, element (13) or elements (13") bend into the same shape which can be fixed and held once elements (13) or (13") are riveted or punched to the section's segmented walls. The invention to be used in building single or double curve false-ceilings, curved walls, interior finishing, domes, etc.

Description

Description
Bendable sections with one or more fixable sliding walls.
Technical field
The invention allows for especially shaped section types to adapt and retain any type of curve or series of curves by simple riveting or punching flat ribbon-like elements onto tongues, therefore making the parts more rigid and integral with each other, the whole to be used in building single or double curve false-ceilings, curved walls, interior finishing, domes, etc.
Aims and advantages of the invention
This invention, to be used in building single or double curve false- ceilings, curved walls, interior finishing, etc., aims at giving a section with slotted holes and slots generating segmented or tongued edges or surfaces, as found in Patent Application SA97U000021 by the same applicant, the ability to flex in order to take on curves or double curves and the possibility that the flexion might be contemporarily evenly distributed over all the tongues, consequently adding greater rigidity once the required curve is fixed.
In particular, this invention, aimed at U or C sections which are to be bent to take on a specific curved shape, an additional element slides in between the tongues, takes on the required radius, and is then riveted, forming a continuous wall which provides rigidity and stability to the whole.
A further main aim of the invention is that when a double C section, or another interesting section, is bent to take on a specific curved shape, two additional flat elements slide in between the tongues, take on the required radius, and are then riveted, thus forming a continuous wall which confers rigidity and stability to the whole.
Description of drawings and putting the invention into service
Further features and advantages of the invention will be clearer through the description of a few favourite settings which are to be intended as examples and do not limit other possibilities of use. Fig.1 shows a plan view of the bending lines of a U section. Fig .2 shows the segmented side surface of the U section. Fig .3 shows the fragments alternating lengthwise on the U section. Fig .4 shows a front lateral overview of the U section. Fig.5 shows a 3D overview of the U section.
Fig .6 shows a sectioned first view of a double -C section with the added elements according to the invention.
Fig.7 shows a 3D overview of a double-C section complete with the invention in use.
In accordance with the drawings, (1) indicates a portion of metal-sheet ribbon with circular slots, (2) with triangular slots, (3) with rectangular slots, (4) with a series of trapezoidal slots, (5) and rectangular slots, (6) possibly with rounded and smoothed edges, and an even strip (7) on another portion of the ribbon. Along the ribbon length (1 ), bending lines (8), (9), (10) and (11 ) are shown. Once the ribbon has been bent according to the shapes, it results in a U section with one even vertical wall (7) and the other wall segmented with a sequence of rectangular elements (6) connected to the first (7) by a series of trapezoidal elements (5) which constitute its base surface. Bending lines (9) and (10) represent the ends of the embossment which can have a circular
(12) or a faceted curved section, while bending line (9) displays flaps on tongue tips (6).
A flat laminar element (13) consisting of a strip or ribbon, preferably made of metal, the smaller side of which is shorter than the length of tongues (6) of the section to which it is connected and has its same thickness, is to be positioned between the tongues, alternating between the internal face of one tongue and the external face of the following one, so connecting the tongues into a virtually continuous wall. Flat laminar element (13) is kept in position by the embossments and the flaps on tongue tips (6), which form a guide-channel into which element
(13) can slide.
Embossment (12) is crafted , in an alternating sequence, at the base of a tongue where bending line (9) is, but not on the immediately following tongue.
Lengthwise fold or flap (14), obtained on tongue tip (6) by bending the tip itself, is oriented towards the inside of the section, in an alternating sequence. Lengthwise folds or flaps (14) or (15), obtained on the tip of each tongue by bending the tips themselves, can have a maximum angle of 90°.
In a variation of this first setting for the invention, embossment (12) is crafted in an alternating sequence on the external face of one tongue and the internal face of the following one.
The positioning of flat laminar element (13) is obtained via embossments (12) and folds (14) and (15), crafted on tongue tips (6) which form guide- channels where element (13) can slide.
A further use of the invention consists in a specially shaped double-C section obtained by bending a previously shaped metal plate or by assembling two previously C-shaped plates connected via mechanical caulking or electrical punching, and where indicated with (13') each of the two flat laminar elements consists of a strip or ribbon, preferably made of metal, the smaller side of which is shorter than the height of the tongues (16) of the section to which it is connected, and has its same thickness, and is to be positioned between tongues (16), in an alternating sequence, on the internal face of one tongue and the external face of the following one, connecting individual tongues into a virtually continuous wall.
The positioning of flat laminar elements (13") is obtained by a combination of embossment (17), crafted in an alternating sequence on the external face of a tongue (16) and distanced by the bending line (18), but not on the following tongue, and of flaps obtained by simple bending and especially shaped flaps (19), obtained on tongue tips (16) by a 90° angling of the tips themselves to form guide-channels in which elements (13") can slide.
Embossment (17) can also be crafted in an alternating sequence on the internal face of one tongue and on the external face of the following one. When sections are forced into a certain curve or series of curves, the flat laminar elements (13) or (13") which connect the single tongues, respectively (6) and (16), into virtually continuous walls, slide and consequently bend into the same shape of the sections, which can be fixed once elements (13) and (13") are fixed when riveted or punched respectively to tongues (6) or (16).
So, in a first favourite use of the invention, once the lengthwise-running flat laminar element (13) is associated to a special U or C section, it creates a wall which slides lengthwise along the section itself so that this can be bent and easily fixed, via riveting or punching, into the desired curve or series of curves.
In a second favourite setting for the invention, the lengthwise-running flat laminar elements (13") once coupled to a special section, preferably double-C shaped, form, on the lower tongues and lengthwise along the section, a virtually continuous sliding wall which allows for the section to be bent and easily fixed, via riveting or punching, into the desired curve or series of curves, thus resulting in a rigid and resistant structure. The invention can be very successfully used in support structures for panels or sheets of any kind and complexity, and can be built quickly and simply, thus resulting also very economical.
The invention allows for a specially shaped section to sustain itself in any given shape once it has been riveted or punched into that shape.
These descriptions have shown the effectiveness of the invention for the purposes it was designed for.
There is no restriction to sizes and shapes which will only depend on general design.
